One flashback shows Homelander as a kid undergoing CQC training so he probably can hold his own in a fist fight but probably grew lazy once he mastered his eye laser beams.

Butcher's grin in the big fight reminds me of his first fight scene against the invisible dude in episode 1. He's always loved throwing down against Supes that were only two or three steps above normal humans, and now he's strong enough to brawl with the strongest.

I just got done watching it myself. I'm so speechless. The whole episode was just wild from start to finish. Alot of WTF and funny moments but there was alot of crazy and awesome moments too. This was one of those "it goes from bad to worse" every second in this episode. I'm scared for Annie.
What I think is that when Soldier Boys starts using his nuclear balst power Butcher and Hugie also weaken, so they can no longer help him hold Homelander down.

Soldier Boy now knows and Homelander now knows. Their second encounter is gonna be the real scene.
3 really is the magic number... it took 3 women to take on Stormfront. And it took 3 men to take on Homelander. In both situations they are about to win , then they let the target escape. But let's be honest, we aren't ready to say goodbye to Homelander, yet.

But there are different types of fear and that fear is that there is someone out there who can hurt him and kill him especially when he was struggling in this fight, which means he was fighting for real. This shows that Homelander is not as strong as people thought he is and if he survived a nuke(Stillwell's claim, which is complete BS!) then he shouldn't be scared of Soldier Boy's mini nuke blast(if it didn't have the depowering function in it) and yet he was and on top of that he fled a fight(that is something that Homelander never did in his whole life).
The fight scene was insane but I think we can all agree that homelander is great in hand to hand combat because he could've killed soldier boy if butcher didn't intervene and it took all three of them to pin him down.
He can hold himself, but Butcher and Soldier boy are more experienced in hand to hand combat and outclass him...Soldier boy would have still found a way to strategically knock him off. Even in this fight, it was HL's speed and super strength keeping him standing.

What I found interesting is the misconception people had of homelander. Not thinking he can hold his own against someone strong or as strong as him, hence Death Battle Omni Man vs Homelander. But in the Diabolical “canon” episode, he was put against a big as dude in hand to hand combat as a kid. Great FKN episode
The death battle Omni man vs Homelander wasn't saying that he couldn't hold his own against other strong characters. It's that his universe is far more grounded despite being incredibly unrealistic. The greatest feats of strength speed and durability performed by Homelander pale in comparison to most other Superman clone characters who can usually destroy planets with a single punch.
Soldier Boy was obviously weakened from the previous blast, not saying he can kill Homelander 1v1. I feel the next time they fight they will pay it off and Homelander won't actually be able to kill him.
Butcher and Hughey, Starlight and MM, and Frenchie with Kamiko. Seems like they’re going with groups of 2 and giving them separate storylines this season.
Black Noir is the only one who has no fear of Homelander nor plot against him, he has no goal to go against Vought or personally seek out The Boys unless Edgar tell him to. He is just there .so Homelander could think of that as dependent.
The whole beat down of Homelander reminded me of the Girls Get It Done scene last season, and he took off with his tail between his legs just like Stormfront did as well. It almost seems like it was intended to reflect that scene. What could be going through Homelander's mind now? I wonder if he's going to give himself Compound V boosters in hope to give him an extra edge. Homelander is taking it from all directions now too, the weight of the company is weighing on. him, and he's equating if he fails here, he fails completely, and he's completely out of his element here. He is terrified to the point of paralysis on an emotional level. Of course by now he has to conclude that Maeve gave Butcher and Hughie Compound V. Not sure if he's aware of V24, but that seems irrelevant not. But with Maeve out of the picture, that means there are only 1 vial of V24 left, so at some point they won't be able to take on Homelander to the same degree. I'm also wondering if there are residual permanent effects. We saw last episode that Hughie was able to open a jam jar after his period of T24 had elapsed, and. now this episode we see Kimiko still being able to fight to some degree. Clearly she's still taking damage, but all things considered the injuries she sustained in Russia really would put any normies out of fighting shape. I think A-Train is dead. His redemption arc has completed. It was pretty clear when he gave Hughie that sincere apology. That freed him up to take his revenge on Blue Hawk, with no regrets, and I'm pretty sure he knew that would kill him too. And Annie's last scene here., if Homelander was smart he could try to turn the public against her by telling them she was participating in Herogasm. I feel that kind of thing would erode her public support.

