I am still shocked that the Blues added Suter. That gives them 9 defensemen on one-way contracts! SMH 😮
@@gregc8483 Armstrong relapsed
As a Wild fan, I’m convinced he doesn’t care about winning a cup. He just wants to continue to piss of Minnesota.
@@Charles_Groebs a noble ambition
Pun intended; Pretty wild 😜
It's a league minimum deal with incentives, so it's very low risk. And I wouldn't be surprised if we move someone out as well, but we'll see.
lmao
"Stenlund won a ring with Florida. Sergachev won a couple rings with Tampa. Marino... played in New Jersey."
He forgot Cole won a ring in Carolina
I love how dry his delivery and humor is.
Tampa
@@ukrainian.g.o.a.t.566that was Erik! Ian won two with Pittsburgh tho
@@ukrainian.g.o.a.t.566Pittsburgh
Keep up the good work Shannon! I listen to your videos while I’m on my dinner break sitting in my truck. Couldn’t imagine better company
For the Avs, getting Drouin resigned at that price was a steal & keeping Casey as a 2nd center is good. Now if they can get Gabe back healthy & Nuke actually comes back, they could certainly be at the top of the central.
Insane value getting drouin for $2.5mil when he was looking closer to high $4 million AAV range on the free market. I think they will move on from Nuke at this point, but having that $6 million available while trading him could be nice, or even getting some of it back if they buy him out will help. And of course Gabe coming back will be huge!
It seems like market value to me. Drouin has a very situation-specific track record
@@RK-fh4bp I agree with your comment. Thing is, how many chances do you give Val? He's left the team twice in the postseason now. Seems like a liability. So yeah I wouldn't be surprised if they maybe did move on from him.
Landeskog is highly motivated, and he may show up on the ice, in Nov. - ish. Nuke I would think is wearing out his welcome, being a distraction 2 years in a row, despite his talent.
Blues just love singing old defenseman that are out of their prime
I mean the music style is full of old people out of their prime, they are just respecting the team’s name.
I would counter that statement and say that blues is the best genre for artists to age in, unlike other genres.
It's not a big mystery with a number of these additions: gap-fillers/place-holders until younger guys are ready, and/or pending being able to make a significant move (or moves) to rework the blueline. Plus they add veteran presence/experience. I don't think anyone's under the impression we're on the verge of being cup contenders atm.
@@davidroberts1026 True, I just wish we made some moves to have a younger blue line because our offense is pretty solid already
@@masonv6766Nmcs are a pain, and they dont want to leave so we wait for their deals to expire. Kind of works out that when the guys on defense are done, the crop of young forwards should be blossoming, kyrou and thomas close to prime years, and lots of cap space to fill holes...if thats 6 dmen so be it.
"Were vegas and tampa right?" Might be a question Nashville asks in the next couple seasons.
After this season Jets are gonna continue doing their thing by trading Comrie for Brossoit.
After this season I would expect neither. I believe you'll see Thomas Milic as the #2.
@@andrewgreen815definitely not lmao barring any injuries
I kinda dislike it when people say Preds won free agency.
Preds signed a bunch of old guys for a lot of money. Will they fit in well? Will they manage to stay good enough to justify their cap hits?
I mean, it looks good, but will it be good on ice? Or will the biggest deadline winner actually be some team that didn't sign anyone for more than, like, 3M?
I await the Ehlers + McGroarty trade. It should make things interesting.
Dallas is going miss Pavelski can't wait till the time when you do career Pavelski video
Already did.
Thanks so much for all your great information! I really appreciate your passion and work! 🙌🙏
Maroon going to Chicago is just crazy.
He just loves the central
He’ll get traded at the deadline but there’s also a few other vets who fit his playstyle
He's won enough cups. He's in highest contract each year mode.
It’s gross for the hometown hero to go there
@@jon-eriksuermann9844he's closer to home but it's still an aberration
Utah for wildcard! this should be fun
Nashville did the most in free agency and clearly improved their team right now. However, not sure how that Marchessault contract will age and that Skjei contract is gonna hurt in a few years.
Preds hopefully can capitalize on their moves, but I’m healthily skeptical
Awesome video as always, lets go stars!
I’m surprised Phil Kessel or Jonathan Toews didn’t get signed.
Didn't Toews retire?
@@the6ig6adwolf no
I’m not they’re done
Utah still has that cap space! :)
These two proven veterans being passed on, is surprising.
Great video and analysis as always!
Excited to see this division race this year, colorado v nashville v dallas will be a wild fight if all teams play to expectations
I love hockey! Don’t sleep on Utah! Howling !!!
WE GOT RYAN SUTER BABY (and depression watching Maroon in a Hawks jersey)
It seems almost every team in the league added a questionable/eyebrow raising contract this off-season. The year of the reclamation project?
Happens every year
Florida didn’t. Grabbed guys on minimums and locked up Reinhart/Lundell.
@@TjayK2 I said almost and most cup winners it's a matter of who did they lose not who did they sign. But fair is fair the recent Stanley cup winner in a state without income tax made some good moves in the off-season. There are a bunch of teams who signed questionable contract either in term or aav or both.
