"You're putting people's lives in danger."
"Yeah, but we're not legally liable, so what's the problem?"
The last story is a textbook case of a "presumed innocent" victim of our judicial system falling between the cracks. How in the F*CK did he spend TWO YEARS in solitary without even being arraigned, much less sentenced? And what kind of lawyer did he have where he didn't immediately see what a horrible miscarriage of justice this was?! Of course, this is all confirmed when his charges are ultimately dismissed. Just unbelievable!
Yes, it looks like his paperwork just kept being shuffled and the bureaucracy never noticed. 2 years to be arraigned is unheard of. It's weird that the lawyer didn't do anything about it, but just shrugged it off. It's almost as if someone had it in for him and messed with his paperwork.
He doesn't have a say where he goes if he's taken into custody, though. Otherwise, everyone could just ask not to be put in a cell.
He didn't get a "speedy and public trial" -- so you have to wonder if the police kept him, just to keep their number of inmates up -- to max out their federal funding.
@@twenty3enigma No one gets a speedy trial unless they plead guilty and just keeps it moving. That's why they're supposed to be arraigned in lieu of the actual trial to get the ball rolling, or so I thought.
And his family didn't do anything? After a couple weeks, they needed to be screaming bloody murder and talking about his mental health issues. Between his family and the lawyer, and maybe his doctor or psychiatrist, it seems like more could've been done. But, I guess we'll never know everything that occurred
Unfortunately, it's usually the tax payer that ends up paying for their actions. It's extremely rare that actual individuals who work for the govt are held accountable.
It makes me want to put them in solitary confinement for a couple of years.
2+ years in jail on a non-fatal DUI is INSANE
In America, you’re supposed to have the right to a speedy trial. Heartbreaking
I don't understand why Steven was even kept in jail while waiting for trial for a DUI. That makes no sense at all. Unless it was his 3rd or 4th or he had other warrants out for his arrest. Also he should have had an arraignment rather quickly after arrested. So much was fucked up about this. Unfortunately things like this happen way more frequently than most people realize.
Major omissions in this story clearly
It's dona ana county. This wasn't their first time. People say it's getting better bc of all the lawsuits but I highly doubt it.
Yeah I only spent 12 hours in jail for my OWI, but again that was my first.
That last story was just utterly upsetting and a huge injustice. I wish the best for his family.
That last story broke my heart. I’ve been in solitary and thank god it was only for around 2 weeks but that alone was absolutely terrible. I’m not against killers and/or rapists, etc being subjected to such methods but shit... 23 hours a day in a 6’x9’ cell - I can’t even imagine 2 years. And Idk what state that was in but it sounds as if he didn’t even get his hour per day out of his cell... Just... ugh... disgusting how humans are treated (and especially in our country that touts itself as the greatest country in the world.)
As horrible as our country can be to horrible people, you should see how honorable people are treated in the rest of the world. In some places you can be killed just for speaking the truth or for showing your face.
I love your reactions, how you genuinely want to learn about different things. You are truly one of my new favorite reactors. You have such a lovely personality and am always eager to hear your questions and commentary. Borehae
I understand your outage at the injustices that were given to this poor man! Makes all of us angry.
Kabir, I think his name is Jonathan B. Allen ....former Navy Seal ...but calls himself Mr. Ballen.👍
I had never heard Mr Ballen before (not sure how?! He's awesome!).. until you reviewed his videos. I really appreciate your content, choices for such, and commentary. Both you and Mr B Allen have a similar calm to listen to; Kabir you're soon to be famous and familiar to hear, keep this up!! 💜
New Mexico violated Steven’s 6th amendment right to an attorney and a speedy trial.
You should do mrBallens story about when he almost got blown up (he was a marine)
Navy SEAL but yes that is a good one
I remember that water intoxication story... Poor woman, trying to win a Wii for her kids 💔
I love your outrage, it happens all the time in the US.
