I mean, sure, there are actual white supremacists out there-and try to remember that white people, just like black people or any other people, are not a monolith!-but the fact is, it's difficult and takes effort to step outside of your own reality and circumstances and empathize with and truly try to understand the circumstances of others. Frankly, most people, including most white people, are just bad at it.
Your average white person thinks that the talk of police shooting black people constantly is overblown because THEY'VE had encounters with the police, and the police didn't shoot THEM. They think, "Oh, you just needed to act differently, and then it would've been fine. They wouldn't've shot him if he hadn't been doing X."
It honestly doesn't occur to them that the police would have approached them, FROM THE VERY BEGINNING, completely differently had they been black during their own encounters. And since most people are lazy and don't do research, they generally don't know that there are studies that show how black people are shot 3-4 times as often as white people by police even when you control for response to local crime rates.
They don't experience it personally, and they don't do the research. They live in a bubble wherein it never happens because it doesn't happen to THEM.

Woof. This story brought me back. One day I was driving to work and there was a driver's license checkpoint on the backroads I used to drive into the city, it was being used to train new deputies. I pulled up to checkpoint and handed over my license and also my concealed carry permit as kind of a friendly "Hey, just wanted you to know, I'm armed" kind of a way, because that's what my grandpa told me to do once I got it. The deputy trainee looks at it and looks at me and asks "So you have a gun on you?" and I tried to manage a friendly smile and said "Yes". He backs away like I'd just told him I had a body in the back and draws his gun and actually aims it at me, dude was completely panicked. The Deputy running the checkpoint stopped it pretty quick, apologized, and I went on my way.
Just hit me watching this, that if I was black I would probably be dead.
It's too bad they allowed nervous trainees to have guns! That seems spectacularly unwise. 😢

Let me tell you a quick story.
I attended private catholic schools from 7th grade up. Now my parents couldn't afford to send my siblings and I to these schools. We all got academic and athletic scholarships. So I was a poor black kid growing in around my small Midwestern cities 2%. There were more drugs and kids who broke the law but got off Scott free because of mommy and daddies $ than any public school I had been in or heard off.
I encountered a few, albeit much richer and better educated, white people such as yourself. I just shrugged it off personally but was truly in awe by one constant.
The majority of the friends I had, a few I still have absolutely HATED the poor or rich, bigoted white people like you.
I literally had never even heard the term " WHITE TRASH" ( a label that I am sure you yourself has been tagged with your entire life) until I attended private school.
I mean it was confusing at first but the more my friends explained it to me and I saw how they treated and interacted with people they labeled this, again, Americans like you. The more clear it became. They HATE you. I mean it was a visceral reaction at times. Like people such as yourself were some strain of " Coronavirus " or STD that disgusted them. They would go out of their way to hinder and harass these kids and adults every chance they got so much so that I refused to participate unless I first was attacked or harassed by people like you.
My point is. You have no real allies in this country. My, OUR, country were true Americans live, work, play and worship together. They use you like pawns. Muppets that they do and will just throw away once you have managed to " SLUG" your way through the assigned task they've manipulated you into.
Thats why we see just as many, in some cases more white people in these protests than even people of color. Especially the younger generations who have grown up with close friends and family members of different cultures.

After he made the statement, I said "I just got through dropping off a trailer diesel , I've always figured that shooting around that would be ah bad idea so I leave my guns at home when loading and hauling that stuff" He thought, and said have a good day. =) He was fishing any ways. Age 13 I was hit ranover dragged by van. Suffered permanent brain damage loss of brain tissue neurological complication.
In high school I was attacked beating and jumped by groups of blacks / African Americans.
They didn't care I had disabilities.
A different time i had been jumped by these two black men. They tried to rob me. They ripped my pants.
They didn't care I had disabilities.
At age 21, I was attacked by two black men who put gun to my head. They were trying to kill me.
They cut skin on my head and made me bleed. They beat me down.
They didn't care I had disabilities.
3 years ago in 2017. I was in a relationship with a Somali woman. Her family accepted me and depended on me. But the truth of her is she lied cheated use me controlled me hitting an abusing me.
She didn't care I had disabilities.
In present-day Africans are leaving Africa and going to u.s. because Africans are killing Africans in Africa.
I suppose African Americans don't understand that Africans traded African slaves to Europeans.

I definitely appreciate the message but if I was black I wouldn't follow it you're playing with my life then regardless of what we all believe the truth of the matter is if you're black and armed and have an encounter with the police you are far more likely to not leave that situation. I can't imagine what it would be like to have to encounter law enforcement with that type of mindset so I'm probably not the best person to give my two cents and I understand that if you want your rights respect that you have to flex them. I have an amazing amount of respect and adoration for any black man or woman with the courage to do this and I wish them all the power in the world to stand strong in the face of what's been happening in this country.

