Thank you for your video. So from a Huawei 22kw supercharger to a Tesla model y we need a 3 phase 22kw cable? Anything else in terms of spec please?
Hi I bought a simple Type 2 Mennekes plug to Scucko socket for my electric motorcycle which only has a computer power cable socket so 1kW AC needed. When the AC Type 2 stations has socket it fits in and works fine, but there are Type 2 EV charge stations with Type 2 cable instead of socket.
In the cable end my Type 2 plug does not touch the pins, the plastic spacing is too long.
Can I cot a centimeter from the plastic plug end just to fit both socket and cable Type 2 chargers?

22kW. As explained in the video if you get an 11kW cable you will be restricted if you charge at a single phase 7kW charger.

Great video! The differences in the various cables are clearly explained. However, I see a lot of cables on sale on Ebay that say it supports 32A 22kW, but they do not specify the actual speification of the cable used (e.g. 3Gxxx or 5Gxxx). Is this deliberate? Can I trust these cables?
My personal opinion is to buy from a reputable retailer. My view is if you can buy an EV, you can buy a $250 cable. In fact the money you save on fuel will no doubt cover the cost of the cable. Yes, they may all come from the save factory, but what you are paying for is a piece of mind, warranty and after sale support
Good explanation. There may be a slight error, though : at 1:38, you're pointing to a 11kW (16A) 3-phase cable, then the zoom shows 5G6mm², which would be a 22kW (32A) 3-phase cable. A 16A cable would more likely use 2.5mm² wires.

In Australia the car only comes with a trickle charger. Where are you from?

I suppose the thing that’s missing here is what rate the particular car your charging allows you to charge for type 2 charging

Hi. I have a 3-phase 22kw charger at home for my Atto 3. I did this for future proofing when I eventually change my car to one that will charge up to 3-phase 22kw. Is that a wise choice or should I have just stuck with a single phase 7kw charger?
Doesn't hurt to go 22kW and make sense from a future proofing pov

Hi, I bought a BYD Dolphin recently. Would you recommend to buy Type 2 to Type 2 EV Charging 5M Cable|7kW for $199 or Type 2 to Type 2 EV Charging 5M Cable|22kW for $230? EVSE also offer different lengths at 5M, 7M and 10M. What are your thoughts?
5 meter is generally enough. Max charge rate of the Dolphin is 7kW so 7kW cable is perfect!
Regarding cable weight, what was the length of the cables, assume 5M?

Thanks Samual. 7kW charger/cable will give you ~40km of range/hour of charge or 7kW/h. Ioniq 5 with 70kwh battery and 400km of range means it would take ~10h for a full charge.

Hi, can you use a 16A cable at a 32 A charging station?
Yes 16A = 11kW. So if you use a single phase charger (32A, 7kW) you will only get half the speed i.e 3.6kW
I didn’t even know that existed, I have a kona ev old wall box output was 7kwh and now new wall box installed up to 22kw output however I am only getting 3.5kw using same cable, I checked the ev setting nothing can be changed, should I get a 22kw cable instead?
If you have a single phase 32amp cable (7kW), then you should be getting 7kW regardless of a 7kW or 22kW charger. You'll only get 3.5kW if your cable is 11kW(16amps) and your car is single phase. Hope that makes sense
The car is Hyundai kona and I just checked on the cable it says 32amp i saw my collage getting 7kw from the same box so I dm confused
BYD Atto 3 can use the 22kw to charge ?
It can, but it will only draw 7kW because the onboard charger is single phase