Yeah, i don't think Soldier boy's even that bad of a guy. He might be a little bit of an asshole but I think he's still a good guy. He was definitely not in control this episode, he was even ready to hear the twins out and spear their life. It's only after that Russian music playing that triggered his ptsd and blasted everything.

But tbf he took more hits the the face whereas soldierboy got hit a couple times then kicked and choked..not as many direct punches to the face Homelander holding his own against the 3 was sick..wish we had 1 extra minute of fighting and for Soliderboy to use his shield and for Homelander to fly one of them up out the house then slam them back down or some shit like that

The Boys continues to give us schock and awe. Insanity continues to prevail, the whole Herogasm scenes, The Deep and the octopus was gross. A-Train getting revenge on Blue Hawk, Komiko rescuing frenchie and of course the battle scenes near the end were amazing ! ✌
I believe that Homelander has dissociative identity disorder In the reflection, Homelander says "When we were kids, alone in the bad room, i got us through it" And in The Boys: Diabolical, episode 8 "One Plus One Equals Two" [spoilers] When Homelander goes into panic and got trigger after failing to save a hostage. He goes into a black out and murders everyone in the room, hostages and terrorist equally, he regains conscious but he is afraid of what he did. And we know by season 1 flashbacks and the Diabolical episode that Homelander' childhood was awful, so his other personality was a response to the trauma.
Fun Fact: They could've won and heres how While the three of them held Homelander down Butcher could've lazered his face as they were holding him down, this would distract Homelander furthermore.

I hadn't realized that you guys never got a chance to finish out the "Diabolical" series. In one of the episodes, it gives some backstory to the relationship between Black Noir and Homelander.
this episode just made homelander even more terrifying for me. he would've won against soldier boy who is the closest to his strenght if butcher, who basically has watered down homelander powers, didn't step in. in the end it took 3 supes to hold him down, and even then he got away.
I was expecting this episode to be filler because the herogasm stuff was being hyped so much, I was surprised with how much happened though and it's easily the best episode of the season so far, I'm mad we have to wait a week for episode 7 😭 they jumped tf out of homelander lol

I think they did intentionally, they hyped all the episode for one specific reason and then the episode itself was the best one so far but not for what was hyped for so it got everyone surprised.
I hate that the writers of this episode just boiled down Hughie's motivation as being emasculated. They could've done a better job by using his backstory with Robin as a reason for what he's doing. The writers literally used his backstory in the same episode then forgot about it just to use a real life commentary for the character's motivations. Instead of Hughie saying he's just emasculated, he should've told Starlight that what happened with Robin is still affecting his decisions today. He should've said "When Robin died, I wasn't prepared for it. It was so unexpected, there were no warnings at all. I wasn't able to do anything to prevent it from happening and all I could do was to just accept it and move on. I don't what to do that to you. I can't just sit here knowing you'll die in the hands of Homelander and knowing we had a way to stop him. I don't want to just move on and accept that you'll die, I can't do that again."
I just loved it. Loved the entire episode. The 3 on 1 fight scene was absolutely incredible. Wanna see more but god-damnit, I've to wait for a week ☹️. But now after this Soldier Boy vs Homelander proved me that Homelander is way much stronger than Soldier Boy.
Homelander is supposed to be straight up stronger that Soldier boy, but I think Soldier boy actually has combat experience and competence in fight skill because he wasn't so far above everyone else, and that's why I think he's so confident in his banter. Even if he knows homelander is stronger, soldier boy intends to close the gap with his experience. But I hope now he see's the value in butcher and Hughie.
damn i'm conflicted... i honestly feel that in order to stop homelander, especially with him at the height of his power and insanity, you need to be willing to use force, to fight dirty, because at this point, he needs a good decking. that being said, i don't like the idea of disregarding the lives lost in these battles. while i still feel like these fights, as physical as they get, are necessary to impose on superpowered beings who won't play nice, the drive to stop them shouldn't push it past the point of any regard for innocent lives.