I used to think "white privilege" was bull. But then I came to the same realization that you mentioned at the beginning of this video. I can do one thing while having a firearm and go home to sleep in my bed. A black person can do the same exact thing and take a permanent nap. Coming to that realization made me understand the full scope of "white privilege"
I feel like a lot of white people just assume that "privilege" means they had life easy meanwhile they've not had an easy life in some way or another. But the term privilege is something a lot deeper than that for sure. I hope more people come to the understanding that as white folk we can get away with a lot more than any other race in the US. And it's simply not right.

Im a black man and ex law enforcement and gulf war vet.I now live in Arizona where its nothing to see people with side arms I have weapons of my own but 9 times outta 10 i won't carry just because of that's stereo type even though I can I'm afraid to Carry outside or consealed

My question to beau if I had a chance to ask him would be...Beau would u stand up for a rightfully armed black man against a white cop or just a regular white man/woman in a case of his rights being violated? Or will you be on accord with your white privilege? That didn't sound like good advice to me. @@tommyb3361 That’s why Beau mentioned that black gun groups should wear all sorts of different clothes to acclimate law enforcement to the idea that not only one type of black person should be able to exercise their rights. He’s saying that steps needed to be taken to normalize it before they SHOULD act in that way due to the amount of risk involved in acting that way currently. Not that you shouldn’t be able to if the system wasn’t as fucked up as it is. Though I agree that black people should do whatever their rights allow them to, and that if those rights are violated, the one violating should be punished.
In essence, he’s just really telling you guys to be careful because of unfortunate realities but giving strategies on how to slowly change that reality over time ( as frustrating as that might be ).

One thing I noticed when I moved to NYC from Ireland as a young man in the 90's, working in Corporate America, was that if I saw a white guy in the mail room ..... he'd be the manager. Another thing I've noticed - the contribution of African Americans, out of all proportion to their numbers, to the musical culture of America and the world. You guys are INSANELY talented and have given the rest of us so much to enjoy whilst you've had to deal with institutional racism at the same time. My life has been so enriched from listening to African American music - I salute, celebrate and thank your people for your contribution to the culture of the world.

I once was caught showing my pistol to a friend in a parking lot at like 3 am. I was leaning on the roof of my car, clearing the weapon and a police officer came right up behind us. I froze and he said, "well this is awkward..." I put the weapon down, showed him my ID and CCP and everything was cool. He even complimented my piece. After the exchange, my friend and I both said, "that would have gone WAAAYYY different if we'd been black..."
Honestly it was at that moment I truly understood white privilege for the first time because at no point in the entire interaction did I ever fear for my life. It was a little tense because I didn't know how he was going to respond at first, but I knew I wasn't in danger and I know that wouldn't have been the case if I was black.

Racism comes from all sides of race cultures Iwas taught hate from when they were younger and they can't help that they fill some kind of way about other race of people till they get out there and be around other race of people and see for them selves that what they was told was wrong they will never change their pattern about other race of people me and growing up in the south and young I never was told the race is bad and those people this or that I didn't know racism even existed because I had white and black friends till we moved to the and I moved to Philly and I met kids my own age and they where black and from Philly to New York then I saw it other race of people cultures and that was a eye opener and that was cool and when I moved in Newark New Jersey we moved on the Spanish side of the tracks as some would call it I made a lot of friends on that side but we ended up moving on the other side of town is when I learned about it hearing the white man is the devil and ended up going to a mosque that was farrakhan's mosque and all they preached about what's the white man was the devil this and that and I stay in there going with some family members for years and I started thinking like them and when we moved down south I was stuck into that way and the first day I saw blacks males with white woman and it pissed me off and I said something about it and got into a few fights over because I was right in my thinking and never backed down till one day when I was going off on a nother black guy about it the older my talked to me and let's say if he had never talked to me I might be dead or in prison and still living with hate that's all I got to say

Relatively speaking, there are NOT a lot of police brutality happenings. Look into how many people are arrested each year. Compare that to the number of improper acts. It's very minimal. Don't fall for the rioters lies.
We have a system in place to handle these situations. You have to let it work.

As a white man who struggles to explain to certain family members what they're missing when they talk about race relations in the US, I am just so damn grateful to you for this video. These are really complex topics, and while my values are crystal clear, I have nowhere near this ability to clearly break through the B.S. and assumptions to reach those who most need to hear something new. As a black lady, I don’t know what it feels like to be a black man. As a black lady I have had a white man point a gun at my head while I was sitting in my car on the side of the road. His action was a felony, and I should have pressed charges, but I was serving my country overseas as an American diplomat and was on vacation with my family in America, and couldn’t go back and forth for a court case. Please educate your family because what happened to me should never have happened. I could tell that this white man had been fueled by Trump, and he wanted to kill a black person. Luckily, I didn’t pull out my cellphone because he would have killed me. I was humiliated and had to beg for my life while my 82 year old mom watched from the back seat in horror. This incident happened in Hendersonville, NC in 2019 at 7:30am.

Keep both hands on the wheel unless instructed otherwise by the cop. Ask for permission before making any move for your license and registration; move slowly. Inform the officer you have a firearm on your person, with your hands on the wheel.
