Greg Chun straight up kills the voice acting as Date.
"PORNO MAG!? WHERE!?"
"Ohthankgod"
"FUCK. YEEEEEEEEEAAAAAAAAAAAH."
Yeah. Really missed those amazing deliveries once I started the sequel. Took me a bit longer to warm up to the new lead.
Kaname Date is the funniest Detective Character I've seen in a game.
Also Hitomi is precious and too pure for this game lol
One thing that stood out to me is that this game has great English voice acting!
Played it a while ago, don't remember tons but that scene where you *****SPOILER******
***SPOILER***
psync with that kids mother with dementia is just HEARTBREAKING. I cried so much. One of my favourite videogame scenes ever.
Dude that killed me. It hit kinda close since my grandpa had it, it absolutely destroyed me. Like I got teary eyed the moment I realized it was dementia and I felt so awful any time I saw her on screen, and then the Somnium with her was just too much.
Having played the game myself I’m not sure if a Fither Ota reskin is a compliment or an insult
AI, while not having as grand and insane of twists compared to Uchikoshi’s other masterpiece, Zero Escape: 999, it definitely has a much stronger world and slice-of-life moments. It’s very funny and tragic, many great times with this game. Probably my favorite VN ever
"Other masterpiece"
There's three, actually. Read Ever17.
@@supervak5584 the real masterpieces and Never7, ZE:VLR, and Remember11 for some people. Ever17 is overrated. In general though the Infinity games are must plays.
@@VarionusNW masterpiece and never7 don't belong in the same sentence
The Iris’ mother twist was awesome tho.
Well I guess I got to see Zero Escape now
The best part about this game for me is looking back after beating it and tracing where the killer was at the end of each route. Especially when they were hiding in plain sight. There’s something so cool about a game trusting the audience to figure shit like that out instead of spelling it out overtly.
There's a lot of those "oh shit" moments in hindsight at the end of a lot of the routes. Fun stuff
The final scene is probably the best way to end a video game
This is a seriously underrated game, and I love when someone on CZcams covers it.
In fairness of the Somnium's having absurd solutions, that's the point. They're dreams, so they operate on dream logic which is basically "whatever the fuck".
Nice, this game needs more attention.
BTW Mizuki route is best route.
Uh... You do realise it still has a bad ending right?
@@T-Jex I mean yeah "I" is dead and "F" never remembers. But "I" is completely f*cked in all routes other than the true one because of her condition.
Mizuki route is the "best" non true ending, because "S" is dead, Ota is alive, and the person who is in "I"
body has F.U money so technically "I" body may still live on. Mizuki and Date comes to a deep wholesome understanding of each other. And Hitomi and boss are alive and well.
I'd agure that other than the true bad ending, Ota route is worst in regards to that. Because the murderer is still on the prowl and has gotten to boss.
@@T-Jex I see it as a Good Ending unlike the Iris ota and annihilate ending that were sad and terrible
@@T-Jex Umm I don't think you should consider that timeline a "bad ending". Unless you think 90% of the game is a bad ending until you finally figure out the true identity of the murderer. Then....sure?
So glad to see this game get covered more, one of my favorites
AI: The Somnium Files is truly a one of a kind experience. I'll never forget it.
Can't wait for the sequel!
A once in a lifetime experience, just beat it today and bro that musical at the end just had me smiling nonstop.
@@ChadHellgado So glad to hear you had a good time. Thank you for giving the game a chance.
If you want more by the same writer the Zero Escape Trilogy is also a once in a lifetime experience.
@@defierofdeath2463 do you think it will have a sequel? I just finished the game 5 minutes ago and wrote on youtube somnium is awesome to see other people say beautiful things of the game too
@@BB-pb3hv There is already a sequel in the works, coming out June 25th!
Look up Ai: The Somnium Files Nirvana Initiative. c:
Don't remind me that I still have so many games on the "need to play someday" list.
i also like how the final who is the killer plot twist actually works and makes perfect sence with all timelines, games like this tend to have their final revelation be so out there and nonsensical or out of left field just to fool the player only to fall on its face. so it was actually really nice that everything made perfect sense and just worked while keeping the player guessing but still providing enough clues that you can connect them on your own
AI is the sort of game that I don't understand the obscurity of, especially in the weeb scene. It's a great game with a pretty big name (Kotaro Uchikoshi, the Zero Escape guy) behind it and yet it went completely under the radar for whatever reason. Any exposure it gets makes me happy.