MM was the lowlight of this episode for me. He wasn't thinking right. There's a time and place for everything. I just groaned everytime MM has a scene this episode.

I think this is the first time in my life where I envisioned myself beating the crap out of Homelander when the 4 of them were fighting. Shouting FUCK HIM UP FUCK HIM UP at the top of my voice. I bow down to Antony Starr for his portrayal of Homelander and the scriptwriters, directors and all the actors for playing their part so beautifully. I'm still in shock and awe.

So couple of things, Newman can't kill Starlight because she's more durable, In the comics MM is actually a sup, he gets super strength when he drinks his mother's milk You'll have to watch the animated series to know why Homelander likes Noir Frankly even I'd freakout if a someone starts pulling out their hair like that We also have to remember Kimiko was involved with a military/militia since childhood, her strength and training shouldn't be taken lightly And Homelander is clearly stronger, his beam is stronger and he can clearly take on bot Butcher and Soldier Boy at once, if Soldier Boy attacks Noir next, Homelander can team up and become victorious, The more I watch this show the more I feel for Homelander, Imagine if Storefront came back now, Soldier Boy will clearly go after him and we know how strong she is and after teaming up with Homelander and Noir, oof I don't think we'll see Ryan again until the end of season, we might get Maeve back, maybe Edit: also Hugie is still weaker than Anne, lol, 😂

The source material was largely abandoned in season 1. They still pull from it to introduce new characters like little Nina and Soldier boy but their stories are drastically different than that of their comic counterparts. The boys all have superpowers in the comic. Butcher injected Hughie with compound v by suprise before he even agreed to join the team.
The fact that homelander had to run literally proves that he couldn’t beat them even tho he’s really powerful , yes it took three of them to do something to him but he get man handle for the first time in forever… this episode was insane

The Boys aren’t in good standing either. Only Butcher and Hughie plus Soldier Boy are in the group, which is still not bad considering they are strong together but it looks like they’re going off to another extreme without Starlight, MM, Kimiko, and Frenchie.
The last 15 minutes were balls to the wall awesome. Actually seeing Homelander in a proper fight was worth the wait. And Billy's bloody smile made me do the same. Each episode keeps raising the bar. Ofcourse the depravity has no problem getting lower lol.

3 really is the magic number... it took 3 women to take on Stormfront. And it took 3 men to take on Homelander. In both situations they are about to win , then they let the target escape.
But let's be honest, we aren't ready to say goodbye to Homelander, yet.
Homelander has just felt what he has never felt before and that is fear.
I'm pretty sure he has felt fear his whole life, that's why he is how he is.

But there are different types of fear and that fear is that there is someone out there who can hurt him and kill him especially when he was struggling in this fight, which means he was fighting for real. This shows that Homelander is not as strong as people thought he is and if he survived a nuke(Stillwell's claim, which is complete BS!) then he shouldn't be scared of Soldier Boy's mini nuke blast(if it didn't have the depowering function in it) and yet he was and on top of that he fled a fight(that is something that Homelander never did in his whole life).
The fight scene was insane but I think we can all agree that homelander is great in hand to hand combat because he could've killed soldier boy if butcher didn't intervene and it took all three of them to pin him down.
He can hold himself, but Butcher and Soldier boy are more experienced in hand to hand combat and outclass him...Soldier boy would have still found a way to strategically knock him off. Even in this fight, it was HL's speed and super strength keeping him standing.
He's not great he's just Stronger than them. If he was great they would barely get a punch in if any.

There is a visible character shift shown here. Since there are few deviations from comics, Can't wait for what happens next in the series...
What I found interesting is the misconception people had of homelander. Not thinking he can hold his own against someone strong or as strong as him, hence Death Battle Omni Man vs Homelander. But in the Diabolical “canon” episode, he was put against a big as dude in hand to hand combat as a kid. Great FKN episode
The death battle Omni man vs Homelander wasn't saying that he couldn't hold his own against other strong characters. It's that his universe is far more grounded despite being incredibly unrealistic. The greatest feats of strength speed and durability performed by Homelander pale in comparison to most other Superman clone characters who can usually destroy planets with a single punch.
Soldier Boy was obviously weakened from the previous blast, not saying he can kill Homelander 1v1. I feel the next time they fight they will pay it off and Homelander won't actually be able to kill him.

