4:20. That is exactly why I watch Sunny; he tells it like it is. Not everything is the most delicious food he's ever tasted, some if it just sucks. Love how genuine he is.
@Gus Garcia thanks for the explanation! Had no idea
Several items looked like they should cost $1. The chicken looked as dry as a desert đ. That doesn't happen in Asia!
â@Gus Garcia aside from liver and onions there isn't much you can do with liver.
@Gus Garcia i love mexican and I'm well aware it outsells asain cuisine in the states but if you go to a truck stand in Vietnam, Thailand, etc.. their food is on average fresher and better quality than Mexican food trucks.
@Gus Garcia many times. You obviously making dumb assumptions.
Having been to this market, I can truly say the people, offerings, and culture is beautiful here! Great job, highlighting its beauty in this video!
I love Mexican shrimp cocktail, especially with some avocado!
Yessss!the avocado was missing
Yeah, i was like where's the avocado at??
Omg!!! I am Belizean, just south of Mexico. I see where we get some Belizean cuisine from!! The escabache, Salbutes, the tamales, it's the same way we prepare it in Belize đ§đż!!
Thatâs because Belize itâs technically Mexico and a Mayan world, if youâre not Native American looking then youâre probably a descendent of Europe or Africa âïž
The smell of fresh tortillas being made is so beautiful đ
Sonnyâs tips of getting a pink shirt for free: wash your white shirt with a red bandanna đ€Ł
Iâve made that mistake
good video
good video
good videođ
- or a red sock đ€ â„ïž rofl đ€Ł
The look-around that Sonny has when he walks into places is priceless...đđđ
As a Filipina, I know I'll be home in Mexico. đ
As a Mexican please bring some limpias as rice cake đ€€ oh and we also love flan đź
Chicharon bulaklak looks so good haha
Well.....we were colonized by the same country......and of the good things that they left was the cuisine
No, YouÂŽre not Welcome....
You are welcome in Mexico
Mexican street food is certainly extraordinary. They have all the flavors youâre after.
Iâm from YucatĂĄn (Tho Iâm living in mexico city) and watching this makes me home sick. Iâm so glad you enjoyed it and treated the food with respect and kindness.
And yes, we eat baby sharks in something called cazĂłn, its the meat of the shark with a tomatoey kind of sauce normaly found in something called Pan de cazĂłn or in empanadas
How would you describe the texture of shark? Is it similar to stingrays?
@@noranizaazmi6523 Pretty similar texture, but completely different flavor.
Hi can i ask for the name of the dark habanero sauce that Sonny ate with his sandwich
@@quanthecollector1415 it's called "Habanero Tatemado", basically is made of roasted habaneros, vinager, lime, onion, salt and pepper all of them blended.
@@juanalmeyda3252 thank u so much , muchos gracias . Have a good day đ„°đ„°
Ughh, the ceviche and cocktails look so good. Around my 40th birthday I suddenly developed a shellfish allergy and man, I miss shrimp and crab SO damn much.
I truly feel sorry for you. Shrimp is my favorite food. That would suck so much.
I've never seen a Yuca candied before in my life, Mexico is next level. â„đ„°
So good!
Is so delicious and soft
If you've tasted buba tea, then you have eaten candied yuca
Oh we candy everything in YucatĂĄn, yuca, pumpkin, papaya.
@@alexiacupul5115 đ€€đ€€đ€€
Brought back memories of the food in Mexico..but that was 40 yrs ago. The largest oysters in the cocktail that I had ever seen. Good timesđđ
I'm not a huge seafood guy but that huge cocktail goblet with shrimp and sauce looked awesome
Is real good thats what I eat when I go to a local Mexican restaurant on a weekend. Good with beer.
@@TheSancho323 You need a red beer to go with that!! Used to get it in El Paso.
Itâs deliciously addicting đ»đ»
And only $7?? That's nuts!
I do recommend trying it on a real restaurant and not on a market, they are normally not the freshest there (here on MĂ©rida, I would recommend to try food on pueblos or on traditional restaurants, markets are not that great)
Mexican street food is absolutely mouthwatering delicious
It's allright for about 3 seconds until you see how they just stick their bare hands and fingers in it. Squeeze and touch everything, and then you're somehow supposed to put that nasty shit in your mouth for some reason. So after those 3 seconds where it looks allright, it turns to vomit sensation and wanting to eat literally anything else
@@ddrg1271 no it doesn't, that shit tastes fire
@@ddrg1271 I'm talking about the street food itself not how they eat, the way they eat is their custom their culture their business not for anybody else to judge
@@mizueeats5415 Work on those comprehension skills... He is talking about how they use their hand to mix - cook and serve their food.. Just about every culture eats different foods with their hands...
It is actually disgusting to cook with your bare hands. There are food handling regulations for a reason in American and more advanced countries.
These people are not washing their hands in their Little food stands, that is not sanitary.
@@ShiftedGames work harder on yours ..... My comment is about the street food itself in general either cooked in Mexico US or Antarctica or Mars
The edit of your videos are just awesome. Hats off to your team for doing great work.
Agree. He really has a great team!
Its so nice to hear someone value something thats "half crunchy, half soggy and oily" thats the kind of down to earth stuff I enjoy
I've been watching all the Mexican food episodes because I'm craving birria tacos lol and have been waiting for this episode. I had a sixth sense it was coming soon for like a week. Thankyouuđ
Love loveee mexican food
They have so many regional dishes itâs crazy how extensive and rich their food is
Cant wait to go back
When I visited Mexico many years ago I tried so much good food. A ton of tacos, and the best carnitas tortas I've had and some amazing cheeses too đđđ
Hey Sonny you should do a episode on the weird ice cream in Mexico they have some weird flavors like chorizo, ceviche and more !
Wtf i have never heard of those hahah unless you talking about the youtuber guy that pranks people with that fake ice cream
11:28 they serve these as âshrimp cocktailâ at Mexican restaurants here in North Carolina, itâs almost like a ceviche soup although the seafood has been pre-cooked it is very good beer drinking food
Sunny tried the liver and said not my favorite, see, Iâm not a liarđ€Łđđ€Łđđđ I think itâs one of the moments or times Iâve heard Sonny come out to say he didnât like something⊠except for cucumber đ€Łđ€Łđ€Ł
Well if the owner tried cooking liver Chicharon style, the only outcome would be a hard slightly bitter liver. Not really appetizing sounding honestly.
There's been a a lot of things? In Japan, he didn't like the urchin. A few times when he had blood, he said he didn't like it, same thing with bowels/poop juice?
@@Casual-Pie agreed. Thereâs been a number of times that he didnât like something that he tried, but he still tried everythingâŠ.which is a huge difference
Liver's not my favorite either. Even when it's "good", I still don't like it.
Theres also a time he had to try bile in east africa too. He didnt like it. Hes honest
I'm from Merida and I hope you enjoyed our local food! Although you missed a couple of staple food here like, Sopa de Lima, Relleno negro (which is made with a blend of literally burnt chilies), and LechĂłn. But who knows maybe you can try them another time if you happen to be here.
About the difference from the Tamales in Mexico city, here we call the one you ate as ChachacuĂĄ. The dough its mixed with rendered lard and achiote spice (hence the color and the texture). There is another type of tamal which is called Tamal Colado that is also very delicious and is typical from Tabasco, Chiapas, Campeche, YucatĂĄn and Quintana Roo.
As for the Chicharra is better in a taco mixed with salad and sauce.
Edit: Just noticed this is the secondary channel haha
The Tamal Colado is the best. :D I wish I could see more people try it.
yo tambien soy de mérida pero nunca he oido que a el tamal yucateco se le llame Chachacuå jaj
Saben a culo. Noroeste es lo mejor.
Telenovelas will never show us THIS MEXICO, that's the MEXICO we want to know
Man am drooling over here.
Mexican đČđœ food is just bomb đŁ â€đ
Interesting to see how friendly the people are
My hello to all Mexicans âșïž đ

