I'm so glad Joe Benigno came on and mentioned the second half and the failures of the defense. While people have been constantly talking about the turning point being the Mosely off-sides which led to Buffalo's touchdown at the end of the first half, I thought the real turning point was at the beginning of the second half. The opening drive of the second half Mike White directs a brilliant touchdown drive to tie the game. The Jets offense immediately made a statement to start the second half and now the Jets defense needed to make a statement by making a stop. They failed. Buffalo immediately answered with an easy touchdown drive of their own. Afterwards, I felt so deflated and knew the Jets weren't going to win. So, for me, that was the turning point.

It was bad, yes, but it was the first full drive without Quinnen Williams and the Bills clearly made adjustments to counter their defense in the locker room. Have to give the Jets credit for keeping us alive in the 4th quarter they got 3 straight 3 and outs when they needed to.

Yea. Every jets fan I know says it was a clean hit on white and shouldn’t be flagged. We also are on the short end of the refs every week, like Joe is saying.

I totally agree with , stopped em on 3rd down , call timeout and save 40 seconds . That’s where experience comes in and Saleh wasn’t thinking on his feet .
Romo put it well, if you can use a timeout to guarantee the max time saved between plays, you do it. They had three timeouts left as they were debating onside kicking it or not. That’s not the move.
The Jets have a time management coach. A job the Jets have invented lol It's on this guy to know all the numbers and situations down to a science, and radio down and tell the coaches when to call timeout. The blames on him whoever he is lol

Sure, it would be nice to get more turnovers, but defending against Josh Allen isn't the easiest task.
Simply put, like the Rex Ryan teams before this, the offense needs to put more than 12 points on the board. We need to find a way to keep guys healthy because this patchwork O-line isn't cutting it.

They were never going to let white even compete for the job in the beginning of the year. White is the dude he’s a real nfl QB. I’m not a jets fan but I wasn’t high on Wilson and knew it was a bad pick. Wilson didn’t play enough at BYU and only had one “good year”.

I still think Mike White is the man. Both of these loses have been a TEAM loss where they make mistakes like Joe Flacco and horrible run plays. Zach Wilson has had losses that can be attributed directly to his mistakes

The defense isn't perfect, but I disagree with Joe. I think the defense has given the team the chance to win in almost every game. It's the offense that doesn't give the defense the chance to win.

Nice of you to say but that's unfortunately been the issue with the Jets for forever and a day. They've had moments of very good quarterback play, but that quickly comes to a halt. I wouldn't know what to do with myself if they had a Jim Kelly back there for a decade.
Why is Mike white not the answer long term? 3 games he's averaged 317 yards a game and moving the ball better than Josh allen did in driving rain and snow.

The Lions are healthy and have plenty of offensive weapons to contend with. Unless you disrupt Goff...they will light up the scoreboard. Defense is also improving.

@Daniel Grassi Shula was on the rules committee and many times seemed to favor Miami. It rained crazy the night before and he left the field uncovered to slow the Jets speed. You probably forgot the New England game that year when the convict on work release cleared a path for John Smith to kick the game winning field goal. Than bitch after the game about how unfair that was and on the rules committee he'll address in the off season. And how he would never do something like that. Wrong....

Let’s think about this for a second, look how close we are to winning games with 4th string players at key positions. How many O lineman have we gone through. We lost rookie of the year in Breece. Next season with another solid draft class and everyone back from injuries. Are you kidding me?!?!…we are stacked! Joe's right the defense is starting to fall off when they need them to play their best., and now that we have a seemingly smoother offense.Yardage & points wise they're still top 10, but too many missed tackles the last few weeks starting with the Bears game, and they need to start forcing turnovers and keeping teams out of the end zone consistently! They basically need to win out the rest of the year. Will be interesting to see how they respond.
I don't think he or you are right, fortunately. You said it yourself, points-wise we're still Top 10, so how are you going to say we haven't been able to keep teams out of the end zone consistently? Maybe the bigger issue is that people tricked themselves into thinking the Jets are a Top 5 or even Top 3 defense because we've played some putrid offenses, we're getting there but still a few pieces away, IMO.

Doesn't it seem like either the defense is stifling but the offense can't move the ball or convert a third down, or the offense is marching up and down the field at will but the defense isn't able to stop a nosebleed, missing tackles, and letting the other offense convert every third down? Joe's point was scoring in that game to tie it, then letting Buffalo march down the field and score right after. The defense needs to tighten up, and the offense and defense need to play complimentary of each other.

