Is this Stealthy Stove any good?

  • For the past couple of months (when it's not been raining), I've been putting this Stealth Stove from Polymath to the test.
Does it do a good job?
Yes, it acts as a windbreak for your alcohol stove, and feels strong when you put your pot of water on it to boil...and yes, I can make a good cup of tea while using it.
It packs up flat and fits nicely into my bag.

Hi Claire, it’s great to see you out and doing films again. Your strength is talking about things you know or use or do regularly which is refreshing- nothing against other videos that review the latest thing, but it’s always good to see someone sharing what they know from experience as opposed to just having an opinion on. Thanks again 🙏

Thank you for watching the video and the comment. I don't think I'd have the confidence to do a video on something I have hardly used and have an opinion on. I'd much rather use something properly first. :)

Well you do that very well. Plus you’re endorsing a British brand I think. My first super lightweight stove was Pokymaths phantom stove, pot rest and shield which is a bargain as well. Your review a while back Decathlon’s water filter was really helpful too 🙏

Very concise, useful and to the point review. I no longer go hiking or camping due to health issues but this would be ideal to use even in my back garden. Thank you Claire.

Thank you so much for the comment and for watching the video. I'm sorry to read that you're no longer able to go hiking or camping. But yes, it would be an ideal little stove to use anywhere.

Whenever I wear out a heavy shirt with flapped pockets I cut the pockets off and turn them into pouches for small things like this stove. Great video

That's a great idea! Great use of material. The leather I use is from an old leather arm chair that was going to the dump. I reclaimed as much as I could :) Thank you for the comment 🙏

It's sturdy enough for what I need. And I feel like it's sturdier and easier to put together than the cheap titanium thing I got at the beginning of the year.

    Very nice and concise!
I was looking at that on Amazon the other day.
I’m sure you already know this, any alcohol stove and “windscreen”potstand would require use of a separate windscreen to be very effective in fuel savings and boil time. :))

I would agree, though this one does a good job on lighter wind days. :) Thank you for watching the video and for leaving a comment.

    hi Claire
if you using tall pots (taller than 7.5 cm), you have to check xboil stove!
    I love it

    👍👍👍 .. nice 😊.
Another 'variation on a theme' and if it does the job, one is happy with it, then it's good!
In addition, I like your choice in the Solo Stove .. economical and effective use of natural resources and versatile / multi-fuel to boot.
It 'takes up space'? Yes .. however, considering that the interior can be packed with other 'stuff' .. not then as much an issue that one would imagine.
Would I buy one? They don't ship to Switzerland (I could always get my Son who lives in the UK to do the honours) .. but I currently have more than enough Stoves, Burners, Pot Stands, Wind Screens, etc to keep me occupied (not that there is no room for just one more .. 😏). Anyway, I've moved into the realm of 'making my own' from preferably 'salvaged' throwaway stuff found out there .. keeps me out of mischief 😏.
A good post .. and I'm sure that many out there can consider this practical cook option .. thanks.

I'm sorry you can't get a solo stove so easily over there. That's sad. But at least there's a way, should you decide to (can you have too many stoves?! ;) ).
Good idea to put things in the stove. Sometimes I put the alcohol stove in there, sometimes I put it in my pot. It all depends on the adventure (and my ever changing mood.).
Thank you for the lovely message. 🙏

Great video thanks for sharing. I have the basic solo stove, not tried a trangia burner in it yet. What's this like in the open when it's windy?

    • @clairesoutdoorodyssey
      @clairesoutdoorodyssey  Před 25 dny +1

It can burn a bit more fiercely. I always take a foldable aluminium shield as extra, just in case the wind is strong.
