One time, when I lived in Peru, my foster family (I'll call them that) sent me about a block and a half away to buy potatoes at the market. I was instructed to spend 2 soles, but I mistranslated my instructions. I bought 2 dollars worth of potatoes. I came home with about 45 pounds of potatoes in a sack. My ex's dad laughed for a week
😂😂😂😂😂
ste men xd
wow.. that much potatoes is enough to sustain life on Mars (based on a documentary called "The Martian") 😄
@Dimaz42 only those who watched the movie will understand this 😂😂😂
It was definitely a shitload of papas
Wacatay is my new favorite herb. Also known as Peruvian black mint. Its easy to grow outside (I'm in Aberdeen, Scotland!
Huacatay is a must in Peru!
Es bueno para la gastritis que es causada por el bicho ese "estiritiacolin" no se cono se escribe 😅😅
You have to mix it with fresh cheese, is game changer.

En Perú comen papa amarilla y huevo sancochado con su riquísima salsa de Huacatay...que delicia😋
What I love about street food from Peru is that you can find healthy food too!, A big variety and I hope you can try someday more Peruvian dishes 🩷
Sometimes food is sold in dirty places like the one you see on this video, it's chaotic and somehow dirty, people may get sick by just being there and catching flu.
However, my people tries their best to be as clean as possible, being poor doesn't mean being dirty.
Sonny & Crew never expect themselves to actually reached $100 goal. Is just a creative way of showing off yummy food while while also showing how affordable it is. Well played
New York episode...
A couple of his episodes have reached the $100 limit.
I love how you can see everyone being so happy to have their food station being filmed😊🥺
Unlike that guy in New York who gave Sonny the finger for filming in front of his food truck. Difference between classy and an ahole. :)
didn't seem that way to me, they were more curious I'd say
Yeah I think that’s the reason they do it because if I was to visit that country and I am around there is more likely I am going to one of the stand he visited 🙄🤷♀️☺️
Peruvians can be very hospitable people.
@@lillyadames5093 sure ! if i have time i wanted to see that peruvians people .

I'm not sure why, but I enjoy watching him show these people that he can handle spicy food when they think he can't.
Representing the white man 💪🏼
I think México and the US have more spicy resistance than the sudamerican countries.
@@almal.l.8707Yes, Mexico by far ! Michoacán style chili oil is comparable to Asian chili oil 🌶🔥
Those were not really spice. He needs to try pinga de mono. Look it up 😂
Peru! I'm really looking forward to the main channel south american series, thanks for consistently making great content on both the main and second channel. Keep it up!
@Don't Read My Profile Photo Please cease to exist. Thank you.
I do food reviews while I’m high on my CZcams channel, first mexican to hop on the tube & do This ☝️☝️
I'm from South East Asian . I'm kinda surprised to see that there's so many similar foods we have. And how they cook food in banana leaves and all .
Peru has the most asían influence in latin América.... china is first
@@sacrilego27 He said Southeast Asia. The cuisine there is different from china but the food he saw with banana leaves came from the amazon(tropical area), similar weather as Southeast Asia.
Funny thing is even in South India rice is primary food served with different vegetables on banana leaf 😂
As a Mexican with a good friend growing up from Lima Peru I fell in love with a lot of their dishes. Excellent flavors and dishes
No one will read this comment but I'm just going to say it. This show is the only thing that brings me any happiness in a serious clinical depression. Sonny is positive, kind, funny, and doesn't waste the viewers time. In a world full of slimy narcissist grifters, Sonny remains true to himself and his viewers, and it makes a big difference, to me. Thank you, sincerely, from the bottom of my heart.

My dad was Peruvian, born in Lima. However, he would never have eaten this type of food. He wasn't adventurous, eating tuna salad, chicken, rice and vegetables only. I would love to try some of this food someday. I like different things to eat.

Tremendous report of Peruvian street food in Lima, many typical dishes and others not so well known, all wonderful and delicious
I think the $100 Dollar challenges are the best. Love the video’s!!
Keep on going. I live in Holland and 0 of these foods are known here, but damn it made me hungry.😮
Food looks good
I've been half way around the world and love to try new foods. Peru is my absolute favorite country to pig out. Part of that is to do it is so cheap. In a nice restaurant in Lima, I had ceveche and scallop incrusted in Parmigian cheese on the half shell, a water and soda for $11.
You can get the best grill 1/2 a chicken, potato fries and some mix veggies and drink for about $5.
Llama is okay. Cuy I'm not high on. The beef was excellent. The fruit and vegetables are all super farm fresh.
Is Holland the Netherlands?
I wanna see him do this challenge in norway. Itll be the shortest episode ever
🤣
after living in Norway for 8 months now, I can definitely agree lol
Or in Brandon’s america = one food dish and it will be fifty dollars.
@@chiragmehta8212 where are you eating 😂 mastros?

