I have a single flush toilet. In this toilet, I could set it to half a gallon, which means less than 2 litres in a flush. It flushes the liquid waste nicely.
For solid waste I have to keep pressing its lever for a second more which flushes the solid and I believe it is about a gallon of water.
The fluidmaster new fill valves are quick to fill the water back into the tank.
Hidden from the eyes behind the toilet is the pipe which takes the flushed water and waste. Whatever is inside the raised part of that pipe comes back after the flush. The longer the raised part of the hidden pipe is the more water it takes to really flush it off.

GOOD VIDEO! But, I'd add the following. (I'm retired, so please excuse me IF I'm out of line. Thanks)
    1. ONLY purchase 'round' toilets, EXCLUSIVELY for woman and children.
(A gentleman, can explain why, IF he's EVER used a round 1.)
    2. You can NOW add "overflow" protection to your porcelain collection in the lavatory. YES! (Penguin, American Standard and Mansfield offer these products. I've ONLY been able to find 2pc versions though.
We've had overflow protection in sinks and bathtubs, since I can remember. Why did THIS idea, take so long? (rhetorical question)
    Q. How about seat heights? When the manufacturer lists "bowl" height, is it simply w/ NO seat?
    Q. What about mounting toilets? Wall models that don't sit on the floor versus those that do, w/ wax seals versus newer methods? IS this a consideration?
    Q. Is there a specific name for corner models or is it just a 'tank' design and NOT the bowl?
Find the model w/ the lowest height and then, measure and add the seat you desires height.
    For those

3.78 litres = 1 U.S. Gallon. The Rest of the world is metric, including the medical field in the U.S. I read that the U.S. was suppose to change to the metric system. In 1975, the United States passed the Metric Conversion Act. The legislation was meant to slowly transition its units of measurement from feet and pounds to meters and kilograms, bringing the US up to speed with the rest of the world. So much for that idea.

Are there other considerations between brands and toilets and general other than the water saving features or styles? Interior components, for instance, or the size of the trapway or the materials of construction or quality of fit and finish? I have heard that some brands don't have fully glazed trapways and some do and it seems to me that this alone would go a long way towards things staying generally cleaner and less clogging.

Late answer but toilets have different shapes inside what effects water flow and those what are badly designed are more likely to be blocked by "solid waste" even if you use big flush.
People of then think that water saving toilets are weaker than older models but usually it's because many new toilets are badly designed.

Hi Mitravind, thank you for your question! 1 piece toilets do not have more maintenance than 2 piece toilets in terms of the flush mechanism. Typically speaking, the flush mechanism does not need to be replaced as 1 piece toilets are very durable. The only thing to keep in mind is that if your 1 piece toilet has a specialty system for the flush mechanism then the replacement parts may be less readily available.

Please: if one bends with loose clothing, it shows. Remember the video and tight tops help to eliminated distractions. Thank you.

Handle flush 14 litre toilets all the way. They don’t make em like they used to.

All ugly toilets. You have to see European, wall-mounted toilets, for example from Geberit. Your mouth stays open!

A nice looking toilet can flush a deuce just as well as an ugly one.

With a measly 1.28 gpf, you will need to flush your toilet up to 3 times for a 4 gallon flush, as opposed to a 3 gal flush old fashioned toilet. The whole scam of 1.28 or .6 gpf is a sham. Who flushes a toilet used by some massive individual with a half gallon of water!!!!!! I crack up when Lowe's uses golf balls as examples. Show me the human being who passes golf balls in their stool and I'll show you a dna problem.

It is not a sham. My mom has a 1.28 gpf and that sucker flushes like nobody's business. She's had t for a 10 years at this point.