As a MĂ©xican that speak english I really enjoy your videos and your coments for our food, thanks for all Sunny :)
Love your videos. Keep it up
The first group of men who had a bit of soup with Sonny were kind. I wish Sonny purchased food or drinks something for them. Sharing that soup you never know it could take a lot to find or pay for that for the locals. Mexican culture is lovely viva Mexico!!đđ
But at the end, that kindness is what represent us as mexicans and I'm proud for that, we give without expecting anything in return.
We have something similar as Yuca here in Bandung, Indonesia. The difference is, the cassava are being fermented first, then dipped in palm sugar solution, then grilled. The fermented cassava is called peuyeum, and the whole dish with palm sugar and grilling process is called colenak I'd love to try Mexican food other than tacos, they all look delicious!
Been watching you forever and my fiance is Mexican so I love these videos as I get to introduce her to the type of videos I like to watch â€
I'm taking a 10 day trip to Yucatan and ending in Merida thanks for getting me warmed up for the area!
Merida is amazing. I've got very good memories of that town.

Im from MĂ©rida and that market is super good, although certain foods can be really rough for unacostumed stomachs, i once took an argentinian cousin there to eat and he loved the food but ended up sick and vomited lmao
Lucas de galvez is disgusting and full of drunk idiots. I live in Merida and would never eat from there...ever.and I eat street food 3 to 5 times a week

You should go to Sinaloa my family is from culiacan and our sushi and mariscos are very unique to us here also our tamales are made different then other parts of Mexico I recommend you to come out here to culiacan and try it we are the creators of la torre de mariscos 100% the best .
Lol do you want him to be kidnapped? He is a millionaire. The cartel would scoop him up in a heartbeat.
@@eternalbeing3339 itâs not dangerous here . My family lives in eldorado and we see the cartel guys ever day and they help when I was in middle school they would give us money for our books and food at school even helped us in our boxing class to get equipment. SINALOA isnât like other states where the cartel steals from the people or make small store owners pay commissions . Lmao here you rarely hear of someone stealing because the cartel guys get called and get handled . My mom is from a rancho far from culiacan and that little rancho doesnât have a close police station guess whoâs the police there the cartel they have maybe 3 to 4 trucks patrolling and if anything goes down someone stole etc they get called itâs really normal here a lot of people donât understand lmao . I am a subscriber but im not here because it popped up in my feed. I just searched Merida Mexico hoping to find a video by Sonny or Mark Wiens, the Food Ranger etc. and saw this a few videos down. I thought, "I am positive I've never seen Sonny in Merida before" and then looked at the post time and realized it was posted only 40 minutes ago. Fate brought me here.
Always Muchas Gracias!
Mexico seems to be a food heaven. Mexico hermanos, you need to market culinary tourism to Asian countries big time. You will find a lot of takers there as your spice levels and diversity of ingredients suits the palette there.
This is the best ever food review show
Im very fond of mexican food but only i imagined it specially when watching videos like this..mouth watering...đ€€đ€€đ€€đ€€
