I hate being the guy who knows this, but that's not how the bible goes. Jesus kisses Judas on the cheek to say he's gonna betray him. The feet washing happens before, with a different disciple who doesn't betray Jesus.
All the same, that's probably the point of the scene anyway, it's just that kissing would have made for a more awkward scene than drying his feet after the rain.

That scene in the rain was probably one of the best moments of the show in a really sad way.
L asked Light a simple question. A weird, childish question.
"From the moment you were born has there ever been a moment were you have told the truth?".
The first time i saw the show I thought L somehow knew himself already defeated and wanted to just provoke Light, but then, if you think about how Light answers, it really takes on a horrible meaning.
Light does not ask further questions, he doesn't ask what L is talking about or what does it have to do with. Instead he argues that EVERYONE lies, and that the fact that he does doesn't make him evil or a bad person. But that's just it.
Any other normal person would ask what they've lied about, or when, and worried about it. But not only does Light know exactly what L is talking about, his own self-aggrandizing, narcissistic nature compels him to get offended because the fact that he does what he does (lying and cheating to keep murdering) doesn't mean he's a bad person. Far from it. He's the God of the new word.
He knows he's suspected of killing hundreds of innocent people, and then wonders what does lying have to do with it.
And L knows that that's exactly what Kira is like. Someone who is easily provoked into excusing their own misdeeds and believes most of all in their own righteousness. With just one question L found Light's mind to be identical to Kira's.
His hunch is confirmed. But it's too late, and there is no actual evidence.
And then he dies, having solved his mystery.

If Rem killed the guy who wrote the name after 13 days, she would almost certainly be extending Misa's lifespan by making her seem innocent. Rem would still die as a result of this, but she would be dying while leaving L behind. Rem realized that L was obsessed with pinning Light and Misa, and that he would never stop no matter what she did. The only way for Rem to guarantee Misa's long-term safety was to take L down permanently, and kill herself in the process.
Also there's three notebooks in play now, not two. There's Misa's notebook, which she has on her, Light's Notebook, which is in the possession of the Task Force, and now Rem's personal notebook, which Light just picked up.
Anywho, I'm curious what they'll do with the next episode, since it's kinda recap-y, but not completely. I can't really recall how much of it is actually original footage aside from some bits at the end and beginning.

    • @aibartulepkaliyev2423
      @aibartulepkaliyev2423 Před 6 lety +13

I think it’s Misa’s original notebook in possession of Task force since Rem was following it and If it was Light’s it would put him in risk since there are names that Light wrote early in the series like Rey Penber or his GF. And there was only one piece torn whereas Light was constantly ripping his death note

    • @Arkayjiya
      @Arkayjiya Před 6 lety +3

"If Rem killed the guy who wrote the name after 13 days, she would almost certainly be extending Misa's lifespan by making her seem innocent"
It's clearly established that lifetime numbers are somehow determined by the natural order and that the death note is completely outside of that order. Basically they avoid the famous paradox of how prediction of the future affect the future by saying the prediction is only true until the tool to affect the future (the death note) is used.
So any lifespan determined by the use of the death note (lengthening or shortening) should only be updated AFTER said use of the death note. Meaning that currently, Misa's lifespan is her original natural remaining lifespan (divided by around 4 because she got the eyes twice). Considering Rem makes no particular remark let's assume she still has around 15 years to live. As long as the inmate doesn't use the death note, she will still have 15 years to live and killing that inmate will not lengthen her lifespan.
But as soon as they do the test of having the guy writing a name in the death note, Misa's lifespan should immediately be shortened to a few weeks as she's about to be condemned and executed.
What that all mean is that as you say Rem could not kill the guy after 13 days as that would still kill her and leave everything in a worse situation. She could however kill him before he can write anything in the death note (like killing all the death row inmates in the country at once or something like that to fuzzy her motivations a little bit) without causing Misa's current lifespan to change. So that's a possible (albeit pretty short term) solution to this conundrum that doesn't require her to kill herself.
And if the time she bought isn't enough, she can always kill L and herself at that point.

