    Peace lilly is great for beginners. It communicates very well when it needs water. Mine serves as a lifeguard for all the other plants. When it starts looking sad, it is time to water them all.

    Oh, I guess I’m the loving concern parent always checking daily all my over 200+ plants. Some I fuss over more touching even kissing and hugging and I’m always singing and talking to them. Others that likes to be left alone well still have to at lest put up with my singing. I will at least look over them and I may sometimes force a kiss on them like my hoyas. Lol! Honestly ever since I started hugging, kissing talking playing gentle music, my plants have been truly thriving. I didn’t think it was true, but it sure is.

  • @desplantespartoutplease9351

    Christian, your collection has grown so much within the past year it's amazing! You went from more fairly common houseplants to anthuriums and rare philodendrons! You've gained alot of experience in little time, and it shows!

    BTW, I'm attentive to my plants, but I discipline myself to give them care according to their needs. Sometimes it's hard because I want to interact more--which is why I think it is tempting to continue to collect plants--and I worry a little about whether I'm doing all the right things, but they are doing well, growing now. Even if they don't need anything, they are always there to look at, so that's a consolation, and I really enjoy propagation. You asked! LOL

    • @CrazyPlantGuy

    I've found that my ficus elastica, dieffenbachia, pothos, sanseveria and monstera deliciosa require very little attention. Plus, I have a bunch of lucky bamboo in a vase that pretty much takes care of itself 😂

    I had an African Violet on my desk in my office. It was perfectly fine; didn't bloom much but looked healthy. I chalked it up to office light, or lack there of. It was pretty. One day a new hire came through and when he stopped in front of my desk he reached out and rubbed one of the leaves between his thumb and forefinger. They're soft and velvety. Well, I'm pretty sure I taught the guy a new language. It became a thing; frustrated me to no end. You know, that silly little thing started to bloom - bloomed it's little heart out. He said "Everything needs a little love". I still had my doubts, but when he moved on to a job in another state, in reverted back to it's normal (apparently) bored state. I started to pay more attention to it and it did much better. In my previous plant mommy life, I had always talked to my plants. I told them "You can be replaced, you know!". I'm sure it was great for morale.

    You are a joy to watch, as usual. I love low maintenance, especially when you have too many plants. Yeah I look after them, but it's tiring. My pick is called caliphruria subedentata (green supreme). Find it as easy as the ZZ and low light too. I once killed a snake plant (hahnii). It was in a windowless office and got all wrinkly and leaves started falling off. Fortunately it had a pup, so it lives on.

    Plants are a lot like people, aren't they? Some are very sensitive and needy of attention and care, and some are able to stand some neglect without suffering much. As you are pointing out, it is important to get the right type of plant for your personality and style of care. Some plants will feel smothered by too much attention, but others need it to thrive. "There's always a 'plant' perfect for you." This is a very hopeful video. Thank you again. 💖

    Love this episode and your choices. I am a 'don't ask me to water more than once a week at most' kind of plant owner. So plants I own are many you mentioned. (I live in 1 bedroom city apt so only have southern windows and 2 small east ones). Ponytail palm, aloe, snake plant, birdnest sansevaria, jade plant, pepermonia obtusifolia (variegated and solid green), scindactus pictus Argyraeus and exotica, variety of spider plants and pothos, syngonium, pilea peperomioides ( took me a few times to find right place for it to be happy (8 ft. From south window seems to be winning position), asparagus fern (sits on toilet). Only plant i still have that struggled suddenly after a happy 2 years is the chinese evergreen. It suddenly got leggy and branches starting snapping off everytime I picked up pot to water. I still have the poor now ugly thing because I trimmed down those remaining sad bare stems to 3 inches and now not only are all of those sprouting 2 new branches but 3 new sprouts have popped out of the ground. So maybe its second life will be happier.
    Thank you for all your videos. I learn a lot from you.