Soldier Boy and Billy Butcher going on Homelander gave the Civil War vibes of the fight between Iron Man vs. Captain America and Winter Soldier.
Homelander talking to himself in the mirror kinda reminds me of Willem Dafoe (Green Goblin) from Spider Man 1...he nails it

Butcher and Hughey, Starlight and MM, and Frenchie with Kamiko. Seems like they’re going with groups of 2 and giving them separate storylines this season.
Black Noir is the only one who has no fear of Homelander nor plot against him, he has no goal to go against Vought or personally seek out The Boys unless Edgar tell him to. He is just there .so Homelander could think of that as dependent.
The whole beat down of Homelander reminded me of the Girls Get It Done scene last season, and he took off with his tail between his legs just like Stormfront did as well. It almost seems like it was intended to reflect that scene.
What could be going through Homelander's mind now? I wonder if he's going to give himself Compound V boosters in hope to give him an extra edge.
Homelander is taking it from all directions now too, the weight of the company is weighing on. him, and he's equating if he fails here, he fails completely, and he's completely out of his element here. He is terrified to the point of paralysis on an emotional level.
Of course by now he has to conclude that Maeve gave Butcher and Hughie Compound V. Not sure if he's aware of V24, but that seems irrelevant not. But with Maeve out of the picture, that means there are only 1 vial of V24 left, so at some point they won't be able to take on Homelander to the same degree.
I'm also wondering if there are residual permanent effects. We saw last episode that Hughie was able to open a jam jar after his period of T24 had elapsed, and. now this episode we see Kimiko still being able to fight to some degree. Clearly she's still taking damage, but all things considered the injuries she sustained in Russia really would put any normies out of fighting shape.
I think A-Train is dead. His redemption arc has completed. It was pretty clear when he gave Hughie that sincere apology. That freed him up to take his revenge on Blue Hawk, with no regrets, and I'm pretty sure he knew that would kill him too.
And Annie's last scene here., if Homelander was smart he could try to turn the public against her by telling them she was participating in Herogasm. I feel that kind of thing would erode her public support.

Also, since it's often mirroring social commentary with the real world. I wonder if this is supposed to be mirrorings janurary 6th, and how even with evidence straight in front of the public as to how horrible homelander is, people will just decide to ignore it and label it as fake news and nothing will change. He said he blacked out in the city and he asked butcher what happened after the house blew up, but he did look like he intentionally blasted countess. However it seemed like he wasnt ready to nuke the twinz and only blew up cuz russian music triggered him just like it did last ep
Yeah, i don't think Soldier boy's even that bad of a guy. He might be a little bit of an asshole but I think he's still a good guy. He was definitely not in control this episode, he was even ready to hear the twins out and spear their life. It's only after that Russian music playing that triggered his ptsd and blasted everything.
It's something new for him and I don't think he's really mastered conscious control of it yet.

I’m pretty sure Homelander is physically stronger than Soldier Boy, but Soldier Boy had no visible injuries, meaning he is more durable than Homelander
But tbf he took more hits the the face whereas soldierboy got hit a couple times then kicked and choked..not as many direct punches to the face
Homelander holding his own against the 3 was sick..wish we had 1 extra minute of fighting and for Soliderboy to use his shield and for Homelander to fly one of them up out the house then slam them back down or some shit like that
This episode is easily one of the best things I've watched on TV, holy fucking shit.

The Boys continues to give us schock and awe. Insanity continues to prevail, the whole Herogasm scenes, The Deep and the octopus was gross. A-Train getting revenge on Blue Hawk, Komiko rescuing frenchie and of course the battle scenes near the end were amazing ! ✌

In the reflection, Homelander says "When we were kids, alone in the bad room, i got us through it"
And in The Boys: Diabolical, episode 8 "One Plus One Equals Two" [spoilers] When Homelander goes into panic and got trigger after failing to save a hostage. He goes into a black out and murders everyone in the room, hostages and terrorist equally, he regains conscious but he is afraid of what he did.
And we know by season 1 flashbacks and the Diabolical episode that Homelander' childhood was awful, so his other personality was a response to the trauma.

