Well you can but LED Light Kit for any Traxxas model! They are really nice proportional Taillights everytime u break taillights light up! And front lights have multiple setting dims bright and day light cycle i believe so.....

A lot of the top-end competition kits don't come with lights or anything else other than the parts to build a rolling chassis for that matter. When I got my TLR 8ight 2.0 Race Roller I had to put my own engine, servos, receiver and receiver battery in it since it didn't come with any of those.
Of course, I wouldn't consider anything from Traxxas to be even remotely competition grade aside from some of their older nitro models (particularly the JATO) and the "platinum" series rollers.

Kevin: so I added 6 new motors 3 different batteries filled the tires with foam changed the transmitter added some new suspensions a new body that I painted myself and added 15 litres of oil to the traxas but it is mostly stock

I think the RGT was the best by far. But I do love a trx4 . But I think the element sendero is an amazing value for money crawler . I love mine , it could do with portal axles for sure. Love your indoor crawler courses I need that kinda space haha
Another great video Kevin. Have you ever tried a ProTek servo? I recently installed the 370TBL in my X-Maxx 8s and I love it. Loads of torque, speed and its water proof.
I would almost argue that being afraid to hurt something like this kind of impacts the 'usefulness' of it. These kinds of things are for having fun with, and if you're worrying more about damaging it than you are about just having fun with it, I don't know if that's really worth it to me.
Maybe itâs not about having fun Iâm not really sure but it kinda like classic car owners that donât wana scratch their paint or go muddy because they enjoy and appreciate the build of the car then you get people like whistlingdiesel

For anyone reading this, IMHO, save yourself money in the long run and get a quality kit, probably axial. Crawlers are THE most modified class of RC and for good reason. When you get your crawler all set up properly it will perform on a level no stock crawler could. Also, it's going to provide endless hours of fun without hardly ever breaking anything. I must have 30+ HOURS on my SCX10 crawler build since I last had a part break. Getting the drivetrain %100 metal was key. If you buy a cheaper brand/model I reckon you might struggle to reach a level of modification which is capable enough and strong enough to be a 'forever' crawler like you can build with the true hobby grade brands.
If you are on a tight budget I recommend starting with a SCX24. For ~$200 you could buy an SCX24, steel beadlocks, and high quality crawler tires. With 'free' mods to the stock shocks (heavy grease, maybe lower ride height via spacers) You would have a fairly capable mini crawler that you will never want to get rid of; and that has the potential to evolve all the way into something competition worthy should you want.

Question. So right now I've got a ECX torment brushless 2wd. I'd love to get a rock crawler as well as my kids are getting older so we can do stuff together. If I'm racing with the short course truck will it be competitive. or is there a different gearing. (assuming same/similar batteries). Please forgive if my questions are ignorant. I've tried to research but haven't found much comparing different RC types.
I love the suspension flexes, even though, there's almost no weight to put It down. That's really nice tiny engineering :)

I wish Venom didn't stop making the Creeper. Full competition 2.2" crawler kit for $130. Doesn't come with any running gear but crawler gear generally tends to be cheap regardless. Manual locking diffs with the option to upgrade to remote lock, full aluminum 4-link front and rear, mounts for a rear-steering upgrade and a solid high-torque transmission. Only downside was that the plastics were kinda cheap and fragile, but only to a point. I had mine fall off a 20 foot cliff on the Looking Glass trail and broke a C-hub, which isn't bad but an Axial AX10 would probably have survived that without a scratch. Only other issue is that the setscrews on the diff lockers like to back out.
Still, apart from weird diamond in the rough vehicles like that, this video really shows how you tend to get what you pay for with RC, at least when comparing like to like. But at the same time the law of diminishing returns applies once you get past a few hundred.

Yup with your own electronics you can turn any toy grade into a fully proportional one.
