    This the best video regarding Subaru window motor replacement especially if the window is stuck in closed position. I used this technique to replace the motor on a 2005 Legacy. Instructions from Subaru apply to the window being in the lowered position to have access to the regulator bolts. One thing to add is to replace the JIS screws with M6 bolts. That makes the assembly much easier. Thank you!

    Thank you for the video. I just changed the motor from my 2006 Forester. The most helpful part was your suggestion to use the selfie camera and jury-rigging the stubby Phillips to remove the screws from the motor.

    Pretty simple replacement on this motor. Dealer has to do full assembly replacement at $310.00 - just the part - that's not going to happen. Your video helped out so much - thanks buddy!

    good job. you are the only person to replace the motor without taking all the screws out of the door. I also purchased a window motor for just $65. from Rock Auto online but I have not put it in yet. I am going to try it this way, thanks

    The key to removing the motor is to use a #3 Phillips screwdriver bit in a stubby ratcheting screwdriver. It’s real easy with the correct tool.

    Thanks for this video, I just replaced my passenger side motor after 2 years driving without. A lot easier than removing the whole assembly and cost less. My note: I removed 2 front bolts to have more room for sliding motor in/out

    Thanks for the information!. I'm not sure if the window motor is dead (2007 Forrester) The drivers window button does not always work, If i fool around with it it will finally work? I wonder if its just the window switck or is the motor going out?

    Hello and thanks for the video. The bolts are extremely tight and I ended up rounding one. How can I remove the motor now ? I don't care about the old motor becUse I'm going to replace it. Can I cut it somehow ?

      I would drill it or some kind of grinder. It's gonna be tight space to do so. Just take you time.

    Este video me fue muy útil y me permitió sacar el motor supuestamente defectuoso sin sacar todo el mecanismo del alzavidrios. Al sacarlo comprobé que el motor funcionaba y que la causa de que se hubiese trabado en el extremo superior de la carrera era porque el engranaje del motor había sobrepasado el último diente y no lograba girar.
    La causa de eso era que el tope superior de carrera (ajustable) se había desplazado. Corregí eso y listo !

    DO NOT DO THIS! Take the complete regulator out. Short cuts are nice but I found out the hard way that they are not always the thing to do. The regulator is under high spring tension and when you take the motor out of the regulator it lets the tension off and spins the regulator. I almost lost my finger in the process as it pinched it in between the regulator arms, luckily the regulator was out on the floor when this happened, had it been still in the door I would have lost my finger as there would have been no way to reach the regulator to release the tension. Initially I thought this was a great time saver and I did try it but the position of the regulator arms prevented me from reaching the screws. The screws were so tight I wouldn't have got them out anyway.

    • @porterslice1906
      @porterslice1906 Před 4 lety +2

      The regulator is only under spring tension in the downard position, as long as the window is up you should be fine.

    How to know it's the motor and not the switch? My driver's window stuck in up position? Just worried to go buy and replace it and then find it still doesn't work?

    • @mustangman5402
      @mustangman5402  Před 4 lety

      If you notice before it was stuck, the window motor was/is slow moving up or down. That's the sign motor in it way out. My passenger motor is currently in that condition and will need to replace soon. Normally the switch is not commonly the issue.

    • @randomfocus1549

      Mine is up and just stopped working one day. When i use the window switch to lower it i can hear the switch engaging also engine idling noise changes. I suspect my motor just stopped working.