    I think heartleaf philodendrons or scindapsus are really easy and can be neglected as long as you water them when its dry. Expecially if your unsure of your lighting situation or just want a plant in a particular spot. They have quite a few different varieties and some can be really beautiful. I have almost every type, which is pretty much the only type of plants I own because they are easy. Seeing new growth all the time is really nice too as they constantly are popping out new leaves. High reward low maintenance. My fav kind of plants! Hoyas are freaking hard i think. I think its the soil they like...its hard to tell if it needs water or not. I have only had 1 that lived past a year :) its the regular Austrelis. Its still doing good and I hardly ever even look at it or water it lol. The only thing I do is add more bamboo sticks for the new vines. It loves those darn bamboo sticks. Wraps itself around them without any help and grows like a weed. Kinda looks like one too haha

    1 surviving poinsettia, a moses in a boat that I took 2 cuttings from, 4 pineapple tops that are in various stages of growth,

    a few more low maintenance plants in my opinion are the Dracaena marginata, Pachira Aquatica, Schefflera, Ficus Benjamina, Kalanchoe (and of course some have those beautiful flowers), and some people may be surprised that orchids are pretty easy and low maintenance. I say I like low maintenance, but I have all the above in terms of maintenance. Some I know I don’t have to check on for weeks or [months (cacti and some orchids)] and others I check every day to every few days.

    I agree with your list. These are really forgiving plants.
    Since you ask, I am more of a overbearing type of plant parent. If I could I would be buried in my plants all day everyday watering, touching, cleaning etc... which would not do them any good.
    Question
    Is you Elechomes humidifier a low maintenance one? I mean how often do you have to change your filter and is Canada’s tap water suitable for it? Since we are supposed to have very soft water
    Amazon did not have that kind of information.
    Thank you in advance

    • @CrazyPlantGuy
      @CrazyPlantGuy  Před 4 lety

      My humidifier seems simple to take a part and clean. There’s an extra filter you can get that you put in the tank, I don’t use one since I put filtered and soon to be distilled water. I would say Canadian tap water is pretty soft.

    I think Adeniums are cool low maintenance plants. It's true that they need bright light and summer warmth to come out of dormancy, but, you know, it's a plant that can be left without any water for 5 months at least and then, in the summer, when it produces its leaves, you can allow the soil to go bone dry before you water again. In addition to that, you fertilize your plant every two waterings, you remove dead branches or rotten parts (if that ever happens to you), and I think that's pretty much it in terms of care.

I love the plant you have on you shelf, it has spots. Anyway, I got a plagoenemia(smthin like that) for my birthday last year, still alive!! Yay! But my leaves are pointing up and one of the leaves, it looks like it's drying up which is scaring me because that's the second one. I feel like it's dieing slowly.

    Dear Crazy Plant Guy,
    My mom passed away 3 years ago. She loved plants. My brother and I each took a cutting from one of my mom’s favourtie plants (pothos) . I’ve had my mom’s plant for 3 years now and I think I recently overwatered it. All the leaves began to turn yellow and then brown....I watched a video that you did on propogating pothos.....I really hope it isn’t too late. I cut the plant and put it in water...almost all the leaves completely turned brown and dried up. I noticed that where the nodules were, it was still green. Can my plant still be saved? I took the dead leaves off and put the tiny pieces in water. Is there a chance my plant will survive? I also cut the vine into a few pieces and put them into water as well. Any advice you give would be greatly appreciated. I think I’d really feel a deep sense of sadness if my plant doesn’t make it. It’s just my way of keeping my mom close. I really enjoy your channel and hope you continue making fantastic videos. Please advise....Sad in Toronto!

    • @CrazyPlantGuy
      @CrazyPlantGuy  Před 4 lety

      Sorry to hear that. Just make sure you have the nodes and price of the vine with a leaf in water, placed in an area that gets bright light and warm. Just follow the propagation video and your cuttings should show roots. Make sure that water is topped so the node is always submerge one water. Good luck.

    Question about the whale fin plants! I recently got one in the mail but it came looking folded in half hot dog style, do they normally fold like that or is it a watering issue? I noticed with my other one that after being watered it seemed to flatten out more. (Love the video btw, I’ve been trying to find a zz plant😁)

    • @CrazyPlantGuy
      @CrazyPlantGuy  Před 4 lety +1

      They normally should flatten, when they first grow they’re more closed in like a circle and as they grow they flatten. Just water it like your normally would water your snake plants and it should grow itself to be more flat.
