    As a current Xterra owner I would love to try this truck out! I live in Texas where trucks are Ford, Dodge or Chevy. But I think that this truck would be able to hold its own. I would love to use this truck for off road traveling. Mostly oil roads across ranches and down the Texas coastline.

      James Franco you call this truck pricey but look at all the other brands they are just as pricy if not more the only reason people call this truck too pricey is because it's made by a foreign country so that's their excuse for either not buying the truck or why they don't like it

    Thank you for the video. I love this truck. I wish all these testers would say how many miles are on the odometer. One tester in another video claimed he had been driving for 3 weeks, but he seemed bias towards rather owning a heavy-duty truck, and did not say how many miles he had driven it. I have watched every video on CZcams, and do not recall anyone saying they drove more than 1,000 miles. I have driven 300 miles everyday for 18 years, and drove about 30,000 miles for 15 years before that. Not bragging, I just want someone to post a video on a longer test.

    I'm not really a truck guy, nor do I have any real use for a truck. However, if my circumstances were to change where a truck made sense, I wouldn't be loyal to any badge regardless of country of origin. Whatever truck best filled my needs for a reasonable price would be the truck for me.

    I feel that this truck will sell better than the outgoing Titan. However, it's sales won't be close to Ford or General Motors.
    This truck has been on my mind since they revealed it last year. I have owned a powerstroke, I have owned 2 Ram Cummins. I used to be a Chevrolet fan. I now drive a VW TDI, and a Jeep Liberty CRD.
    When I first bought my powerstroke, my cousin asked me what I plan to tow with it. My response was anything I want. So, with this Titan XD, what do I plan to do with it? Anything I want.

    I've owned 2 Nissan Titans: '05 LE; '09 LE. Both were very reliable trucks that my family and I put to good use and enjoyed much. Combined, I put 180K miles on those trucks and neither left me on the side of the road once. Fit and finish were good on both and interior held up well to me, my wife, and my 2 young kids. I'd definitely buy another Titan and am looking forward to seeing some pricing and driving impressions on the new gassers.

    For those who say the Titan looks like the F-150 because the front lights are blind because if you look at the Nissan Frontier model can see that Titam fetched the style there, so it seems to me that these comments are ridiculous, or so for someone who doesn´t know Nissan. the only thing that Nissan stole was the Platinum designation, which was excused with so many names that could be found, But if I could I would get it because its 99.99 % US made, has power and seems very well built

    Hi MotoMan! We use Nissan Navara for towing trailers with small agricultural machinery- usually up to 3t, trailer is 1t-we do not have mountains here in Latvia and trailer have brakes, so it is ok. Navara got 270 000km on clock without engine or gear box braking. But we feel we need a bit extra power so diesel V6 or V8 could be good, but only with manual gearbox(in Europe we had choice of Navara with V6 diesel but it was only with automatic gearbox and for some reason they do not produce it any more). Our Navara have 4 cylinder 2,5 diesel- 174 hp, 6 speed manual, it is getting old- 2007, time to change. And it's a shame we can not get Titan truck here in Latvia. For big machines we have MAN truks.
    Sometimes we used Lexus LX to tow that trailer, but Navara do it better. I think it is because of automatic gearbox Lexus have. In Europe 50% still think automatic gearbox is not for towing. So good show, keep doing what you do, and we will keep watching!

    i love my wd21 pathfinder i picked up an old isuzu and its resting in the backyard until i have the money to completely go over it. That truck to some abuse from me it had the 3.0tbi v6 it wasnt fast but it had some tall gearing in the diff and had so many creature comforts for an old truck automatic everything cruise control audio package auto locking hubs 3 way adjusted seats and even the rear seats would recline and had armrests. i drove it around for 5000 miles with so many mechanical problems just from being ill maintained. It had gas mixing with the oil, every gasket leaked, oil hadnt been changed, vacuum leaks everywhere but i still pushed it on the trails and suprisingly it was only turning 2700 rpms going 75 on the highway. I once broke off the side of a horse trail the took a sharp right turn the trail was only about 4 feet wide and not lieing the truck had enough flex to its stock suspension that it didnt harm anything when i stuck the spare tire under it to get it out i mean i had the bumper dug in to the ground and the front left tire 3 feet in the air. Man i love my pathy

    It's funny, how final design could suck with such magnificent prototype. This designer, who told about how he was inspired by things must be so disappointed with his job choice. It's sad, when your creation is being cutted and butchered by some engineers to make it cheaper to build. I know, that this is ordinary thing in car industry, but this one here has nothing in common with concept at all.

