It is sad watching Lari lose his dad like this. I know he deserves it but it is a sad situation because for many it is reality. Hopefully his dad will come around.
I am sure Lari's dad will come around. He loves his son very much and is interested in his happiness, but he is just misinformed about homosexuality. once he gets his facts right, I am sure he will be a supporting dad to Lari. Anyway, it took Lari himself a very long time to accept his sexuality, it's not fair to ask his dad to accept it right away.
I am actually as upset with Illias as Lari's father. I had many problems with my family disowning me when I came out. There were people who told me all the time that I should forgive them and that they could never lose a relationship with their parents. That is the whole point. Their families accepted them, at least later, without disowning them. It hurt me and made me pissed that they were judging me by their situation.
Lari, if your dad wants you to take up homo-aversion as a new hobby, and then asks what he said or did wrong, you really need to spell it out for him. He's clueless. He needs to hear from you that orientation is not a choice, not some unfortunate, re-trainable condition, it's who you are, and there's nothing wrong with it. He either accepts who you are or loses you. Don't just walk away. Try to *educate* him. Then walk away, and later try again. Education can be his new hobby!
