I’m on my wife’s phone, while she sleeps in her hospital bed after her colostomy surgery today. This is all new for us. UC symptoms started less than a month ago and she had to have emergency surgery due to a severe tear. She got out of surgery 11 hours ago so I’m trying to do some research to help her out with this new lifestyle. Thank you for all your content that you post for your viewers with IBD’s, and their supporting husbands!
How awesome is it that you are researching for her right now? What a supportive husband!
Maggie you r such an inspiration! I watched all your vids before my own colostomy surgery in May. You made me much less afraid and much more confident I could handle what was to come!! I am old enough to be your mother (I am 50!) but you have given me soooo much comfort in these past months! Now it’s your turn to take all the positive energy you can from me and all the other well wishers! I pray for a fast and pain free recovery! I look forward to all your future videos and watching you blossom after your recovery!! God bless you and Zack!!
You will feel much better. I had that done 47 years ago I’m 65 and still going strongish, lol good luck!

I hope that your recovery is without and set back. I wish you the best.
Maggie, after my colostomy surgery four months ago, your channel was most helpful to me and I have kept up with your journey since then. Your courage and upbeat attitude set a great example for everyone. I'm so glad this is behind you now, and you can begin to heal and get on with your life. I'll be watching! (Washington state, 67 years old, cancer patient with rectal tumor.)
Oh my goodness, thank you!! Hope you are doing well with your colostomy ♡
@@LetsTalkIBD I am now, thanks. "Perky" and I are getting along great but there was a definite adjustment period. I hadn't expected that. I thought I'd ace having a colostomy, since I had had an ileostomy four years ago for several months. But this was a whole different experience. We learn and grow, right? Keep up the great work! You are inspiring people who need a lift.
I hope you have a good recovery. BIG HUG FROM COSTA RICA
Just got told today that I need a proctocolectomy. The GI said it was my only option. He said my life would change for the better

I feel for you. I had a total colectomy 35 years ago for UC. Luckily I had a j pouch formed a couple of years after the colectomy that is still functioning ok. Since the surgery I have fathered 3 great sons and have been continuously employed. Life does go on.
Have you sorts of incontinence problems with that surgery, maby by the nights? Because I have a lots of this?!

So impressed by your bravery. The rest of us don't know how lucky we are. Best wishes.😉
Had a proctocolecyomy in '13. Was rough at first , but after the first year you start to get the rhythm of your new "normal" toileting... Still better than U.C.
I know a man who had his colon removed when he was forty five. He recently turned 90. Myself, I had a right hemicolectomy in 2003. Good luck to you!
Maggie I’m 54 and I just found out I’m facing a live with a bag and I terrified. I’m so tired of being sick all the time but when I see your sore skin and all the battles you are fighting it scares me even more. Has your life really improved with the bag? You are so positive and beautiful it makes me feel like a woos but I can’t help it. I’m so scared of infection and sore skin I just don’t know what to do and I can’t stop crying
Hi there! While I show some of the battles I go through with the ostomy, it has been far better than life before I had one. I know everyone's story is different, but I was so sick and spent hours in the bathroom every day before I go the ostomy. I'm not sure I'd be alive today without it! There is also a huge wonderful community online of people with ostomies who are always willing to help troubleshoot issues! I hope that if you get the surgery, it gives you some relief with what you are dealing with!!! ♡
Kymmer, hope you re In a better place health wise . Best wishes from the UK.
💙sending you love and prayers for a speedy recovery Maggie💙Rest and DO NOT worry about the updates right now💙You got this girlie!! 👍 Just take one moment at a time. 👍
Its been one hellva journey for you and honoured to walk the journey with you! Keep your head up and keep smiling. 😃 🙂
I have a temp colostomy and I know I’ll be In your shoes one day. My Crohn’s is so severe that reversal is something I don’t even want. This disease steals so much from us. I’d rather be with a permanent bag than to let this control my entire life. Surgery after surgery is so much on someone. I’m 24 and had 6 resections
Before a bag. Sepsis landed me In a bag.
Decided to keep mine. Reversal is significant surgery and having a bag is no big deal anymore.
Hi Emily 1981 i received a colostomy and i am still going strong , i was the first FDNY fire fighter to work full duty with one.I think its the way to go,hang in there.nick

And u had some extra findings that lengthened surgery...😥 I hope u didn't suffer any ill effects from 6 hrs of anesthesia. (the pukes) I'll catch the post surgical video.

I'd be scared to death! I have severe IBS and it's pure hell on earth! Prayers for you sweetie.🙏🙏🙏🙏❤❤
I had Ulcerative Colitis for 3-4 years. Tried all the drugs. Some worked for awhile but it always came back. Had to be admitted to hospital urgently for IV steroids three times. Finally decided to have the operation. Was out of hospital in a few days although they say normally a week. Had bag for three years now. It's really not bad. Can't feel it most of the time. Doesn't stop me doing anything. Can swim etc. Don't need to eat fibre anymore! Wish I'd had the operation sooner.
I love your dad's beautiful deep voice. So charming 😀
god be with you sweet lady
I m gonna get admitted to for my surgery next week. fully scared now ,hope everything will be alright.
How Crazy! I had 10 inches of my colon removed on December 13th! My dog knew something was going on and when I was at the hospital she ended up having seizures, My daughters friend ended recommended she use cbd oil for her and it actually worked. hope your feeling better, I am slowly.

I never had that much fun in the hospital.
Good luck beautful Maggie
God bless you I hope you are feeling better and your life has come to normal... I am going to do my operation soon for endometriosis which is about scar tissues.. Pray for me please 🙂
Wow, you’re an amazing woman. I would have been a wreck if this had happened to me at your age.
Animals know when we need them xxx
God bless you
Happy 2020
I had the same operation 24 years ago. I have a j pouch.
I hope you are doing well!!
My brother almost had to get a colostomy bag also
You never answer any of my comments yet. I also messaged you on IG. But here is another question. How do you think that fistula on your tail bone affected you? Because that's what I think I have and so I get cold chills when food passes parts of my bowel. And why could hey not see that on scans?
God bless you
i had my large intestine removed in may 2018 due to colonic neuropathy, best decision i’ve made 💗🦓
Getting this surgery on March 16th!
Hi Maggie and other youtubers I might have to have a proctocolectomy done and I am so worried, nervous and panicking about it. I'm scared of the pain that comes with surgery. Is the pain bearable or do they give you anything to combat the pain?
Yes, they give you medicine for pain! I highly suggest getting a waffle pillow for sitting and even laying down - it is very helpful for shifting your weight back and forth because you can put pressure directly on the incision. Good luck!! ❤
Does the medicine get rid of all of the pain or does it lessen the degree of it. How much does it hurt when you're on the pain medication
Also do they have single incision Laparoscopic surgery as an option?
I love your videos. I had my colon removed to in November 2019.
Same problem
Good hospital
May I ask what your ferritin level is?
Please someone tell me im just diagnosis with mild colitis
did I cry? maybe
