Almost every photoshop tutorial I come across tells you exactly what to do, but now why you do it. I'll be able to do all the cool effects but it will be purely mechanical without understanding.

Hey, when I got to use the brush tool with white foreground to uncover the clouds (in my case, uncovering an image of people), it didn't work out for me. It softly shows the lighted areas of the photo, but no one can comprehend what's there. Most of the photo has dark colors.
    What am I doing wrong?

Wondering if you can help. I have tried this tutorial many times, following every instruction. (Im using PC) the problem I am having is from minute 7 onwards in the video. Whenever i removed the Mountain Copy layer mask, I only get the sharp outline of the exposure image I dont have the overspill. so when i continue to the part where you remove some of the background to expose the clouds that doesnt work for me. Any suggestions as to what I am doing wrong?

    • @greggerosky3788

On mac you hold command then click on the previously selected layer to deselect it. To click a layer "off" its the eye icon next to the layer.

I had the same exact problem at the 4 min. mark. I went to another tutorial to see if I can find a similar step that explained it differently. Still didn't quite understand but I saw that they said to "create clipping mask". I didn't know what that meant, but looked it up to see how to use it. This is what it said: "Hold down Alt (Option in Mac OS), position the pointer over the line dividing two layers in the Layers panel (the pointer changes to two overlapping circles), and then click." (I have Mac so used Option). Basically, go over on the right where you have your multiple layers. Press and hold option and place the mouse between the layer of your model and the scenery picture and click it. This should cause the scenery picture to fit into the outline of the model automatically, skipping over all of the extra steps and getting you to about 4:31 on this tutorial. It worked for me! I hope that helps.
