Whenever I buy suede boots/shoes/sandals etc I always spray the suede with Tarrago protector spray first. It doesn't change the color whatsoever and blocks stains, water etc. Highly recommend!
Thank you for this video. Looking into buying Boston Birkenstocks. How often do you recommend cleaning, waterproofing, and cork sealing the Birkenstocks?
@Nana. I try to be careful when wearing my suede Bostons as they’re stain magnets. I clean then waterproof them as needed. With cork sealing, I do it when the cork seal is not shiny anymore.
@@grahamhere3790 the kiwi spray you were using is what I meant. I got it from Amazon and put 2 coats. I got a suede brush also and just kept brushing over the clogs until it got lighter it looks better
@@euphoria2339did you apply it the same way as he did in the video? the spots may have been from applying unevenly. are you going to continue using it?
@@trina4623 I might have applied it to close to the clogs but I tried to keep a distance as the directions on the bottle said. After getting a suede brush and brushing them every other day, they now look as the first day I bought them thankfully. I had a water drop fall on em and for some reason the stain stayed until i had to use the brush again and it went away. I will not be using it again for sure, it doesn’t seem to work for me
Hello, it looks like your suede stays pretty upright. Mine flops down which makes it harder to slide my foot in. Did you accomplish that through wear over time, or is there something that helps?
Hey Mark thanks for asking! So mine are just like that, sometimes they do tend to flop down as well. It’s just this type of letter is softer and maybe thinner that’s why it wouldn’t maintain its form over time.
Hold the shoes about 10cm above the steam of a boiling kettle .. then dab with soft cloth .. the steam lifts the dirt and cleans suede .. best not to rub them .. then you can use a sharp knife to fluff up the suede . Careful not to let the steam go up your arm.
Same thing when you clean them, which is the suede eraser and brush,l. You have respray it the protector, just be careful next time. Spray it side ways and about 6 inches away from the shoe.
How much is the suede protector supposed to protect? I sprayed mine with 2 layer but if they get wet with a little bit of water, the get really dark for a while just like they did before o sprayed them.
Not a complete protection for sure. You still have to be careful not spilling anything on them. Or else you have to rewatch my video and really learn how to clean em! 😀

Cool! I’ll check it out. Thanks for the tip! 👍

I put suede cleaner same one you used 2 days after buying. Now I have dark spots? What do I do now? Is this normal I’m worried
You mean the eraser? Why did you do that?

Do you have any tips on how to permanently remove water marks/ oil stains on suede?
You could try vinegar or alcohol for oil stains. With water, just do what I did.

What can you do if you already have dark water stains on your leather Birkenstocks? How would I clean that
What kind of leather are they made up of?
How long was the stain on your shoe before you cleaned it?
It depends, I’m more careful when I wear them. Use a fabric protector spray to minimize it.
Thanks for the video, but how do you clean the inside of the cork?
I just clean it with a damp cloth, followed by a light coat of bick4.
I used a protector spray that dripped on the birks- now there’s droplet stains- any recommendations?

Can i ask, what is the thing that you use to clean the stain?
Suede eraser. You can get them cheap at Walmart or Target.
Are your Boston’s narrow sizing or regular/wide?
Hey, thank’s for stopping by. These are regular/wide width clogs.
So no water ?
No water.
No water.
Kiwi is cheap dollar store product, never use that on anything ever
I’ve been using Kiwi products since the 90s with good results.