YOU SHALL NOT PASS!!!!! The one problem with that is that in the entire context of the anime until this moment. L and Light were both main characters. Both had overarching plots, were featured in every episode, we could hear both of their own thoughts, were, in context, shown to be the equivalents to each other.
I don’t think that evil can’t be a protagonist, but they can’t both be protagonists if they oppose each other.

This is so fuckin old but why not, it just bugs me. I reckon light more fits the psycopath description rather than sociopath. Sociopaths tend to be more impulsive, rage prone, and actually have the ability to form limited empathy and real intimate connection with others (though really only to like 1 person or 1 group). It could be argued that light has empathy and care for his family, but i wouldnt have a doubt in my mind that he would throw em under the bus if need be. A psycopath is more calculated, educated (usually), and is pretty much devoid and incapable of empathy/care for others. Psycopaths tend to be inherent and genetic (though the traits can also manifest from environmental shite) and sociopaths tend to be formed from their environment (though of course their is also genetic factors that come into play, i actually know a dude who doesnt hide the fact that he is a clinical sociopath, due to thin gray matter in his ol dome piece, he is a functional person, and obeys social standards and expectations due to intense behavioural therapy from a young age). We see that light without the memories of the death note is an incredibly moral character, and capable of empathy and care, which supports the idea that he becomes "evil" due to environmental factors (the death note), and that he becomes sociopathic not psycopathic, but I just dont really think he fits the bill for one. I would chock it up to anime shite, and say he is still more of a psycopath. Then again, these things are very complicated, sociopaths TEND to be more rage prone, impuslive, uneducated and careless (tending to leave clues of crimes), however of course that isnt the case every time. The sociopath i know is a rather intelligent dude, and will offer kind words and help if you ask it, if you tell him a sad story, (though he will be a bit distant and awkward about it, it all being learned empathy; him more less reasoning in his head "a bad thing has occurred, you feel bad when a bad thing has occurred, when you know others feel bad you offer kind words, therefore i will offer kind words because a bad thing has occurreed, they feel bad because of it, and thats what you do when this happens." Not real empathy, as in actually feeling bad then offering kind words because you know if you were in that situation, you know it would feel bad for you, thus relating to them, and simulating within yourself their emotions), due to the intense behavioural therapy he underwent to condition him to know the ways of being human and what is expected of him. It could be that Light is a sociopath and has underwent the same sort of thing. Perhaps not necessarily behavioural therapy, but he has been stated by Ryuuk as having a strong will, maybe he simply has forced himself to adhere to societies expectations when utilizing the death note. Idk. Also, another trait of a psycopath not seen in sociopaths is assertiveness. Psycopaths generally have functioning assertiveness, the ability to, for example, maintain and not back down from their point in an argument or debate. Sociopaths generally have a lesser degree of assertiveness, while they are likely to still maintain their opinions in a debate or argument, they are less likely to continue to bring them up, and less likely to continuously challenge the opposition in the name of their opinion. Light is seen being rather assertive, denoting psycopathic traits. The traits of his behaviour say psycopath, the way in which he only becomes "evil" through the use of the death note say sociopath. On top of that, the traits of such conditions, and for that matter every condition under the sun, is highly malleable, able to present themselves differently within each person. Anyway i think thatll conclude my ramblings.

I enjoyed the 2015 live action drama because there he had some problems before becoming Kira, and throughout the series he still became too crazy, but he always believed to be doing the right thing for the world, instead of just becoming drunk of power. But after finishing it like a few months later, it's actually only a little "less good" than the first 25 episodes. I'd give the first part 10/10, while the second part would be a 9/10. You need to augment your focus a little bit; the series had a huge investment and focus on Light and L's relationship, but now it's primarily how Light is putting his true plan into action, unabated, and how it slowly changes him by the end of the series.

I never saw it as L knowing he was gonna die. I always thought L felt off and lost, almost like he felt like he lost control in a world he felt in complete control of. The introduction of shinigami, the fact that Light isn’t Kira (as a more probable thought at least), and these supernatural forces and powers of killing probably tilted his viewpoint upside down and inside out. That’s why I think the flashback was important since it was a time where he felt scared and out of control.
    Just my thoughts though.