The things is the Lazer being powered up was cutting away there power, homelander tried to use his lazers but didn't work, same for the twins, probably would have happened with butcher

I hadn't realized that you guys never got a chance to finish out the "Diabolical" series. In one of the episodes, it gives some backstory to the relationship between Black Noir and Homelander.
this episode just made homelander even more terrifying for me. he would've won against soldier boy who is the closest to his strenght if butcher, who basically has watered down homelander powers, didn't step in. in the end it took 3 supes to hold him down, and even then he got away.
I was expecting this episode to be filler because the herogasm stuff was being hyped so much, I was surprised with how much happened though and it's easily the best episode of the season so far, I'm mad we have to wait a week for episode 7 😭 they jumped tf out of homelander lol
Anyone who reads the boys comic knows what herogasm will be about but comics one is far wilder Than this series one

I hate that the writers of this episode just boiled down Hughie's motivation as being emasculated. They could've done a better job by using his backstory with Robin as a reason for what he's doing. The writers literally used his backstory in the same episode then forgot about it just to use a real life commentary for the character's motivations.
Instead of Hughie saying he's just emasculated, he should've told Starlight that what happened with Robin is still affecting his decisions today. He should've said "When Robin died, I wasn't prepared for it. It was so unexpected, there were no warnings at all. I wasn't able to do anything to prevent it from happening and all I could do was to just accept it and move on. I don't what to do that to you. I can't just sit here knowing you'll die in the hands of Homelander and knowing we had a way to stop him. I don't want to just move on and accept that you'll die, I can't do that again."
I just loved it. Loved the entire episode. The 3 on 1 fight scene was absolutely incredible. Wanna see more but god-damnit, I've to wait for a week ☹️. But now after this Soldier Boy vs Homelander proved me that Homelander is way much stronger than Soldier Boy.
Homelander is supposed to be straight up stronger that Soldier boy, but I think Soldier boy actually has combat experience and competence in fight skill because he wasn't so far above everyone else, and that's why I think he's so confident in his banter. Even if he knows homelander is stronger, soldier boy intends to close the gap with his experience. But I hope now he see's the value in butcher and Hughie.
damn i'm conflicted... i honestly feel that in order to stop homelander, especially with him at the height of his power and insanity, you need to be willing to use force, to fight dirty, because at this point, he needs a good decking.
that being said, i don't like the idea of disregarding the lives lost in these battles. while i still feel like these fights, as physical as they get, are necessary to impose on superpowered beings who won't play nice, the drive to stop them shouldn't push it past the point of any regard for innocent lives.
But most of the superhero aren't really innocent

Soldier Boy may just be my favourite Hero from The Boys.
I think this is the first time in my life where I envisioned myself beating the crap out of Homelander when the 4 of them were fighting. Shouting FUCK HIM UP FUCK HIM UP at the top of my voice. I bow down to Antony Starr for his portrayal of Homelander and the scriptwriters, directors and all the actors for playing their part so beautifully. I'm still in shock and awe.
This episode looked like a fucking finale, it's was awesome it made have doubts that we're having an episode 7 next week

The source material was largely abandoned in season 1. They still pull from it to introduce new characters like little Nina and Soldier boy but their stories are drastically different than that of their comic counterparts. The boys all have superpowers in the comic. Butcher injected Hughie with compound v by suprise before he even agreed to join the team.
The fact that homelander had to run literally proves that he couldn’t beat them even tho he’s really powerful , yes it took three of them to do something to him but he get man handle for the first time in forever… this episode was insane

The Boys aren’t in good standing either. Only Butcher and Hughie plus Soldier Boy are in the group, which is still not bad considering they are strong together but it looks like they’re going off to another extreme without Starlight, MM, Kimiko, and Frenchie.
