  • The design world is getting bigger day after day; as a result, there are many new technologies launched in the market to help designers and professionals to express their ideas clearly and realistically. To benefit from these technologies, some crafted pieces of software are highly needed where SolidWorks and Fusion 360 come into play. It is true that both of them are famous and used by many professionals.
    However, there are many differences between them. That is what we are going to talk about in this article.

    What's the best option inside Solidworks for someone who wants to practice at home and improve modelling skills? A student licence would be the cheapest?

    Everyone keeps bashing Fusion 360, but in my opinion it is better than Solidworks. It is way more flexible and up to date with modern world. It has modules that you can buy additionally, which makes the cost very low and you won't have to buy something you don't need.
    Fusion 360 is more stable and hard crashes are very rare. It has powerful quick search function and very straightforward hotkeys. I find that I get better performance as well. It also has tools for modelling organic shapes very easily. Overall I would say it is 8 out of 10 and is defiantly worth the effort.

    There's absolutely no compare to those two softwares. Anybody who ever worked on Solidworks knows why its worth 20 times the price of fusion. Fusion is cool if you want to get in touch with 3D modeling. But with a bit of a perfectionism, one will very quickly get annoyed by the limits of the program.

      @Skitad Před rokem +8

      @@afankhan7732 Honestly, I can't get how ppl can prefer Fusion, apart from the price, wich is obviously an enormous argument at this stage. To me, if you master solidworks, working with fusion will take you minor practice time and you can even work witn both. But from a technical point of view, Fusion is litteraly nothing next to Solidworks. The program is just a mastodon, it's level of performance and the deepness of the architecture is just mind blowing compared to any CAD programs I worked with. Fusion is not even doing well with the possibilities it gives. To me it's not finished yet, it feels like a quite early beta version of a program. To add something, what is shown on Fusion 360 on videos they make to advertise, like engines or stuff, no way. Litteraly not any fucking way you will make it with this program. Not that it is technically impossible - one can modelise an engine on sketchup - but there's just no way that this is gonna work, be editable afterwards or usable for any kind of use. The software just becomes totally impossible to use in a proper way faaar earlier than this with much less complex parts.

    There is a reason why Fusion 360 can run in a Web Browser runtime environment and Solidworks needs a proper graphics card to run smoothly!
    They are what they are! Solidworks can be challenged by NX CAD from SIEMENS only!
    But when it comes to beginner-friendly UI… coupled with Prototyping level accuracy and features no one dares to compete with SW! It’s one of the best!!

    Fusion 360 is not remotely close to Solidworks. I have 10 years experience on Solidedge, 20 years on Solidworks, and 5 years on Fusion 360. I am retired and cost has driven me to Fusion 360.
    Making drawings in Fusion 360 sucks. On a 10 point scale where Solidworks is a 10, Fusion 360 might be a 2.
    I can't think of anything Fusion 360 does better than Solidworks.
    The free version is difficult to get. I started with a free subscription, but they denied my free status after two years. I met all their requirements for thr free status. Now I am on the $500 per year subscription.

      you have over 30y with solid and only in your lates, you got 5y with Fusion... Maybe it's just the different mechanics you can't/won't learn anymore... the older you get, and so... I am not defending anything, just making clear, that changes are always kinda bad.... if anything changes in my work, I will be also saying, that the new one is bad, because you have to learn it again and you can't do your routines...
