What a beautiful build, you really inspire me to give my 07 a facelift. Witch version of the headlights do you have? The blinkers seem like the stage 3. Thank you for posting this video Matt.
My setup is actually a custom one they built back when I was running customer service for them. I have a new setup going on in a few weeks that will be available on the website. They’ll be called the stealth series and should look pretty sharp! Lights definitely make a huge difference when trying to update the looks of FJs.

Interior video is coming out next week if things go according to plan! However, you’ll see that I actually decided to leave that factory. 😂 A lot of people are surprised by that.
Freaking beautiful! The only thing I don't like is the rock rails painted red, I like red accents but those are so big lol.

Wow this FJ is absolute perfection! For the rear flush mount pods did you just cut out a space for them in the bumper wings?
I did! As well as a hole through the bumper plastic behind the wings for the wiring. These pods luckily come with a paper template, so it’s much easier.

Put the OE headlights and turn signals back on it, then paint the skid plate, LCAs and sliders black, and it would be even better looking!

Hi Matt. great video and build! What gains or losses to torque and horsepower did your exhaust system add; could you share links for the specific system you installed and where you purchased the y-pipes? Do you recall the overall cost?
Hi Brett, sorry for the slow response. It appears that Underdog Racing Development no longer sells the exact exhaust I have. It was called the Spec-U and it included the equal length Y-pipe in the kit. If I remember right, the kit was about 1.2k USD. It’s definitely more open than the stock exhaust, but most noticeable gains came from doing an AFE Momentum GT intake and a MAF controller, also from Underdog Racing Development. Sorry I can’t be of more help!
I have 2 FJ Cruisers! One VERY low mile version that I have had since my parents bought my first for me, 12 years ago when I was 16! I just keep her maintained because Toyota said they have never seen one with such low mileage. These will be worth a fortune in a decade or 3 lol. I have a second I bought to mod, including Magnuson supercharger. I have done every type of mod there is lol. So i can say, in my expert opinion as an FJ owner, this definitely looks good!
I was a bit iffy about on the grill change, at first. I like to preserve her beautiful factory grill and lights. However, yours grew on me as the video progressed lol. This build looks very clean and super modern! Nice job! I'd checking this out at overland expo, if I seen it there!

That’s awesome having two! Especially as you are keeping one mint but having fun modding the other. I’d love to get a second FJ, but if I do, it’ll probably be to do more of a budget build. Haha
I’ve actually changed up my headlight and signal lights since this video, but I like the updated look they all give. The factory chrome ones do date the FJ a bit.

@@fj_matt I bought the second one for a steal from a friend that was moving to Asia for work. I have had my fun with it and about ready to sell it to make room for something new! It had pretty high kilometers when I got it, and I added enough since we supercharged it lol.

Can't wait to pick mine up from the shop. All I need on mine is the Expedition one mule roof rack, front Tinker design tri hoop bumper and the dirt king 3.5 long travel suspension. I went with engine performance first and interior, racing seats, 5 point harness, digital dash, full URD exhaust headers all way back, intake, throttle body spacer, throttle control module, dual battery, 17 inch gold primm bead lock - black rhino wheels on 285 bf goodrich k02's and Unichip ECU tuned at 93 octane. I think we need to put put FJ's side by side once mines out the shop. 🤙🏼I think you did beat me on the front and rear lights through.
That’s quite the list! Definitely a little more performance oriented, but I’ve done a few things so that I can move these heavy 35s (soon to be 37s) around. Haha that long travel will be sick!
@FJMatt I can't wait to have it all put together! I just go by around every 2 months to the shop to look at it through the window 😂🤣 I still don't even know how it looks entirety or how it sounds at all with all the upgrades. It's been in the shop since May of last year 🥺🥺 And yeah I went more for performance than anything with the 5 tunes it has and Unichip ECU upgrade I should be pushing close to 350hp to the wheels not the crank. Then after I finish the long travel suspension, the URD Whipple supercharger is the last thing i will upgrade as I will def go up to 35 inch yokahoma geolander MTs as BMC is already done and will be more than able to with the long travel suspension and I will have the first and only FJ to probably reach the 400+ hp range on the original engine. I do love those lights though may I know where you got them? I might end up replacing then again 🤣😂 I love thar look.
Been thinking about moving from my 4runner to a FJ......and you just made that decision MUCH EASIER ! Incredible build.....any chance you would disclose the cost of upgrades ?
A rough idea is about 30k Canadian into everything.

Would you happen to be willing to message me on Instagram? I can pop the cap off to give you a close up look. I basically cut out a square hole, siliconed one in place, and then used a rubber gasket I had hanging around to make it look clean.

I’ll post a link to their website just after this comment. This was a custom setup, so I had them add the FJ etching. I think they still offer it on some of their headlights, but not all. The next setup that I’m getting sadly won’t have it. I’m glad you enjoyed the video!

I’m doing an updated build video in a couple of weeks here, and I can go through some of the cost on there if you would like. Being in Canada means that everything is more expensive, but I’d have to say there’s probably around 35k in just parts, paint and other mods on it right now. Obviously, people don’t need to go that crazy and it was done over many years. Haha
I mean, it’s nice for sure. You definitely need a flowmaster on there cuzzint.
I actually removed the big muffler from the system, and now it sounds better than any FJ exhaust I’ve ever heard. 🤙🏼
