Zefiro Mellacqua speech - Eric Berne Memorial Award 2024 - July 27th

Zefiro Mellacqua, MD, is the recipient of the 2024 Eric Berne Memorial Award in recognition of his elaboration of a transactional analysis model for the conceptualization and treatment of schizophrenia in clinical practice.
Zefiro is a psychiatrist and Certified Transactional Analyst (psychotherapy) who currently serves as the Medical Director at the Cantonal Psychiatric Clinic, Organizzazione Sociopsichiatrica Cantonale in Mendrisio, Switzerland.
Zefiro Mellacqua’s writings on the treatment of schizophrenic psychoses bring a compelling, humane, and deeply informed theory and methodology to the transactional analysis psychotherapy of these profoundly distressed individuals. In so doing, Zefiro undertakes an extraordinary return to Berne’s original writings, reexamining and expanding them through a contemporary lens of psychiatric, trauma-based, and relational perspectives.
