I'm watching this three years from when you first posted it. I'll say that I was disapointed when you fried the fpv camera (purely because I wanted to see how you reacted to that) but I love that you kept it in because as much as a lot of you tubers would like to project an image of perfecion that's not how situations always pan out. I love the little crawlers, excellent review and comparisons.
It's a great little crawler for when you are indoors during the winter months. I haven't tried it outdoors yet, but one thing I would advise people, buy the metal center drive shaft upgrades! I ran over my kid's blanket, and the front wheel got locked up in it, and the drive shaft twisted off at the joint!
You should make a 1/10 scale trailer to haul your rcs
Kev! FPV is where it's at! I've got a Redcat Racing Everest-10 10th scale Crawler with an fpv camera mounted to a servo. Cut the entire windshield out so it can swing my view around, only a 3ch receiver so I wired the camera servo to the steering servo. I steer left, it looks left. Taken it on some urban exploring and it's so fun. Also yes get a pair of fatshark dominators and a good reciever module. I prefer LaForge. You can also record your fpv with a built in DVR on the fatsharks that records whatever the goggles receive. Or you could find a way to install something like a Runcam split that records 1080 60fps and is also an fpv cam at the same time.

Your video inspired me to get a crawler, although I've gone for the wltoys 12428, as I wanted a bigger model to use, the grass round my area is quite long even when cut, and my wltoys a959 gets stuck in it quite alot ( which I also bought after your recommendation.) Thank you, I enjoy your channel a great deal, long story as to the reason why, for another time. Keep up the excellent work and thank you again, although I dont know if you'll actually have time to read this.

edit: neat that they offer power to an fpv cam. I have a cam. May've been about 12$. I also have Aomway goggles when I thought I wanted to do FPV quads. This could be kinda fun.
Are you familiar with the old Losi 1/24 crawler? If so in your opinion how does it compare? Bummed the Losi is no longer available
Kev the one you are looking for is called Basher RockSta 1/24 4WS Mini Rock Crawler (RTR) (Metal Gears). Most capable real scaled full fun crawler! Torque is plenty speed is optimal for crawling metal gears and the easiest modding for FPV and 8g micro servo fits perfectly in the rollcage so your fpv camera can sit on it and the servo wired into the front steering. I wish I could share with you my build pics.

Have you bust the cvds on that alloy crawler frame yet mate? They bust all the time, need keep the trim down. Just got a 1/24th Carisma coyote to add to my mini rc collection, it's great. Far more realistic than any of the others I have, a lot.

Hi, anyone know if the diff on these is already likely to contain grease, if not how important is it to add greese on such a small model, popping the cover of the diff is not easy as the screws are facing inwards so not easy to get at without dropping axel.

I have the hobby plus cr24 and the cr18 love them both but a little weight in the front tires makes them much better

I have the Devastator with rc4wd tires and I agree, it's super capable but lacking in the scale aspect. I would love to see you compare this new one to the Axial scx24! BTW, you should be able to Wi-Fi the camera to your phone.
The CR 24's are also waterproof. Definitely better than the EXC barrage 24's aswell.
Review on the WPL c24, they are capable little crawlers the kit is alot better then the RTR but no electrics except motor, another great vid though :)

Tip for next camera, you can just use a exacto knife and change the battery connectors on the lead, and the camera is probably good still, they have a protection chip on them, right by the battery leads innput, if you solder that one out and bridge the connectors, it will still turn on *Smd soldering*👍🏼

I have a Rustler 4x4 VXL, and the engine overheats all the time, after like 30 min on Lipo. What can i do? I know there is some engine fans/coolers out there, but are they any good?

Don't blame yourself about the camera, it's the people who designed it that didn't use different sockets for different things.
Look into the run cam cameras and get a 800mw transmitter for the camera. You will have a much better picture and tons of range.

A FTX kanyon is a great choice, but if you are American(guessing from your use of $) then you can't go wrong with a redcat everest 10. Really capable but does not look to scale. The ftx is a scale 'land rover type thing' but not as capable. The remo hobby trucks are very good too, if you want scale and performance.

If you look closely at your right had you can see a small puff of smoke come out. @4:44
FPV, longrange on the ground? you will be disapointed, FPV signals needs line of sight for best signal quality and so on. to much things on the ground blocking and so on. it will work, but not as good on the planes and drones, :) but pls dont stop, you need to try it, just saying it can be difficult :)
