Your grin as you were going through the super distorted tones (towards the end, during the solo demo section of the vid) was an exact mirror of mine... I don't know that it's an "everyday food," but playing around with loads of distortion sure is a ton of fun!

I feel like you could get some really nice 90's style-sounding riffs from bands like Helmet or Soundgarden with this pedal. And some underground stuff like Acid Bath if you wanted to go even heavier

Those harmonics popping out with articulation has a early sounding VH vibe also amazing for a pedal !

It’s very difficult to assess gear in Pete’s demos. He’s the Macgiver of music and could make a toenail and dental floss sound amazing
This is why I constantly get different gear. I can never replicate anybody's great tones.

I think pedals with that much functionality and options should have a stored preset button kind of like strymons, because in studios you can tweek away but live your stuck with one sound within a song!
Think of it more like an amplifier’s controls and then maybe it makes more sense. It’s basically like the preamp of an amp. But it’s a pedal meant to be run into an amp. Ha!

A dedicated footswitch for the gate seems like a missed opportunity. I'd much rather have that button switch to the low gain mode?
I have the Empress Heavy, which is two channels of gain, and a gate that is mini-switch controlled. I do love the channel switching, but there are times I do miss the ability to turn off the gate on the fly. Trade-offs must be made, I guess.

God I love when you play like this ! BU YOU STILL HAVENT ANSWERED MY QUESTION how to do you deal with the noise that comes in through your pickups that you mentioned in another video
If we’re only talking about RF/noise coming through the pick ups, and you can determine if that’s the case by Rolan and Guitar volume all the way off, and the sound should be relatively silent- if you’re using single coils, it’s always a bit of a compromise, and you just have to find the right position to sit in when recording. If it’s humbuckers, even then, there can be 180° position that sounds like the right angle to sit at when recording high gain parts. Beyond that, using a good noise gate can sometimes work, although they can be finicky.

Be-od is hard to beat, but that noise gate with key on the empress seems like it could be extremely useful!

Did you try it into the effects loop return to use as a preamp? Or you did, and right into a clean amp was the way it sounded the best?
Generally speaking, I’m not into the pedal into Amp FX loop method. Unless the pedal is specifically designed to be a replacement for a full on amp preamp.

Holy crap, dude. You are an awesome tasty player, and you compose some monster tasty hooks. How come you aren't writing an album full of heavy monster chunk metal tunes like this... why some high power super band hasn't scooped you up must be due to your busy schedule, but you should be in a [...you go and mention] DEFTONES, yes something like that, you are just totally made for that heavy a band, and beyond that. Hell, i even say you'd have made a better fit in Motley Crue than John5. But still, you're better than that, maybe replacing Jason Hook's empty spot in Five Finger Death Punch. He's wicked tasty, and you can hang there with ease. And doing your own metal band would be killer. Bro, you're one of my favorite of the newer breed of rippers.
