- After a fantastic trip to Cornwall, I've returned to Epsom today to review some of my favourite foods. Tapas! I lived in Spain for a few years and had the opportunity to sample some of the best Spanish food so I'm hoping El Rincon restaurant matches up.

My jaw's just dropped. I live, about, 1 mile up the road from Tattenham Corner & passed that restaurant dozens of times, always ignoring it (well it IS Tattenham Corner...). I've a Spanish mate who's lived in Epsom for, about, ten years & he's never even heard of the place! Gary I owe you one, for pointing this out. Finally, my 60th is sorted. Did you know you're providing a public service? You should be getting a government grant!

This restaurant sounds like a very good example of what happens when you get the basics right. It's been there 30 years because of simple things like using quality ingredients such as fresh prawns. I'd much rather eat at a local family restaurant than a chain owned by a celebrity chef.

It makes a fantastic difference to any meal when the environment you sit in is as brilliant as this is. Kitchen aroma is always a good judge of the quality of food produced. Being so relaxed when dining is an absolute must. What a great advert for both Gary and Spanish cuisine. 👏👏👏👏
Totally agree. As a resident here in España for 24 years, I just love how simple but delicious their food is. Always, but always, tastes of real home cooking😊

What sets Gary apart is the diversity of foods he tries. He moves around the country and smiles his way through his vids❤️
I think most would argue he doesn't move around the country nearly enough. He probably is the best reviewer but he needs to spread his wings a bit further afield.
Obviously Gary will get there though as you only need to see the strides he has made in such a short space of time.

I do try my best but it's costly and also hard me to find time to move around the country. I have been to York, Birmingham, Leeds, Manchester, Whitby, Wolverhamption amongst other places but I do have big plans coming up for travelling

Born in Epsom but left it when I left my nappies. Returned numerous times during the 60s and 70s to visit my grandparents who lived at Tattenham Corner.
Regularly walked up to the shops with them so it was nice see the old neighbourhood, not having been there for over 10 years. Thanks Gary.
Remember going to see the green grocer, butcher and the fishmonger.
I hope this brought back some wonderful memories
So good to see this review , a family owned restaurant of thirty years making such quality dishes no wonder they have a regular clientele. That was delightful chocolate plate and nicely sized wow!

I used to work in a Tapas restaurant. Always advised customers to order bread to soak up the sauces and juices.

I lived and worked in Spain from 1986 to 1992 - two great authentic tapas places in London are the Opera Tavern at Covent Garden and Salt Yard at Goodge Street 👍

Hi, Ryan-so3un. I'm also an alcoholic but a 'recovering' one i.e I only drink 28 units a week as opposed to my previous 220+! Hang in there, mate. Don't think about the pint at the end of the tunnel, think about the light 😂! It's not easy, but it's do-able; if I can do it, any bugger can.

Ah yes, gotta love tapas! Interestingly, the town where I usually stay/visit in Malaga is called Rincon De La Victoria. Will add El Rincon to my mental list of restaurants to try out. Gracias Senor Gary! 😀😀

Buenas tardes Gario. Been meaning to go to El Rincón for ages, going to have to now. The thing with Spanish is that a lot of the dishes are not too pleasing to the eye. But as you kept pointing out, the flavours are amazing and that’s what really matters. As a full blooded Spaniard. I approve of this video 😂. Congratulations on passing the 80k subscribers 👏🏼 👏🏼

I too love olives, and yours looked plump and delicious. Food looked fantastic, what a nice place. Oh my goodness the chorus looked wonderful, and when you bit into them the crisp was stupendous, and I was drooling. Great show again Gary.

Another great video Gary. We were in Spain some years ago and stopped in a little village for lunch. We sat down and it was clear the place was a favourite with the locals. The waitor could see we were struggling with the menu. He suddenly took me by the arm and marched me into the kitchen where the chef got me to try everything on offer. What a wonderful lunch we had for next to no money!

That place had a sense of conviviality about it. I'd imagine if you were in the evening and not filming ofc then ppl at different tables would end up chatting to each other and it wouldn't feel weird. It takes a lot of effort to make a place like that not just the high quality food. You can have a high end restaurant that just feels sterile no matter how good the food. I like these reviews of smaller places . Your channel seems to do very well on the views given how many subscribers you have 👍
I think it is his very honest and informative reviews. He gives so much detail about textures, tastes and ingredients. He would give some professional restaurant critics a run for their money. He obviously has a wide knowledge of most foods and cuisines but still willing to try ones he hasn't tried before. I've watched other food review videos and many of them are just simply watching someone shovelling food into their gob and saying things like 'beautiful' or 'lovely' but no detail whatsoever.

Such a pleasure to go somewhere new with a fresh review from Gary (with technical support and secondary-eating duties from the Cameraman).
I didn't expect to love Spanish food when I went there, but it was a revelation. So much of it is quite simple - few ingredients, seemingly basic preps - but with the care they take and the ingredient quality, it can be the most amazing cuisine. I'd have been happy to never leave. Just the bread that you get in Spain! People get all frothy about French bread, which can indeed be excellent, but Spanish bread can be just as good. I'd have needed a whole loaf for that shrimp sauce!