The radio hosts and I believe pretty much everyone at the radio station were fired. So sad for that poor woman's family. I remember it. I live in the Sacramento area and that was the radio station that I listened to at the time.
I would think Steven in the last story, if they knew he had mental disorder, I would think there is a jail hospital they can keep him until trial. When that time come, drive him back into court for his hearing. Why did it take 2 years to get a hearing for this man. Couldn't he be bailed out. I thought the U.S. has a thing called the right for a speedy trial. If he was writing letters to his family, where were they and tried to get him help. I feel so sad for this man that went through that and he already had a mental problem and they were adding to it in the conditions he lived in. The guard who brought his meals, didn't he see the condition he was in or maybe not even eating his food. I thought those in death row, isolation got 1 hour outside time by themselves. Why couldn't a compassionate guard help this man, just by talking and getting him answers to his questions on when his trial was. If a person that does not have funds to hire their own lawyer, one is given to him. Where was his lawyer and checking up on him, or making a fuss that his client cannot go back to the jail. Through Steven's case and even winning a suit against the system (which a lawyer will take half of the 15 Million, I hope they system learned from this experience so it would not happen again to another person jail or not.
Mr.Ballen is the best storyteller on YT, hands down 💯
That last story is just how things are here...
6:47 I may be 14 years old, but I don’t think your stomach should make you look pregnant from drinking water.
It's Ball-en. Ball, like baseball, soccer ball, foot ball, round ball, golf ball whatever kind of ball then add en. Ball-en.
Everything about that one was illegal...
we have a limit on due process and solitary is illegal for that long and in that manner.
Prisons are ran by businesses in America a lot now.. so they do some horrible things to ppl.
Mr Ballen.. Most F'd up interrogation ever!! Kabir, you HAVE to check it out.. it's a good one, trust me
An indigenous man here in canada was left in solitary confinement so long he forgot how to talk
What's up Kabir? Love your reactions bro keep it up!!
I agree with you. The system is broken.
Still here waiting for you and Luka to check out Mr. Ballen, The Giant of Kandahar. Original Human got in his community that he was posting that video today. Haha
Kabir’s reaction was exactly my reaction on the last story 🤬
MrBallen pronunciation = Ball like in a football or tennis ball and en like in pen.
Anyone who wants to move to the US I would tell you to seriously reconsider it. Our judicial system is seriously fucked up. I was put in jail for two months for something I didn't do and there was nothing I could do even with a good lawyer. The US isn't the great country it used to be.
I do love you and your channel! Not in a weird way as you are probably of a age to Be my grandson. But great job. I try not to miss an episode.
Thanks so much Kimberly 🥰
I did a few months in solitary and only got out twice a week for a shower. I was shackled on the way to shower and the shower was a cage.
His name is pronounced Ball(as in football)with en at the end.
Its pronounced...... MR BALL(LIKE A BASKETBALL) IN(AS IN THE HOUSE)
Moral of the Story: Listen to the professionals…don’t know WHY I have to say this
I one thousand percent agree with you about how angry 😠 😡 you are. THERE WAS NO REASON FOR HIM TO BE TREATED THAT WAY!!!!!
Im just furious. Whyyyy? For a dui!?
Ball-en 🏀en 😂
1st Story: Haha. Omg. That is hilarious.
2nd Story: OMG. The hell were they thinking? Idiots
3rd Story: Holy shit. The hell is wrong with the American Justice System? Why would you put someone with mental health problems in solitary, let alone just leave him there for so long???? That poor man.
Mr Ballen did an interview on Dive Talk and said it was pronounced "B. Allen", but his audience ALWAYS said it differently, so he accepts either lol
And he pronounces it
Ball ⚽️ en
Most of his audience does call him ball-in but he is Mr B Allen.
How the hell can something like that even happen!? Not even a bail hearing? That's completely insane!
John B Allen goes by Mr. Ballen - pronounced like in football.