      +OddRed Its not the engineers. Its optimizing design for manufacture. That would be the accountants wanting the design easy to produce, store and ship. The engineers build to make it work. The body can work whichever way. To be fair I'd prefer an engineering exercise to a design exercise.

    First off I must say I do like this truck. The power plant is outstanding piece of engineering and the interior is stop on. I am in the market for a new truck and have actually been "making due" with my current truck waiting to see this "Titan XD" hit the market. However, the styling is a bit "dare I mention it " not so rugged. I would say it's wishy-washy and a bit safe! But BUT.. BUTT.. Let me tell you Nissan If you had put into production the Concept Design... Well.. OMG instead of slicing the full size pickup truck pie into three slices... Well you would have cut it into four ! Not sure the washed down version is going to grab them.. Good news However, I am considering this truck on its technical merits and how well it does fit my needs. Thank You motorman!

    Well ive had nothing but Ford's and Hell yea ill leave Ford for Nissan. It actually reminds me of my old 6.0L powerstroke and my current F150 just doesn't cut the occasional heavy hauling i'm faced with but i don't tow enough to justify the 3/4 ton trucks or their price tag and i love diesel power. But i have a very strong feeling my american truck is going to be traded for an american truck with a Japanese name

      +Megan Toms Yes, you're right. But, there is a big difference and the big difference is in the capabilities of the drive trains. You won't be happy towing 12k with a half ton gas engine. And it probably won't last very long either.

    Ok I am a concrete contractor in North Idaho. Chevy guy at heart. Been raised around Fords and Dodges in the 1990's and early 2000's with my dads concrete business. When I got my start in business I went to chevy and those trucks treated me good, They gave me a start in business when money was tight. Now things are a little better and I buy new. Bought a Ram 3500 cummins with a aisin tranny in 2013 for $42,070.00 "Great work horse" then I bought a 2015 chevy 2500 duramax paid $43,500.00 Very comfortable ride. ( Both trucks have air bags in the back.) just not as stout as the Ram. But I believe that with both trucks I got my money's worth for what I was buying. Now the question with the new Titan XD will be about the cost. I think Nissan thinks that there is plenty of money out there and people who are willing to spend $60,000.00 for a new truck. Seem to me they(Nissan) are not offering that complete( Beefy) package Chevy, Ford and Ram are offering for the same pricing. If I was to buy a Nissan titan xd it would be for its size being a little smaller and easier for me to go bidding-permit office and still be able to haul a skidsteer-dump trailer around when needed. But I guess the new Ford 150 and Chevy 1500 gaser can tow about the same load. So, yes Nissan has its hands full trying to sell this new XD. Yes, I will go test drive a XD one day this summer. But I am thinking that is as far as I am willing to take it because of high pricing.

  • @rendellstrangemore3536

    Yes I would give this truck a chance if I could afford one. I live in northern Newfoundland Canada. I would not be doing a lot of towing or hauling but I want a truck that will tow and haul a lot of weight just in case I need it. I would not jump right in now though. I want to see a king cab version and all of the gas powered versions first. Most likely I will not be able to afford any of them either. In any case I would like to see it with dual exhaust and 5 lights on the cab like the HDs have.

    Beautiful truck, and the fact that it has a cummins in it is not something to be overlooked. I see this as a truck for someone who does light towing like boats and such, who doesn't need the towing/hauling capacity of a 3/4 ton pickup like s f250/2500, but wants more power than your typical half-ton. Then again, I would never purchase a vehicle from a manufacturer without the heritage/reputation of an American brand. Sincerely, Proud Powerstroke Owner

    The first part of the video, where you were testing the 40-60mph acceleration was pretty useless. We'd either need a shot of the speedo or the speed called out. I can't tell how the truck pulls by watching catus whiz by.
    I think this truck makes a lot of sense if you need towing power on a budget and you can forego a lot of the options/gadgets. The domestic 3/4 and 1 ton diesels, nicely equipped, sell in upper-50's to +$60k and, generally speaking, have more towing power than most mortals need. They're also really big and aren't as practical to park or daily drive. If the 1/2 ton-sized Titan can be bought for under $50K with most of the towing capacity of the big 3/4 & 1 ton trucks, I could see them stealing some buyers away.
    I'd like to hear what the EPA numbers are. Do they match or beat the 3.5 EcoBoost?

  • @rendellstrangemore3536

    Hey MotoMan back in may you said if we had any suggestions as to what we would like to see on the new Titan we should let you know and you would pass them on to Nissan. It may be just a little bit late in the game to do that now but I would like to see this truck and all future versions of it with 5 lights on the cab like the HDs have. They should also put a fuel door on the passenger side as well as on the drivers side. It would be more convenient if we could fuel up our trucks from either side. Besides it looks odd and unbalanced with a fuel door on one side and the other one blank. They should combine all antennae AM/FM/XM and everything else into one and put it at the rear of the cab. This last one may not even be possible but if it is they should have two gears in the differential. One for great fuel economy and one for max towing. After all most people rarely tow anything with their trucks and they always want to get the best fuel economy.

