- Everyone’s favorite athlean every man Jesse is back at it, partaking in the revised military combat fitness test to showcase his current level of fitness. Now, nobody every claimed that Jesse was the epitome of fitness. That said, he does have some emerging talents and a well rounded set of physical attributes that make him perform pretty darn well on this test.

It’s time to see where you stack up now. Take each of the following fitness tests and perform them within a two hour period to obtain your score. Jesse, to be fair, was asked to do all of this within 30 minutes for the purpose of speeding along the filming! That’s ok, he can take it. You on the other hand can have more time to more accurately represent the test as it was designed.
The first test is the hex bar deadlift. If you have never performed this version of the deadlift before then you will likely find out two things about it quickly. First, it is a little harder to get used to the balance of the bar simply because it is placing the weight closer to your center of gravity. Secondly, because the bar is closer to your posterior chain muscles and the moment arm is shortened, you should be able to lift slightly more weight here. The max score on this is one’s ability to perform 345 lbs for 3 reps.
Next is the Power Throw. This is performed with a 10 pound medicine ball that must be thrown backwards over the head without coming off the ground. The maximum distance to get a top score on this test is about 15 yards on the throw.
Next is the sprint, drag, carry. Here you will be simulating battlefield activities through the use of a weighted sled (90 lbs total weight), some kettlebells that weigh 40 pounds each, and your own body. The goal is to cross the finish line within one minute and forty seconds to obtain elite status.
Next is the hand release pushups. Now don’t be fooled by these. This exercise is much much harder than a typical hand release pushup. The lifting of the hands from the floor between every rep ensures that you don’t cheat the exercise. Instead, you have to reset the body and use pure muscle without momentum to get yourself off the floor every time. A maximum score can be achieved by performing 70 of these within 2 minutes.
Next is the tuck hang. This is a combination of a hands close pullup with a knee raise. The goal is to touch your knees to your elbows on every rep while pulling our body up towards the bar. If you can perform 20 in two minutes you will have reached elite status on this test.
Finally, the two mile run is a classic standard of conditioning. The best score is achieved by being able to run this distance within twelve minutes and forty-two seconds. Jesse happens to excel here since he has an extensive background of playing lacrosse. Ironically, there are some fitness youtubers that are extremely one dimensional and can likely not even run a mile let alone two and certainly not within any strict time period. Just saying.

60 points are enough for "medium" physical demand units, 70 for "significant" demand, 80 for "heavy" demand. Jeff usually took the "heavy demand" standard as the minimum, you might be surprised how low it goes for the "medium demand" units. Infantry, combat engineers, and pilots are examples for "heavy" physical demands, MP police, mechanics, and firefighters "significant".
Hex-bar deadlift 365 pounds: 100 points. 140/160/180 pounds are the minimum for medium/significant/high demand, 340 max.
Powerthrow: ~9 meters, 73 points. 4.6 m/6.5 m/8.6 m minimum, 13.5 m max.
Sled Push/Running: 1:45, 94 points. 3:35/2:45/2:09 minimum, 1:40 max.
45 release pushups: 85 points. Minimum by class: 10/20/30, 70 max.
20 Leg tucks: 100 points. Minimum by class: 1/3/5, 20 max.
This means Jesse fulfills heavy demand in every category and scored 90 points average.
Woah. How do you know even the score, man? You're a military instructor or what? Thanks for the info tho. It can serves as a parameter for us who interested in taking the same test
@@bushidofreakz Google? Maybe....
You may have already answered this but I'm having a hard time comprehending it, But why is there a 'max'?
@@clayreyson7629 for bragging rights, and competition. The current army test you can score a max of 300 points. But if you score higher than your recommend amount you go on the extended scale. Also say you want to go to schools, like ranger etc they army looks at mainly 2 things. Pt score and GT(don't worry about that). Let's say you and a group of guys are competing for a school slot. Say you score 326/300 on the extended scale and the other guys score below you. Well now you look better then them.
@@clayreyson7629 because there is a limit of how much is relevant for military qualifications. If 340 pound deadlift is the most any service requires, then there is no point to measure above that. Whether someone can deadlift 340 or 600 simply doesn't matter anymore, other qualifications are more important at that level.

That results in the event being terminated with your score at last rep.

This again has made my overall posture bad causing by back to have a bit more curve.
Because of this condition I have been avoiding bars in my training with the exception of the dumbells.
I have mostly trained with cables, doing different types of sit-ups and push-ups, training legs and glutes.

Before training I was 236 lbs, Now I am 196 lbs, and I feel more secure doing the "common" (What you see others do) lifts in the gym.