So FUTBOLITOS
I subscribe to MrBallen too and he's riveting 👍
I think it's pronounced Mr. Ball en
It’s B Allen because his name is John B Allen he said it on a podcast
His name is John B Allen but he calls his channel Mr "Ba" like a sheep "lynn" like the ladies name lol
I subscribe to him
Love his content
Most people say MR ballen but it is actually MR B Allen
That's his actual name, yes. But he combines them to be pronounced like Ball-in
Glad he sued... But that treatment let his cancer progress. 🤬🤬
So Awesome 😎😁 that you listen to Me Ballen!!!!!
11:30 Welcome to America, if you want healthcare in prison, you’ll be serving the death sentence at minimum no matter if the state has it legalized or not
Its Mr. B Allen
Mr. Ball-in 👍🏽
The Name is Mister Ball-in
Make sure if you subscribe to MrBallen page it has blue check due to his page being hijack by other people.
His real name is John B. Allen, so if you put the middle initial "B" next to "Allen" I would pronouce it the same as the last name.
That’s obviously not the whole story lol.
Hi kabir, I also watch his program and shake my head and swear. And now for something completely different. You've mentioned wanting a cat, I urge you to subscribe to "PENNY THE TALKING CAT" by Amyie and family. Their short skits will tickle your heart, while cleverly examining the physiology of cats. Mom, dad, daughter, 2 dogs and 2 cats.... like thousands of us, you will happily become addicted.
Dude this is 'merica
Nothing happened to those people in Stevens case
Pronounced: Mr Ball en
And that's why America is the land of the free..... Because the government is free to do whatever they want to you with no ramifications. The more I learn about what goes on and what is going to happen in this country the more I question how are we free? how is this the best country in the world? I just don't see it.
Pronounced like ball, basketball 🏀... Mr. Ball-in
Anyone ever heard the story of the dancing devil in the 1970's San Antonio night club?
I dont know if you read comments buy mrballen is a ex navy seal👍👍
Probably got lung cancer from fungus growth. And his family didn’t advocate for him?? Unfortunately there are plenty of these sort of stories here in the USA.
This is why my home country of America has a terrible justice system and why I basically wish America copied the justice system of Europe.😑😡😤😒
Say: Mister BALL-in. Like Basket "Ball." Welcome to the American Prison Industrial Complex. If you knew how many innocent people are doing hard time, you'd lose your mind. Chris Hedges teaches at Riker's Island Prison and his stories are unbearable.
The Jail/Prison system has to babysit ten of thousands of the worst people in the world. Why people feel sorry for these inmates is beyond me. Just don't be a criminal and you won't need to be in prison.
i agree the more harder and miserable prison life is the more it will make people think before breaking the law Japan has strict prison 90% of people admit there crime to get shorter sentence and in prison assault is extremely rare
It was a non fatal DUI! If he had murdered someone then I would agree with you wholeheartedly.
This treatment would never happen to a woman. This is how society values men....
Right? But you'd never hear feminists admit we have more rights than men. It's gross.
Life is often stranger than fiction! Hey he took my line! Lol if I were the family of Steven , I would sue the heck out of that prison. 2 years for a DUI?? That's unheard of!! It's because the prison system here is very broken!!
Still pretty hot over there, huh?
Unfortunately, if they let Steven out in public, he would’ve killed someone else…
But he didn't kill anyone. It was non fatal DUI. They pulled him over before he could hit anyone
You’d be pretty disgusted if you knew how the us justice system worked. Unfortunately it doesn’t care about rehabilitation not even for low level offenders.
If I was awaiting trial in the UK I wouldn’t be locked in solitary for over a year.
Nope. But if you murdered someone brutally, "life sentence" would likely be 7-10 years. Maybe 20. But most killers end up having some freedom later. Life should mean your entire natural life.
@@GenXfrom75 I mean we disagree with that but 🤷♂️ neither of us are politicians so we’ll never affect any change anyway