I'm surprised most people who dropped it were L fans, since you'd think they would be more committed to seeing Light finally beaten. L's death is actually a horrible place to stop because there's a little fake coda in it that briefly describes the remainder of the investigative crew Light kills off and talks about his new reign, and it just gives the feel of a brutal downer ending lol if you chose to stop there. Anyway yeah I agree, I liked the remainder of the show more than most, Near and Mello really weren't a problem for me and that finale was just excellent. It was all worth it. L's my man, but Light's the one I started this journey with. If people really stopped where they claim they did, I get the feeling they were just never that interested in the show and prefer to blame L's fate.

I hated when L was killed off, but I feel his death drove the plot even more, (my opinion.) After Light kills L, he becomes cocky and that’s where he made mistakes and underestimated Nears abilities. He tried to play the same games with Near as he did with L. But I also feel, that L was at peace, not only because he accepted his fate and was never afraid to die, but because he knew this time he was right about Light all along, and knew he would get cocky and eventually caught, L’s death, would be Lights downfall.

I finished it because I can never seem to leave a series unfinished. Don’t get me wrong, I was upset when L died, but there were certain aspects of the plot that kept me interested. Most of the scenes with the task force after L’s death were pretty boring to me, but I enjoyed seeing how Near and Mellow would end up catching Kira. I know a lot of people hate this, but I liked how quickly Near assumes Light was Kira. He picked up on how Light seemed a little more arrogant, and found ways to trip up his ego. (In shows and movies, it can be interesting to see how an arrogant person acts once their ego is gone. I haven’t seen any examples of it irl, but it might be intriguing too)

The most important part of this episode is that L KNOWS Light is Kira. Immediately after they obtain the notebook, Light's personality changes. It's not super obvious, but it's clear, especially to someone like L. Not to mention, taking into account the Death Note, if you place Light as Kira, and Misa as the second Kira, everything makes the most sense. The ONLY issue is the 13 day rule. Assuming it's true ,they obviously can't be the Kira's from before. That's why he was so adamant about testing it, and so adamant when the others argued that it wouldn't be right. L would've been able to solve everything by writing a single name in the notebook. What's worse, L also knows he's on borrowed time. The main counter he had against Light!Kira before is that he constantly made it clear that if L died at certain points, all suspicion would shift to Light. But since light has been "cleared" that defense doesn't work, so Kira has no reason to keep him around.

The foot massaging scene actually does have a meaning for it. It's not part of the plot, but as you've noticed there's a lot of Christian imagery in this anime. L cleaning Light's feet is suppose to symbolize how Jesus cleaned Judas' feet the day before Judas betrayed him.

And letting himself be sacrificed, wich CAN also be true, if L was actually planning something about his death... And I believe he did. But now he's gone, I have to wonder... What will Light do now, without that thrill of the chase he and L used to have? Constantly challenging each other, in that weird mind intimacy they shared. @Momo Yaoyorozu No, they were important to him but the book was more important because he thought that he's going to fix the world. So it's more important than his family's life and even his own life

It's so sad that L was staring directly at Light knowing he was right all along! :'(

Their reaction to episode 26 has half as many views, and I'm convinced it's because nobody can continue after watching L die.

I feel like the fandom seems to forget that though light is a complex character with a lot of depth that I can sympathize with, he’s still a psychopath. he’s not only committed mass genocide, but manipulated everyone in his life for about 6 years. if I remember correctly, he’s killed up to 125,000 people. I honestly liked the end of the series. though I liked light, I’m not mad that he lost. he became what he was originally fighting against. the main reason I was okay with light dying was because it gave us a chance to see a whole other side of matsuda. at the start of the show he seemed like a naive guy who just graduated college. by the end we got to see him break and have his moment. it broke my heart seeing him like that, but it was important for his character. that’s my main reason for enjoying the end.

Don't forget Light wanted to get rid of Rem almost as much as L. This was the only way he could have gotten rid of both simultaneously. If he had killed L in 13 days then that would have cleared Missa of suspicion and it would have been much more difficult to deal with Rem and Missa afterwords.