That drive was disappointing but we had just lost our All-Pro, game wrecking defensive tackle for the game, Josh Allen was bound to find opportunities with that extra time to throw. You have to allow for the possibility that even the best defense is going to give up points, otherwise you aren't being critical, you're being hysterical.
@@mytoemytoe go back and watch the Bears game. There were missed tackles all over the field, and lots of third down conversions converted. Letting Allen get his is expected here and there. But the Bills game isn’t an outlier

I love Joe's passion but I don't always agree with his takes, in particular going after the defense when I think they're actually playing pretty well and in particular gave a good effort Sunday. Before Quinnen Williams went down they were getting to Allen almost every play! This is a good Buffalo team that can put points up on you in a hurry, holding them to 20 was an accomplishment. Can this defense be better? Sure, but I think we've pretty clearly shown we're at least a Top 10 defense.
And josh allen even said he was playing safe and doing everything not to turn the ball over lol and once again he barely threw for much, so thats your answer for the jets not getting turnovers.. they barely had a chance and thats a credit to them cause other teams are that scared of them

I get Joe's disappointment in the defense, but they also got huge stops when they needed to at the end of the game. Could have easily folded when Flacco fumbled or when Michael Carter fumbled but they held them to 3 points off the turnovers the same way they did against Minnesota, and the killer drive this game was the first drive after they lost Quinnen Williams which is understanable.

I honestly was pulling for the chargers bc I'd rather have 4 teams close for 2 spots instead of 3 teams for 1 spot.. 50% better than 33% and Miami's schedule is brutal along with new England's for sure loss tonight and next week at raiders will get rid of the pats.. funny thing is we might need them against Miami later on but we just gotta win our games period

Jets don't have enough games left to make playoffs. I see 9-8 tie with LAC & lose to tiebreakers, finishing at the 8th seed.
If the Chargers beat the Titans, there's a strong likelihood they run the table (Colts, Rams, Broncos) and get to 11-6. Even if they lose to Tenn, they could be looking at 10-7, unless the Rams actually found lightning in a bottle with Baker. The 7th spot might come down to the Jets or Dolphins, since the Pats have a brutal ending schedule.

Call me crazy, but I’d have Streveler back up White and keep Zach at 3. Flacco needs to be gone. Don’t play Zach because (1) he needs more time to reset, and (2) we need to keep his trade status as high as possible. If Zach plays and still stinks, then we won’t get anything for Zach.

I've been a Jets fan since 1968 and have lived through all the trials and tribulations. These talking heads are nuts! The conspiracy theories regarding Mike White are laughable. Even White acknowledges he did not play well in training camp. And who in their right mind would trade Zach Wilson 20 games into his NFL career? They would trade Zach and then go searching for a high-priced backup? What about the salary cap implications? NUTS! Zach has the tools and just needs time to develop.
Is Mike White going to re-sign? It seems like the better he plays the more likely we lose him.

Hard to get turnovers and pick the ball off when your passing defense is that good and other teams cant/scared to throw the ball.. josh allen only threw for what like 140 yards and not many attempts.. i mean its hard to bash the defense when we have been great against elite receivers and holding them to pretty much nothing and good quarterbacks to not much either.. and then your being negative over a small sample size of the defense giving up a easy/quick touchdown.. the jets defense has been pretty damn clutch especially late in games so chill out and lets not forget the jets defense didn’t start being very good until what week 4?? And thats cause all the young talent/new pieces took a bit to get comfortable and lets not forget the 49ers defense has more vets and players that have been around but the jets are very young and new so its way more impressive to me what they r doing already.. when i watch the jets defense most games its hard to imagine there being another team with a better defense and thats scary with how young/new they are once again

They lost yesterday because of the offsides- that game should have been 0-0 at the half- the two turnovers and the way they managed the clock late. They should have gone for that 4th-and-1 needing a TD, two-point conversion and a field goal, so when you're right there you might as well go because it's going to be nearly impossible to get down there again without timeouts. I can't get on the o-line because it's insane how many injuries they've had and guys coming back into the fold only to go out again. All we heard about was the guys Buffalo was missing, but jeez, has there been a more wracked unit than the Jets' offensive line?