I think it didnt get much attention because when it launched the game had terible user metacritic reviews because a bunch of dumb homophobes decided to spam the page with 1/10 scores for having that scene where Mizuki says stuff about LGBT rights
@@kiroubada the spam was actually by a guy who thought the game wasn't pro-lgbt enough iirc. I believe they were an active Resetera user at least.
Edit: I apologize, it was a false flag operation by one resetera user to make it seem like homophobes were mass 1 starring the game because he had a personal slight against Uchikoshi I think? Was some weird drama at the time.
cant wait for nirvana initiative in the spring
God I love this game. After ZTD ended up being a well intentioned wet fart, I was so happy Uchikoshi rebounded this strong. I can't believe we're getting a sequel next year.
This looks wacky as all hell, I'm getting it
Its definitely worth it.
I've had it on my Playstation for ages because I love the artist. He also drew the characters for FE Awakening, Fates, and two blades for Xenoblade Chronicles 2.
FITHER MAKING VIDEO ABOUT AI?! HOLY SHIT BASED KING AGAIN
Aslo shout out to uchikoshis goofy writing
Cannot get over bros intro. I always forget about it but when I click I am always greeted by the warmest "ayyyyyyyyyyyy" literally banger ass intro
This game is so great. Fricken hilarious. Aiba and Date are definitely in my top ten favorite duos ever. Also it has the art style of the FE Awakening/Fates artist.
I’m finally getting to the true ending tomorrow. Everything culminating to the final ending has been absolutely amazing. I really want to pick up a physical copy before they become even more rare than they are now.
Did you saw the scene where all of the budget went?
@@T-Jex what scene are you referring to? The very end?
Shout out to Hitomi ☝️
I'm glad I finally completed this game It was incredible to experience Can't wait for the sequel Also the voice acting was amazing (Some notable ones include Greg Chun, Erika Harlacher) 🙌
To me every single aspect of this game seems to be running on dream logic. Loved all the silly wrong answers in the psychs.
This game is amazing, voice acting in the dub is fucking like, dear lord this was the first time in a murder mystery where I dreaded talking to people connected to the victim because the acting goes hard in this game.
More people should play this game. I'm so happy it had a sequel announced, but I hope it doesn't get slept on.
Gotta give props to a game that generally got me crying.
(I'm emotional, but I also hate being manipulated so many times during "sad" scenes I just become pissed)
perfect timing! A sequel was announced not too long ago
Can’t wait for the sequel! 😁
Glad to see you covering this amazing game! Can't wait for the sequel!
I just got it actually, and have only played a bit. Loving it so far!
It's funny how you posted this video when I finished this game just this month because a friend also gifted it to me.
It's such an amazing experience and the story was insane and the jokes made me laugh so much. Somehow the insane jokes still worked because the serious moments were realistic and never pulled bullshit, it told it how it is.
As someone who has gotten all the Major Endings, This bat-shit crazy game is indeed worth trying. I got it on XBox GamePass when I played it.
Man I'm so glad you finally got around to playing AITSF, it's so fucking good
Glad to see that you played this game, it is amazing indeed
Thx for the video. I was looking for a new mystery game. Now im off to play
AI definitely has interesting story with plenty of good engaging and funny moments, but I do feel like the game has some moments where the comedy just doesn’t fit at all (like the porno mag stuff in the middle of intense sequences, which while funny at first got old quickly IMO). I am quite excited for the upcoming sequel tho, as Mizuki seems to be the protagonist and she along with Date and Aiba were the aspects that I enjoyed the most about the game.
AI has always kinda interested me but the puzzles was always something I wasn’t sure I would enjoy but this actually give me that push
Playing it rn on Switch and it's awesome! I'll be definetly buy the sequel (that's out to be released on June 24th)
If you liked this game, I recommend you try out the series written by the same creator, the zero escape series, probably start with 999 to see if you like it but it's still an enjoyable story that'll have you at the end of your seat.
SOMNIUMCHADS WE ROLL
FINALLY AISTF EXPOSURE THIS GAME IS SO UNDERRATED lol that Ota edit on the thumbnail lol IF U HAVENT PLAY AITSF NOW!
It’s an enjoyable experience with the highlight being the character relationships and writing with an intriguing plot. The problem is that too many problems are solved via perviness and the main mechanic of how information is preserved. You know if you’ve played 999, but it’s not established in the game proper. Enjoyable but flawed.
