My Grandmother was an Ostertag, and her ancestors were executioners. At some point, a group of them decided they wanted to leave the business. But you don’t have much income. Even with the free food you have to rely on selling stuff of the executed to live. Besides probably everybody dislikes you. Definitely not a nice job to have.
But, if you're only killing people who deserved it, it'd be a good job. But it depends on what you deem appropriate. It would be nice if you could refuse to kill him because you didn't deem the crime worthy of death, and have someone else do it. That would be pretty nice.
