The Baroque Tarot Deck, much like Fantôme, is inspired by an architectural and artistic style. The Baroque style was developed and used in countless churches across Europe through the seventeenth to the nineteenth century. I love the idea and the beautiful production. The scenes are well composed (love the knights) and the colours are delightful. BUT the faces. Most of them look dead, with some very beautiful exceptions (some court cards, the Empress, and a few more). I still want the deck, but will sleep on it, lol.
I did enjoy your walk through very much and the music was heavenly 🙂
So the concept of death was a major part of Baroque art, this was the period of the Vanitas or vanity painting which always depicts all the things you cant take with you and often depicted a skull or other morbid anatomy. Also, depictions of actual deaths were very popular, take a google trip over to Carravagio's Judith Beheading Holofernes. The style of of the art is very intentional as it is designed in the same vein as the Baroque art movement. Thanks for watching. :)
@@ModernMetaphysicae OMG! You are right... I live in Prague surrounded by Baroque architecture and art and to me it all seemed 'normal'. I 'live' with these skulls, skeletons and morbid death scenes my whole life and it only strucked me as odd when I watched your walkthrough of this tarot deck, lol.

It is a beautiful deck! It made me chuckle too when I saw reviews that clearly didn't understand the art style it was based in. I have travelled widely in Italy, France and Germany so the Baroque movement is familiar to me and it was great to see a proper intro to the style including images of paintings, sculpture and architecture to help place the deck's stylistic intent. I um-ed and ah-ed about purchasing it, but as I have a smaller collection and want to stay within a certain number of decks, this one plays in the same spot for me as my Heaven and Earth Tarot so I (reluctantly) passed. I think this is one that if it is meant to find me, it will in another way. Thank you!

More to come! Time is always my enemy and I do substantially more development, filming, and editing on my reviews than most. Quality over quantity is where I like to be. I also hold myself accountable to using a deck before I review it.

This is a gorgeous deck! I love everything about it. The court cards are alive and dynamic! The entire suit of Wands is so well done …love the detail and differences in each wand. It is definitely at the top of my “got to have” list! Thanks for the walk through Dustin!

It looks like she learned all the things of what not to do from the first Kickstarter deck she made and perfected it with this deck. I was so disappointed in her first deck/app that I couldn't even bring myself to buy this one, even though it's everything I love in a tarot deck. I won't go into the reasons why here but I know she meant well, she just couldn't follow through with what was promised. Thank you for sharing it here & making me regret my decision. Lol!
Fantome didnt really appeal to me all that much, and Augmented reality things are always interesting but never have any lasting value. This deck is AMAZING! You can always pick it up from them directly from her. :)

Wow, what a beautiful deck! Thank you for the review from my Art History days in college. I LOVE Art History and it's been a very long time. This is a deck that resonates with me, although it is so beautiful I would be afraid to shuffle it and give it scuff marks, lol! I loved your little rant about Baroque style art during that live, I have even heard the word baroque mispronounced on a deck review. Not the reviewers fault, art history should be required learning in my opinion as it helps folks understand history better, lol! Thank you for bringing this review to us, I will be looking into this deck. UPDATE: Purchased, lol!!
The cardstock is actually pretty durable so far so good. The one thing I worry about is the longevity of the foiling, but thus far its been great and Im a rough riffle shuffler. Art History should totally be required. At my Uni, all degrees required art credits, and MOST people took art history 101, but not all schools are like that.

Hey Dustin! It took me a while to warm up to the deck. When I first received it, I was slightly put off by the (albeit subtle) collage work. However, it wasn't until I saw your live stream where you talked about the intentionality behind collaging that I realized I did not have any issue with how it was done here. It truly is a gorgeous deck! This will definitely be one of the show-pieces I leave out in the open for people to see when they visit.

The cheap one you got is likely a counterfeit deck using stolen images and is not authorized. I would report the listing if you purchased it online or demand a refund. Please don't buy/support counterfeit decks.

Hi Dustin, may i ask you a question about the Star card in this deck, i pulled it and noticed they are 8 pointed stars and there are lines connecting the stars together. Is that significant? I thought you may be able to explain the symbols to me. Would love to hear you thoughts on this. TIA
As the deck is a clone of the RWS the symbolism would be the same. The lines could represent a constellation, or even perhaps a depiction of the lighting flash of aleph, but I suspect it's just for aesthetics and holds no specific symbolism.
