Celtic Park currently holds 60,000 and has scope to be developed into a 75,000 all seater by completing the original main stand.
We are part owned and controlled by a multi Billionaire owner and have a fanbase who took 80,000 to Seville for a European Final in 2003.
Our restrictions as a Club are primarily down to the constraints of the League we play in not the size or potential of who we are.
I don’t think followers of English football quite get just how much of a sleeping giant our Club is but I guarantee you this ,if we were parachuted into the English top flight we would be competing for the prizes in under 5 years no problem.
Celtic Park would be a massive draw for any professional wishing to play in the mega bucks Premiership.
It all comes down to money in Football.
Celtic operates within its own means as a business and unlike many Clubs in England post a positive turnover every year on average.😮
In a way I’m glad there is opposition to a potential move by the bottom Clubs in England to such a proposal because I prefer my Club to retain its links with the ethics what we were founded on.
We hear it all the time from the English “farmers league” “pub league” etc etc 🤷🏻‍♂️
Well we’ve done not too bad on the European stage playing our football from a relative backwater.
Few English sides have rocked up and made us look like a pub league side despite their millions and billions.
It just makes the victories all the sweeter in my opinion.
Don’t kid yourselves that a Celtic plying it’s trade in England wouldn’t be a force to be reckoned with.
We would and we have been previously.
Leeds,Liverpool,Man Utd and Man City fans have all felt that force.
The great Leeds Utd felt it in front of a European record attendance of 136,505 fans at Hampden Park on the 15th April 1970
No club in England has come close to that.
    None.

The charity, as you put it, comes from Sky Sports and international billionaires and petro-dollars; it doesn’t come from England per se. I think you’re right in that Celtic stays in Scotland. By the way, we’re not anti-English, we just want Ireland and Scotland to be independent - albeit in an EU context - which is a sentiment you seem to agree with unless it’s the sycophantic, lickspittal-type relationship from Rangers Mark 1 or 2. We do welcome more competition though, should that come from an European league much the better. In addition, it would be a policing nightmare for Celtic and Rangers to play in England continually and ever on the same day. 🍀

There's a lot of delusion in this comments section. I don't deny the size of Celtic/Rangers. They're great football clubs. But some of the arguments used to show how 'big' they are don't really add up or make sense. And to think they'd instantly come in and dominate English football is just ridiculous. Being the 'biggest' club doesn't ensure success in English football. In the past 20 years, the top 2 teams have been Chelsea and Man City. Then the usual suspects of Man Utd, Arsenal, Liverpool. It's just money that matters now.
Now sure, if Celtic/Rangers started getting the English TV money, they could rise and compete over time. But 1. The other teams are getting that exact same money to compete with. And 2. The quality of the teams as they are right now, isn't that good.
I watch a bloody awful Everton team every week, but I wouldn't fear Celtic or Rangers turning up at Goodison Park. I mean Rangers literally have 2 rejects from our youth system in Lundstram and Dowell. And currently, I don't think there is a single Celtic/Rangers player I'd even want to sign (if we actually had money to spend). Not all, but a fair portion of them are Championship standard.
In fact, we played Celtic in a friendly in Sydney during the World Cup 'break'. It ended 0-0 and we won on penalties. Even without some our main players, and worst of all, Frank Lampard as a manager (now if that isn't a handicap, I'm not sure what is).
But it's an odd dilemma really. Putting national pride to one side. Scottish teams are better off being in their own league as it stands, since most would just get lost in the pyramid if they merged with English football, and Celtic/Rangers get easy European football every season. But at the same time, you can't compete financially with clubs from other leagues since the population of the country is small and there's only 2 teams worth looking at, making the league almost pointless. I mean Tranmere Rovers are bigger than a third of the teams in the SPL.
Which leads to a different point. If West Ham do Sunday, Thursday, Sunday. The two PL games they play are harder to win than the EL game. But if Rangers do the exact same thing, they're basically playing League One/Two opposition either side of the EL game. But even with that advantage, they'll probably never win anything in Europe again. Which frankly, is just sad. And pretty much were football is at these days. Never mind the corruption.
The entire system needs flipping and the 'big' clubs won't like it; if it happens. Or who knows? Maybe you can join the next attempt at a Super League...

Celtic have an estimated 9 million fans around the world. Liverpool have an estimated 106 million fans around the world. Liverpool have 14 European trophies including 6 European Cups (champions leagues) Celtic have 1 European Cup. Celtic are said to be worth £69 million, Liverpool are estimated to be worth £3.6 billion. Celtic Park holds 60,411, Anfield will hold 61,015 by next season. So how are celtic as big as Liverpool ffs? I can't wait for this.

Liverpool brought 50k to Paris for the champions league final last year. Rangers brought 100k to Seville for the Europe league final last year. (Celtic brought similar numbers in 2003). No doubt Liverpool are bigger in terms of global fans who think football is a TV show and money, suppose that’s what makes a “big” football club eh?

Yes, but most of Liverpool’s fans would struggle to accurately pinpoint the city on a map…and might well change to Citah.

@@Jack-sk1bi Every time i hear those Rangers and celtic numbers it has increased by another 10k 🤣. Celtic couldn't attract anyone when they played Sydney in Ange's back yard. the reason rangers got a decent crowd was because it was scotland's world cup final. Scottish people rarely get to a football final so when a scottish club does get to one, they all become rangers fans for the day. I know because I have scottish relatives who went to that game. they have no interest in rangers at all, they just wanted to enjoy a Scottish final. the crowd proved that. Frankfurt fans absolutely bossed it. Far more vocal. rangers 'fans' were quieter than a nun's fart. They were plastic mate.

So why would Scot’s spend their money to go watch a team they don’t support and can’t even get a ticket for. Stay off the drink mate 🤫🤫
