    • @jasminevokoun
      @jasminevokoun Před rokem +1

      @@sxrry.8206 Yes! The only difference between the vegan styles and non-vegan, is that the upper and the footbed lining on the vegan styles are always synthetic. The cork will still need to be maintained, no matter which version you choose. Birkenstock sells a care kit which includes a cork sealer, and it's super easy to use. As far as repairing and resoling, that would be a question for your local shoe repair place.

My favorite pieces of footwear I've ever bought. They are like aspirins for your feet. Highly recommend always having a pair in your rotation. Cacth them before you wear into the cork and you'll have a pair for life. My are currently getting refurbished.

    New birks: wear them around the house for a hour or two, like during chores. DO NOT wear them on a walk, or to work. you will regret it. Just wear them for little things, short walks, maybe a grocery store pick up... max. after a few wears you will forget you have them on. tah dah, broken in!

    I have been wearing Birkenstock shoes for over 40 years with two downsides when they are worn out the shoe is flat hurts to walk in (new is like walking on clouds and springs - a soft bouncy shoe with little to no discomfit to feet, legs, and back something no other shoe has done for me) in about 2 years of daily use and the other is I can not wear any other normal shoe because no other normal shoe is as comfortable to wear, and my feet are now too wide I cannot find a shoe as wide as Birkenstock I did look! And Birkenstock has a new sole for the shoe very sweet I love this shoe, I would pay double the price if asked too my feet are that important to me, I see the shoe as cheap to buy!

    I tried several pairs of the Bostons. My first, the Vegan option, felt cheap and uncomfortable. Second came the black oily leather with original footbed. Upper qualiy was nice, but felt a bit more snug due to the thickness of the leather, and the original footbed did not work for me. Lastly ( for now) was the black smooth Almafi leather version, with the soft footbed. Finally...perfection,or as close as I expect to get .No complaints what's so ever. Now I'm considering a pair of the black suede with the soft footbed as my next pair.

      If you love the soft footbed, stalk their site occasionally because they change which shoes have or don't have the soft footbed. I first bought that footbed in Paris shoes which were like a Mary Jane and T strap combined and they were heaven. They don't make that style anymore. My black ones have been resoled three times and are just about really falling apart, after twelve years and a whole lot of mileage. Right now I've got a pair of purple Bostons and some black Kay SL with the soft footbed. It's a no-break-in shoe.

    Very happy to have found your video (I subscribed after the serenade as instructed, but also bc I'm Birk obsessed). So you gave us a bit to do, some questions to answer, and you mention some things that I wanted to say a word about.
    At this point I love the whole Birkenstock experience: I love getting new ones and I know what you mean about the massagey feeling of a new Birk. I have two pairs of Boston clogs, the very same Tobacco ones that you have and the "long hair" suede (as you called them). I wear the Tobacco less in an effort to keep them clean and pristine (they go well with a couple outfits I put together). I wear the brown ones far more often, I've had them over a year and I haven't experienced the floppiness or collapsing near the toe that you described, but they are definitely more pliable than the tobacco pair, which I thought was just bc I wear them less, but time will tell. I don't remember price differences between "shor hair" and "long hair" suede (could easily be wrong, but it looks to me like the difference is the soft footbed vs regular, Habana oiled leather clogs in the soft footbed are $15 more vs the regular footbed, same Habana oiled leather).
    The sock debate! I do both as well, and one of my secret joys is finding out that someone opposes one habit or the other and realizing that I've worn their pet peeve. It makes me a smaller person, I know, but I allow this pettiness in me bc it just doesn't matter. And a good pair of socks can make sandal and clog Birks a cold weather shoe! Also, I'm old so I don't care so much about the impression I make. I'll check out some of your other videos and I assume I'll see you holding the mic, but I liked how you had both hands to do the video, handle the shoes.

      First off love the passion for birks haha, I can’t remember which model of birks flops down but I know some do. And 100% on your sock analysis 😂

    As a woman unless you know that you have a wide foot I would try the medium/narrow. I wear medium/narrow and have a medium width foot. The wide does not work for me at all... too much room for my foot to slide around and the alignment for arch and heel cup doesn't work. Men have wider feet in general so wide works for most of them. I have been wearing Birks for decades and have never found anything more comfortable. Birks work with socks or no socks. It's about the comfort. 😎I've just found your channel and have subscribed. 👍

      @brendajohnson5525 I'm a woman with a definitely wide foot (2E), so the Regular/Wide works perfectly for me. It's hard for me to find shoes that fit my wide feet -- even in men's -- and the Birks fit beautifully. Yay for Regular/Wide Birkenstocks! 😃🥰

      Birkenstock has the widths in millimetres on their sizing chart. If you measure (a ruler with both cm and inches will work, just place your foot on there and use tape or something to mark the exact spot) you’ll know which one to buy. I thought the narrow would be right, but so glad I checked! Definitely needed the reg/wider one! You might find you’ve wider, but lower volume feet (which aren’t as full on the top of too high of an arch).

    I just got the vegan bostons and I wore them all day and my feet hurt pretty bad. Mostly at my arch and I have like somewhat flat feet with small arch. I got the reagular wide btw. they do look good. I’m gonna keep trying to break them in I really hope they work out bc they’re very nice.

      @@filipe-hb4yo so I still have them and wear the somewhat regularly and first of all they are very durable. The olive colored ones get dirty rather fast but they are very durable. They don’t hurt my feet anymore tho, i do feel they they are true to size but id recommend getting half size up on the “vegan” edition if you plan to wear socks with them. Other than that they are pretty decent shoes just wish they didn’t attract so much dirt. P.s they are super easy to clean, just meet like a wet paper towel or something like that 👍

      You definitely want to try them on as I'm a size 9 UK (10US) in everything besides Doc Martens. I've got super wide feet and wear a size 41 in Birks (I'm usually a size 43 in EU)

    The vegan options are less durable. With a synthetic sock liner, it’s less abrasive resistant than suede which means the heel will start wearing out quicker

    Im a 12 in all sneakers: nb, Nike, Jordan. I first got these in a 45 which is a 12-12.5 my heel was out now I ordered a 46 which is a 13-13.5 and I still as my heel is out :(. Wanted to get a 47 but they don’t have in stock and also think that’s too big. Will they break in where my heel won’t be close? It’s in the foot but feel like they’re half inch too small. Or will they break in eventually?