      +RENDELL STRANGEMORE you have no actual idea of how anything on a vehicle actually works, do you. or what those '5 lights on the cab' are for or what they're called ( Or that you can install LED marker lights yourself on any vehicle with a free afternoon and $100 or less), or how much space the venting/checking/plumbing/ valving for a fill tube takes or costs and of course we never tow..right. I think a lot of the shortcomings in modern trucks are because they listen to people like you...pedal on home now

  • @PersonPrivat
    @PersonPrivat Před 7 lety

    Nissan Titan XD has problems with driveshaft. The problem is caused by a "resonance frequency" that occurs at speeds above 75 mph. Vibrations caused by a condition that occurs in the power train systems at speeds above 75 mph and continued operation causes the transmission and driveshaft components to fracture. The problem is unnoticeable until it causes damages and the truck quits moving while driving. Also, truck can roll away if parked without the parking brake engaged.

    Alright a Cummins V8 in a pickup from factory, RAM Trucks take note! At least it's built in America.
    And remember from physics class kids: High Pressure = Low Flow and Low Pressure = High Flow.

  • @roochiecooch
    @roochiecooch Před 8 lety

    Wouldn't that still be considered a sequential turbo setup. Regardless of whether it's cast as one single part. It is still just two turbo chargers that happen to share a casting. Low pressure for bottom end high pressure for maintaining the power and torque till redline.

    I know exactly where I'd try it out, same place I roll my 09 titan, the oilfield of western Colorado (Not the flatland DJ basin, the inaccessible piecance).. nothing like a daily 40-120 mile round trip commute spanning a 3K' elevation change, roughly half and half on and off road, and yearly temp differences between 110 and -37 to put the test to anything out at that duty. problem is, I don't like diesels in a personal truck I get enough of that in my T-800) and the XD is just the ugliest damn thing on 4 wheels I've seen. Nice vid though, but I have to say being terrified to take that cash off-road? it better do it or it isn't worth it. For me to own a pickup, it has to play as hard as it works. I really liked how you addressed the question of what task would it be put to, and that you referred to it as a tool. the fact that a light truck is a piece of equipment, (I see mine as a power tool) is totally lost in today's fad-driven, indoor fixated society. Ugly or not, your review made me take notice of it, and i'd be interested in trying one.. If I EVER had plans to get rid of my 1st gen Titan.. and that isn't going to happen until me or the truck are dead.

      +1250cc Very good question . . . What you are seeing is Hollywood Movie Magic in action . . . As you can imagine, hanging cameras that far out from a moving vehicle, there is some vibration. We fix that in Post Production with something called 'Warp Stabilization'. For the most part, the image is stable, but in some cases you do see some buffering . . . That is a software effect from Adobe Premiere . . . BTW - VERY good eye!

    @3:30 how is it "fascinating" to have more pull from 40-60 than 50-65?
    A. it's a diesel, these accelerate from 0, not from highway speed
    B. it's a massive silhouette (truck) trying to go through the air. the faster you're traveling, the more air resistance that giant shape experiences
    it is really not at all fascinating, it makes perfect sense.... in fact, the "phenomenon" you just described is probably the same experience in damn near every car, and is not particular to this truck

  • @M1911jln
    @M1911jln Před 8 lety +1

    That truck is almost 7,000 lbs. Way, way overweight. If you are buying a truck that heavy, it should tow more than 12,000. Or, to put it a different way, if you are only towing 12,000 lbs, then a Ford F-150 will handle the job quite well, and will be much lighter with better handling and braking.

    • @andrewgross5197
      @andrewgross5197 Před 8 lety +2

      +M1911jln and cost the same or more, and have less interior room, and only run maybe 3 years with parts interchangeability.. and the braking, no way. what's really funny in a lot of this.. have y'all ever actually towed anything bigger than a canoe? a heavy truck gives you better control and stability on a heavier load. It may make the 'tow rating' go down, but those numbers have more to do with lawyers than truckers. are you all 15 years old? 12K was huge not so long ago. that's all my f-350 is rated for.

  • @rendellstrangemore3536

    ANDREW I actually know all of those things. I don't do very much towing or hauling but I would like to have a capable truck in case I might need it. I have done a fair bit of DIY on my own vehicles but I would rather have these factory installed.
