If you do HEMA or Buhurt you'll see that in intense sparring sometimes, but it happens more if the swords have a little rust

I wpuld pay good money to see what a full grown man who trained since he was 7 for medieval warfare would be able to do with this gear. These guys must ve been very impressive
No cars, no TV, no computers, no cell phones to distract them. Just a single-minded obsession with mastering their bodies to build strength and leverage, and mastering their weapons to work around armor.
A lot of the guys that do this are excellent athletes. you might be surprised at the hours they train to do this.
@@birddog7492 well yes, I myself started to train at 6 and pretty much never stoped until 27, even did 3 years of military service so I m pretty build up, but having a very specific focused medieval warfare training your whole life, coupled with the harsh living condition of the middle age, would be something else imo.
Hell, I know for a fact that my grandfather service was already so much harder than anything they make you do in the army today. Standards in pure performance goes lower as confort and technology increases. And for example, we know that archers from middle age even had skeletton deformation so much that they trained this specific art so much

Stuff like this really puts medieval combat into perspective. Obviously this isn't to the death, but no sword in the world is going to penetrate hard steel. No wonder clubs, hammers and picks came into favor.

To be fair the sword was a backup weapon not a main weapon so they would actually charge with a spear or axe
@@r.i.peperoniiiiroh9625 Spear and axe are definitely better, but I find it incredibly ironic how a heavy stick or stone remains one of the most effective weapons against a heavily armored opponent.
No it's not, this is a modern sport with modern weapons that wouldnt have been use back then. Tournaments were not like this.
Its crazy to think that a long time ago, these two would have been the most trained fuckers on the battlefield and everyone would look upon them with awe and respect as one of them stone cold steve Austin's them to the ground.

Not exactly the most trained - I’m sure these guys have full time jobs and stuff. Back in the day as a master-at-arms THIS is what you would do as your profession, and you’d be constantly evolving through many tournaments and battles. The level of skill will likely never get as high as it was then because this is just a hobby now and thankfully not a necessity.
