Yup. That thing is slaying those logs! Can really tell the difference between the two hydraulic pumps the LT70 has vs the LT40HDDW I’ve got. Beautiful mill guys and excellent milling 😀👍🏼
Glad to see you at the helm of the LT70 once more...been a while, but it sounds like you have been pretty busy, what with having a regular job and the saw mill. Not much time for goofing off. You have certainly taught yourself how to get the most out of the new mill. While it is definitely operable with a single person, it seems to flow better with a second person...I don't think it was your dad so it was possibly your brother. Nice teamwork! The LT70 makes it easier to operate with only one person with the lumber dropping down near the operator. Now all that is left is automating getting the log onto the lift arms. This definitely saves time. I think you would have had a tougher time doing this if you were still in your old shed. You have working space here. Real nice looking logs you have. Are you buying these or are you harvesting them yourself? Keep up the good work! Stay healthy.

I almost bought a frick about 4 years ago. It was/is a fantastic, running mill with one extra 52” (I believe) blade with buckets of spare teeth, good running Detroit diesel power unit and the fella was asking $4,200. I told him I was wanting to double check measurements and I’d be back the following week to take measurements of his mill so I could put in some concrete before we tried moving it that way we could just unbolt a section at a time at his place and transfer it to mine and set back in place and bolt it back down and together and two days later I had to have emergency surgery and was in the hospital for a couple weeks and when I got out and recovered enough to discuss it again, he had decided to keep it again. I did notice tho lately that he has not hardly run it much in the past year so I’m curious if he would be interested in selling again. How long have you had your Frick and do you like it? I know they are much more work than a woodmizer but the cost is a huge factor!! Take care brother and be safe around both the Frick and the Jeep! I think you and I would get along great! I’ve got 4 jeeps

Nice work and shop,.. i would definitely add a exhaust hose with fan of some sort ... diesel exhaust is heavy and poisonous and always falls downwards... health is precious.

Yes the cedar smell is very strong but we hardly smell it anymore we’re so used to it. The reason for the rain and snow in the videos I make is because that’s the only time I have extra time to make videos lol. When it’s dry I just don’t have the time to make videos. My brother does all the wood turning I could ask him about making a video to post👍

Hey thanks! During this video I was using a 10 degree Kasco brand blade. I don’t really recommend them though, right now I’m using 739 from Woodmizer and love them they last way longer. Just depends on the mill you have as well for which type you can run
Did you modify your mill so that the hydraulics work without the head being retuned to the home position? I notice that you were able to release the log holder when the mill head was at the opposite side of the home position.
Woodmizer made that change a couple years ago so the newer models have that ability now. I remember when I was ordering my LT 50 and talking to the woodmizer rep about that but I think they only made that change on the 70’s but I could be wrong. But it does help with the speed of things tho
The camera view from behind you the Sawyer is a much better view for what we are subscribers would like to see. Are you the couple who are selling the sawdust in little packages? If not, you should look into that people like to have the smell in their closet. Stay safe.🇨🇦✌️
@@pattonwoodworks electric also eliminates the potential to be mobile also, especially when its 3 phase. But if you know you will never move the mill, then it can be a great way to go
For red cedar we don’t sticker any orders. 95% of the orders are used straight off the mill. It’s not like oak where it will twist and warp all over this just shrinks 1/16-1/8” typically. Most people for the decks, planter boxes and fences we cut for are good with that. Some people who use for interior walls and woodworking projects let the wood dry for a few weeks before using
You can look up the prices on woodmizer.com if you really want to know but if your sitting here asking then I promise you, it’s out of your price range. A top of the line, loaded out pickup truck will be less than this is
All BS aside on average whats a good day in Bdft/hr counting changing blades and having the logs there? I just seen a video stating 40,000,000 in 20,000 Hrs. with a LT70 and as far as I can find anywhere thats legit a 1000 Bdft/hr is tops a 7000 with 3 people in 8 hrs is great. What are your thoughts?
I don’t cut anywhere near that because we cut small red cedar logs and it’s just my dad and I cutting. We probably cut 500-1000 bf a day avg and I’m very happy with that we cut smaller custom orders. Ive cut for a group of people up north and they had 6 people helping cutting big logs and we cut 10,000 bf a day. The mill will cut it, that’s not the problem. The problem is having enough people and logs to keep up with it.

Because cedar dust is extremely harmful to your lungs! There’s a lot of animals that it will kill if they breath the cedar dust , especially chickens, turkeys and other birds
Awesome machine maybe a few hundred hours give it something to naw on it looks like it isnt accomplishing what it is ment for its screaming use me use me. Naw I'm kidding I'm sure it's doing excactly what u need it to nice setup I wish I had a belt under my sawdust chute sometimes

I have not changed anything on it. It is the way the Lt70 is. It is very very handy to be able to use hydraulics no matter where the head is
Woodmizer made that change a couple years ago so the newer models have that ability now. I remember when I was ordering my LT 50 and talking to the woodmizer rep about that but I think they only made that change on the 70’s but I could be wrong. But it does help with the speed of things tho

in this size of log, 4minutes is ok, we work whit 40-60cm logs normally (size doesnt fix in the TVS) and takes a little bit more

I’d love to have a electric motor on this mill but Production with electric is 3phase and that is out of the question for the time being.

I didn't see stickers used in piling. Is that customer specific? I would think stickering as you pile is the way to go.