Peruvian people seems genuinely so nice. Definitely will want to visit some day.
I would just advice to go with someone who is familiar with Peru or with a local cause some parts of Lima can be dangerous… The rural parts/mountain side of Peru are filled with beautiful sites and with very sweet people tho
@@CuyLand thank you for the advice.
That they had to hire a bodyguard surprises me. What would have happened without him ? In the middle of the day like this ? With a crowd around ?
@@Desi365 I don’t live in Peru anymore but things have gotten worse now with the government corruption going on now. But where he’s at right now is like the bad part of Lima lol that’s why the food is so cheap.
@@Desi365 when I was little, this American guy got his finger cut off because he was wearing a nice ring…. So yea just dress down if you go there… and you will be targeted if you speak a different language, if you are white or even if you’re just pale looking lol.
Peruvian street food just has so much to offer to tourists. It actually keeps their cultures and traditions alive.
5:20 😂😂 Sonny is a natural comedian
Are you guys releasing more Peru videos? I’m going to travel there and I would use this video as guidance 😂
mark wiens has some amazing peru videos as well!
Jurel is a horse mackerel, more closely related to a Jack or Pompano than true mackerel. They are called "mackerel" because of a similar shape. The meat is less oily, less fishy, and more firm than true mackerel, while still oilier and fishier than most fish in the supermarket. A very underrated fish in my opinion. Excellent grilled, smoked, or even deep fried. Not sure I would want to eat one from a street vendor. Being that they are oily they do tend to get fishy in a not nice way if not fresh and kept on ice. Fresh they are absolutely excellent.
_"Fresh they are absolutely excellent"_ is true of all fish. Within 20 minutes of death at 20 degrees C or 68 degrees F. Cooler, the time will be longer.
@@tonyduncan9852 Yeah, I'm pretty sure I can find a fish this isn't true for. American shad come to mind. Bat ray, and many sharks, also not good.
@@gs6810 Nature is full of exceptions. "All" was wrong. I was talking generally, in general. Typical. Usual. That sort of "extremity". Some sharks are quite delicious (like pork without the pigginess). Cheers.
"The places we're shooting aren't the most safe here in Lima, so we have this guy. He has *pause* a gun."
I love how Sonny was able to deliver such a statement with so much enthusiasm.
Foreign countries are in desperate states him going there is brave like any tourists ever news reporters are advised of crime level i some areas. The residents are so giving cheerful but him buying food is helping them I know he gives them more then what they ask for. He is a very generous person.
@@patriciahayashi3919 😂😂😂 him going there isn't brave I have family I visit in Lima and my dad's white as can be....no need for security at all. He's just scared for no reason at all. It's more dangerous here in the u.s than Lima.

My guy says when you think you’re dying😂😂😂 every time I drank that corn juice man!
Those little peppers! I was in Tingo Maria and the chimichurri was dressed with one of those- I was going to eat it, and my GF, a passing waiter, and like 3 tables worth of restaurant patrons all PANICKED and stopped me from popping it in my mouth, telling me it would hospitalize me. I didn't try it that day lmao. Since then, though, I have actually grown my own (aji charapita) and they aren't very hot at all lol

That little yellow chile was a charapita. They have an interesting flavor and pack a punch of heat for their size. I grew them for a few years in Texas.

Mango Max. Thanks Sonny and crew!!!! LOVE THE SHOW!!!
There's clearly more money, time and resources going to this second channel than a little while ago. It's pretty close to having 2 main channels to get content from. Keep up the good sh*t

6:50 A tasty looking snack indeed... the coconut thingy looks good too, I guess..
I get the same thing with beetroot too, especially if it's pickled in balsamic vinegar or I have it juiced (which is lovely, I recommend it, but don't try juicing pickled beetroot as I'm reliably told it's nasty). All this food looks lovely, as always, thanks for bringing another wonderful, interesting, educational and enlightening video, Sonny. Your wife did well with the camera-work too.
