I am curious if the Fleming 55 can safely spend extended time in the upper Great Loop navigating the canals (Erie, Rideau, and Trent Severn) as well as Georgian Bay. The Fleming 55's 5' draft seems to be pushing the envelope. I have even read that the lock handlers require you to sign a waiver if you have a 5' or greater draft. In our perfect view, the Fleming 55 would be a wonderful boat to enjoy the Canada and NY State region of the Great Loop. However, peace of mind and boat safety take precedence. I am also not quite sure if the newest Fleming 55 has a hinged mast to lower its Air Draft if, in fact, this is necessary to pass under the 15'6" fixed bridge on the Erie Canal. MANY THANKS!