Tarasenko is with Detroit now, interesting
I hope the Stars lower their prices for tickets because of this move. They really expect me to pay money to see Matt Dumba?
I'm gonna find a new team to pull for.
Hey Hockey Guy, any chance we could get a video on the expanded AHL playoffs next year? Or in a news video?
Suter just loves hopping between Central Division teams, and in turn getting bought out by them
Go Preds good offseason for us so far!!
My main concern for Nashville would be the age/injury history of the players they signed. But if it works, they should be a fun team to watch… when they’re not playing my Blues
For the Blues, yeah, who knows what’s going to happen. To me, the only part of the lineup that I’m comfortable with is goaltending. As the forward group stands, I think we have one first liner (Thomas), a few second liners, and a bunch of 3rd/4th liners. Gonna be some NHL contracts in Springfield. I mean, best case scenario is that the Zach’s and Dvorsky fight for some ice time, but I don’t know what their ceiling is.
Is Nashville the most improved team?
Shannon, how about a video on the Four Nations tournament? Potential rosters for each team. And how do you feel about the Russians not getting a team? Seems crazy that Panarin, Ovi and Kucherov don’t get included.
I expect the Wild to take a step forward this year and make the playoffs. It won't be easy, but that is the trajectory we need to be on to hit our cup window in its full potential. The fourth spot seems up for grabs and I think we can beat the Jets to it.
The absolute distraction himself - Andrew Cogliano!
I’m worried about the Avs…it all hinges on two players and it could get ugly real fast.
I think it's a 4 way race for the top 3 between Avs Preds Winni Dallas.. now Utah could really be a wrench. We'll have to see. Tbh I could see pred or stars taking number 1 this year. Wouldn't shock me of Avs fall to the wild card. 🤷♂️ interested to see thisbyear for sure :)
3 players in my books
@@Dutchovenderlinde You mean if they got hurt? Yeah that would happen to any team.
I could be very wrong, but I would take the field over the Blackhawks finishing 8th in the central. What do you guys think??
When is PTO season
Let’s go Blues
Listen to Turnstile.
St Louis just confuses me lol
Wonder how will stamkos adapt in new team. Perhaps he can reboot himself, because i don't see Nashville would be happy with slowly walking pp forward
Pavelski was just out of gas at the end of the season. Other than signing Harley, I think the Stars are saving the cap space so Joe can pull a Kane and take off the first half of the year and come back after All-Star break.
From a Nashville fan, we would have loved to keep Lankinen, but he was too expensive. Making 2M against the cap and deserving of a raise, Wedgewood comes in cheaper and is still a strong back-up. With Nashville up against the cap now, ever dollar counts
I know Blues fans are scratching their heads over the Suter signing. Low risk deal and honestly the Blues are in their retool until the young guns are coming in in the next year are two.
I don't expect a playoff spot, though like this year I can see them in the mix for the 2nd WC spot late in the season
Avalanche,,,Francoz
Scout etc
Carrier has been with Nashville for several years now unless there’s another Carrier?
Also missed Nate Schmidt moving on from Winnipeg to Florida.
There is another Carrier
@@cdfmmcc on Nashville?
The only saving grace regarding Brodie is if Richardson can make him a better player. Doubt it, old dog new tricks thing.
The Blues must have signed Suter to make Krug look good.
I don't know if others have pointed this out, but Kevin Hayes is no longer a Blue.
Lots of doom and gloom amongst Avs fans and I dont understand. For one, people act like its gonna be impossible to move nuke and I strongly disagree. Both times were addiction related, hes one of the better 2 way top 6 forwards in the league, is at a reasonable cap hit (if he can get healthy), and teams have traded for players in far far worse circumstances than him. Also, the Drouin contract is downright unfair to the player, the Middelstadt contract was great, and brannstrom is potentially an outstanding pickup (who is still an RFA).
Yes, there is definitely still work to be done but this is the best the team has been this time of year in quite awhile.
Stanley Cups are more often lost than won on day one of free agency.
Dumba playing well, when did you start becoming a comedy CZcamsr 😂 same with suter for that matter
Oh your into sports. Forget about food and gas .. 😮
sure, the Hawks still aren't even close to being any kind of legit threat for a playoff spot, but at this point, thinking it'll be the B-lose who are "bringing up the rear" in the Central
Judging by Helly's performance & comments following the playoffs it don't look good for the Jets these next 8 years. Trending to be a buyout(s) club. After Morrissey, not much to look forward to imo., definitely, come playoff time.
It would be interesting, if Utah trades for Askarov, and gives Nashville some cap space. He is going to be blocked for at least the next two seasons, and his future in Nashville is over, before it started. But Barry Trotz has NEVER heen good at player developement, so they should get something for him, with Saros locked in long term.
TOEWS said he might play 2024 2025 would love if he want back to Chicago be great mentor for Bedard
Dallas was sooooooooooo bad
Dallas is being overrated, Minnesota is being underrated, Nashville made a splash = Colorado is winning the Central❤💪💪
Dallas had to rebuild their entire defensive core and somehow did it worst lol. Big step down compared to last season.