Dont forget the animations, the action scenes lost all intensity when the guns cant hit a Target 1 meter away from them that moves at the speed of a snail
Awesome as always but I do have a bit of a question for you.
Now that SNT and persona have equal number entries now. I've always wondered how well could the persona teams handle their respective SMT Number entry world's. Like you took them and just threw them in the world
Maybe the investigation team might actually have a chance dealing with SMt4 world.
Compared to s.e.e.d.s Dealing with the vortex world but I doubted
I bought this game because of this video and I just platinumed it. I liked it a whoole lot more than I thought I would, literally could not stop playing so thank u Fither this makes this the 2nd game you've recommended that became one of my favorites (the other being 13 Sentinels :) )
How strange new ai videos are coming out the week I decided to go finally finish it.
Just got this on sale. Im enjoying it so far
I hear you liked the structure of AI, I think you should try Zero Escape games. They are made by the same creator and have similar route structure.
Yea. Generally if you like AI, you'll enjoy most of the other games written by Kotaro Uchikoshi. The main recommendations are the Zero Escape games and the Infinity trilogy. A lot of fans argue AI is middling to bad compared to everything but Zero Escape: Zero Time Dilemma, so if you like AI, Infinity and ZE are worth playing.
@@VarionusNW Unpopular opinion maybe, but I actually like the characters in AI more than Zero Escape by a considerable margin. The plot in the first 2 ZE's make up for the characters by a long shot, but I think AI strikes a good balance.
@@megaultrasonic I think Ai does develop it's characters a tiny bit, which is more than ZE, it's just also arguable that some of those characters are much more insufferable if slightly better realized.
It's about time! Now play Danganronpa, Zero Escape, and the rest of Ace Attorney!
I remember someone selling this game to me on Ace Attorney Online.
This game is so convoluted and nonsensical and still manages to somehow make an interesting story
The greatest game
4:29 I just realized Ota has a hexagon pfp
One of my favs
just finished this game and WOW it was amazingggg
Elephant
This game bombed hard in Japan but word of mouth made it popular
Yoooo i love AI: The somnium files
Literally perfect game
Have you played the sequel yet? If so do you plan on making a vid?
I loved this game, but I started hating the "le porno mag??? xdddd" gag the 10th time it happened
You love to see it
YES YES I NEED MORE PEOPPE TO RALK ANOUT THIS GAME
gotta love/loathe mr bone fetish himself
LETS GO FITHER THIS GAME IS THE GOAT
Literally finished this game today! Wish I enjoyed it as much as you did :/
Very based, very cool.
I definitely won't play it, but man Do I love to watch people play thia game! Btw, Aiba is my favorite character.
Why not?
@@redxlillard7880 i guess the gameplay does it grab me that much
@@steampunk1610 u should try it first
@@steampunk1610 theres a Demo for the game if you want to give it a try without any buyers remorse
Question do you also "play" persona 5?
Fithota Fithota
Ota is not worthy of the Fither Suit. Fither is too chadly for Ota’s simpage.
I love this game but everytime Ota appears on the screen makes me want to punch it
who is al
Yes! I just started this game ... and you know what? It makes me think that a sci-fi world where you can enter people's dreams would make for a great Persona 6 setting.
this game is stupidly unerated and the sequel is SO HYPED!
AI Agenda
i saw Reine playing this but i havent really taken too much interest
I just really hate the cringy idol. Every thing else is good.
There was a lot of cringy moments but still a great game
I heavily disagree with Ai knowing how to balance its tone with the serious moments. The action scenes were almost exclusively terrible for this exact reason. Almost all of them were exactly the same. Date runs into some dudes, they attack him, he fights back, we're all well and good, and then the fucking porno mags come out. Every time, all but one. The only time this doesn't happen in an action scene is during the final fucking one. And what do you know. That scene is the best action scene of the lot. Because it's not tonally fucked. I can handle the silly "Aiba can basically see the future but it's actually an insanely complex run through of all the scenarios and she does things to make Date act how she wants for the situation so he can win". That part is silly, but it's also sci-fi nonsense that is not unfamiliar, so whatever. The porno mags just make every single character in every single action scene without exception dumb as a bag of bricks. The fucking thugs are tripping over themselves trying to see the porno mag and it ruined any tension the scenes had. Every God damn time. It is a funny game, but it's funny in its character interactions. Most other times it tries to be funny, it falls flat.