Army scores on push ups, sit ups and 2 mile run. Marines score on push ups chin ups and 2 mile run. Air Force scores based on how many chairs they can push under the table in the Dining facility.
#FACTS
Lol, so true 😂😂😂😂FYI I was in USAF 25 yrs ago
Actually this is the new Army pt test
R1_Rebe1 marines actually do chin ups or pushups, crunches, and a 3 mile run
And the AF still gets paid the same and has all the same benefits. Sounds like a good deal to me
Remember when jessy was a stick .. congrats bro ! Nice progress
He still is though, just a stronger stick
@@WallabyWinters nah man, he is passed the stick phase. He has created some mass, the roundings are very noticable. Thin? Sure, but not a stick.
I relate to him as a hard gainer, but no doubt his endurance and strength is there all around. Except, aesthetically, his legs could use some increase in mass to visually sell it.
a natural 5'11 guy weighing 155 lbs at such a low body fat is not a stick by any means
Now he’s a Pole!
Iv been serving since 2012 I much prefer the new test but worry about young service members form on deadlift is gonna cause alot of them to go on profile due to lack of experience in the lift, thank you for everything you've carried me through my service with shoulder issues Iv had I avoided getting on profile entirely thanks to your advice about shoulder health and training with injury
John Foreman im so bummed I got out when it was still push up sit up two mile run. This looks fun as hell
Jesse is such a good sport even when Jeff roasts him he always adds positivity to the vids and it’s great to see how far he’s come in he’s fitness
I'm happy Jeff comes out with something different every time, which is so rare in the 'who can lift the heaviest' young generation.
Dummy Candidate if only the young generation had a focus on actually lifting heavy. The kids are aiming too much for the 'look' and 'aesthetic'. I'd argue that progressive overload and strength focused training is more beneficial for health and longevity if you're a natural lifter.
i've never seen grass that green. lookin lush Jeff.
Army PT test video. What makes the Grass grow?
The grass is so afraid of face band pulls it grows green so Jeff wont suspect it has internal rotation
I don't think they've worked out the rules and regulations but im in the army and i can almost guarantee if you sit forward and swing your arms during the push ups like that or let go of the bar during the knee tuck you're done. What you've accomplished at that moment will be your score
We ran it and just treated the rest positions for push-ups as you would on the APFT.
Leg tuck rest was just hanging.
Those hand release pushups are ass kickers
He already had 30 by that point but you're correct. The moment you break form you're done.
Agreed. I hope they let you rest like this though haha
They did quite a bit not-to-standard, but hey what can we expect? They're civilians after all, I don't see them digging into our regs to figure out that the deadlift bar was wrong, can't bang the plates on the ground like that, can't take a break during the pushups and the leg tuck (lol), exercises in the wrong order, minimums scores are wrong, etc.
I'm just glad to see fitness youtubers outside of the Army are excited about our new test, even if they're mucking it up in a lot of ways.
@@heroicspatula dunno if y'all are tracking but the front leaning rest is currently the only authorized rest position for the HRP, flexing and extending get you terminated now. :)
Jesse, 2018: "It's important to wipe your balls." 5:00
Fax lol
So true, you can't go all the way if you don't wipe the sweat from your balls.
The typical perversion of man 🤢
@Bruno Fawks 😷
Fitter than Jesse??
I am fitter than you
Nah just kidding
I am eating chips while watching this.
Most athletes eat tons of food yet they're one of the most fittest people in the world... So I believe intensity in training and discipline are the two main keys to build a fit and strong athlete, then second comes nutrition, etc.
according to jeff no workouts can fix a bad diet
Are You Fitter Than Jeff Ca..Oh Leave It ..Never
why you subscribe to a channel that tells people you are a cringy little fortnite playing tween
Hi Jeff my name is Jeff as well. I’m glad to be back viewing your channel again. I took a hiatus because I was more focused on cycling and wanting to go farther and faster. Now that I want to compete in Cyclocross racing next fall of 2019 I need to get back my upper body strength since I will be climbing, going over barriers and run with my bike. Cyclocross is kind of like a tough mudder with your bike. This off season I will continue to manage my base fitness for cycling indoors and work my core, chest, back and arms. I will also focus on resistance training for cycling. I would really appreciate it if you could do an episode that specializes in resistance training for cyclists. I know you get a tone of comments but I really hope you see this comment. Cheers!
I would love to know Jeff's scores. Hangs for 3 days..
Jeff, could you do a video on how your lawn is so good looking.
Hey at this point I'm just striving to be a Jesse. Mans well rounded
No, he's waaaaay too skinny.
11:40 time for two miles he is in good shape
@@Durka-Durka
Skinny are you comparing him to people who do lots of Steroids?
@@bighands69 No, actually comparing him to the average dude
Jesse looks like a twig about to snap
Good video.Thanks Jeff.
Goddamn this is a great channel. Its honestly toughest on off days, watching jeff and jesse always makes me wanna push even if i pushed too hard already. So much fXckin respect to athlene X. U made me what i am and i cant wait to show it off
We want to see you doing your version, Jeff
BEING FITTER THAN JESSE IS KILLING YOUR GAINS (Here's why)
7:29-7:37
I love how jeff is the one staring at the camera now lol
Like the use of the ACFT good stuff🤙
