I gotta say, as a student who studied the three kingom in both Chinese history and Chinese lesson this year, I gotta say the Zhu Ge Liang adaptation is pretty spot on.

Spy x Family has been such a great manga, that I'm so glad the anime seems to be doing it justice (and even enhancing it in some ways)
I feel that the bar for animation quality these days has been raised so much that even some of the not so well-known shows are getting top-notch animation quality.

I love watching these every season and looking at all the anime that I want to watch but know I'll never actually have/make time for. If the past couple years are any indication if I end up finishing more than one show this season it'll be a miracle...

Hey Gigguk, I think it would be really cool if you had a follow up video every season, kinda similar to this, going over which anime you finished and liked, finished and didn't like, ones you skipped, or ones you dropped. I personally watch these videos to know which ones to keep in mind, and as a college (or uni) student, I don't have as much free time as I used to in high school, so I want to make sure my free time is spent watching something enjoyable and good. That also means I don't have the time some seasons to watch a show while it's airing, but no Ani-Tuber ever talks about shows after they air, at least not in the same way they talk about them before they air.

I'd Just recommend going through the seasonal MAL after all the shows have finished airing. Ik people shit on MAL for not having accurate enough ratings or whatever, but if you go on MAL and the show has an 8+ rating, the show's most probably at least decent.

Dress-up Darling was fabulous for a lot of people but none of its genres matched my likings, so I dropped it after giving it the three-episode rule. Now I wouldn't put 2* on it on MAL just because it's not my type, but some people will do it. So the ratings are at times a very bad representation of the anime itself if its themes, genres, concepts etc. ain't mainstream.
But MAL is still probably the best way to check out the best anime. That's a fact.

I came into this season expecting to watch SpyxFamily and Kaguya (and was not disappointed), but Ya Boy Kongming is definitely the show that caught me by surprise the most
I only decided to check it out cause on my timeline was a clip of kongming making shots behind the bar serving drinks like a champ on his first day, had to check it out after that and so happy I did.

Oh for sure, this is one of the best seasons for comedy anime I've seen in ages personally. Ya boy kongming, kaguya, spy x family, hell even the isekai with Trapped in a Dating Sim, all make me laugh routinely each episode. Fantastic

This season is simply wonderful. But I missed the memory of the full-length film "Bubble" from Netflix, whose animation was and the graphics were terribly great
Ya Boy Kongming makes a lot of sense to me when looking at it plainly- to make it anywhere in today's world, especially to stardom, you need a high-level tactician to pull the strings behind the scenes. So many people with stellar talent and/or trained skills go unnoticed.
Today's singers need a manager capable of using every stratagem to gain fame and money and, if all else fails, lay siege to their rival's mansions, breach their defenses and pillage their homes, leaving nothing but blood and ashes in their wake.

Shokei Shoujo No Virgin Road is surprisingly intriguing this season. It’s more of a reverse isekai with splendid visuals & a unique cast. The animation as well is badass. The light novel is equally as good!

I remember reading Three Kingdoms in my early teen and just CRYING, BALLING my eyes out when Kongming died. Seeing him so happy in this goofy ass anime meant more than I could describe. The Chinese anime community seems split on opinions about this show but I'm fully with it. The author is also very clearly a hardcore Three Kingdoms euthusiast

Trust me as a manga reader, this series does a good job at developing each girl and doesn't just use them to fill a quota, the mc has an actual spine and (although it's not finished yet) the series is very clearly going towards the direction of the male and female lead getting together!

Gorgeous art, great voice acting, changes that actually makes sense to do! (Like extending scenes from the manga that would have felt overly short in the anime.) And the OP is an absolute BANGER!

For a show like Ya Boy Kongming I had never heard of before the season started, it's definitely my favorite sleeper/unexpected hit of the season and right up there with Spy X Family, Kaguya and Komi.

I slept on Skeleton Knight's LN for a long time before finally picking it up for the same reason: comparing it to Overlord. People compare it to Overlord but the only things it has in common are: Isekai as their video game character and their avatar was a skeleton. After that, the overall mood of the story shifts in a completely different direction. I'll probably watch the anime after it finishes but I'm almost caught up on the LNs and it's really not bad at all. At least a 7.5/10 imo so far.
I wish there would be more seasons to a year, so Garnt would make more of these videos :D

Paripi Koumei is DEFINITELY worth of attention from basically anyone. It's sharply written, it's entertaining and the adaptation is moving fast enough.

Dude I love the show. The way they incorporated the different stratgems to modern day situations is amazing. The music is great. The VA is perfect for Kongming. It's such a wonderful twist on the isekai genre.
Music tastes differ person to person, even when the population of music anime fans is already small. I personally love music anime but this anime's music just isn't for me, catchy mediocre pop

I've started reading the Tomodachi Game manga and I can honestly tell you it will get so much more interesting in the next few episodes. I was skeptical at first since I thought it was just gonna be another boring ass death game, but I love that there is nothing supernatural about. It is just pure mind games, and I'm all for that.
Coming from someone who loves Death Games, and is caught up on the manga. Tomodachi Game has probably one of the best series of mind games and one ups I’ve ever seen. So much so it might was well be called “All According To Keikaku” the anime.

You know with how many great anime we've had in the past year I do have to wonder if Covid has been helping with that, all the delays and staff having to take time off surely means they're getting more time to work on these shows.
If this is the case I hope these companies realize everything doesn't need to be so rushed and their workers don't need to be overworked to make great quality products, what a nice change that would be after these past two years of nonsense.
If it means we get less shows but more actually good quality shows, that would be a win win for everyone.
The kingdom management trope, there is a cheaper-made show called Maoyu from 2013 that is totally that. animation and character writing are dated now but i was surprised when i watched it on how much effort was put into the world building. its based on a light novel with 63 chapters between 2010 and 2012.

I had to come back here, because I just finished Summer Time Rendering. It is one of my favourite anime series of all time now, it truly has you hooked and surprised at every turn and it truly made me care for every single character until the very end. For anyone who comes back to this, make sure to watch it.

I watched a few episodes of Friends Game and I'm gonna add it to the Summer Time Rendering list of: "please stick the landing". Gonna try the "no virgin road" next.

Knowing summertime render is finished manga they should be able to stick the landing pretty well especially since it's going to be a 24 episode and that they are adapting around 1 vol per 3 episode
