@@attractivecrayon7579 I was a good noodle for a long time! Lots of pre-writing and a detailed outline meant that I was able to do updates with 12k+ words twice a week. As soon as my organization crashed around the holidays last year, though... I became something of a disaster.
I can't even write a kiss-scene without feeling that the main character is self insert, while it really isn't. Help
sounds like you probably need to make character bios. That helps you draw connections between different facts about a character, so that you can extrapolate information about how the character might behave sexually from the facts about them that appear in the source material.

OH. MY. GOSH. There was this AMAZING Loki/OC fanfic back on Tumblr. The author had wrote multiple chapters and updated twice a month. Then it dwindled to once a month due to her being busy. No big deal, completely understandable. Then, after quite some time on hiatus, she posted that not only was she not finishing the fanfic, she was taking it off the internet because she was changing the character names and publishing it into a novel. Okay, I was a bit sad but happy that she was publishing. I could always insert Loki and the OC's name in when I read it in book-form. I immediately signed up for her emailing list so I could buy the novel when she published it.
It's been 5-ish years and I've never gotten an email. I can't even read the old chapters because she deleted them. I'll never know what happens to Loki and his wife, or why she had magic, or what the necklace did. It was a slow burn romance and I really loved both Loki and his wife despite their character flaws. It was one of the best stories I have ever read and it's just...gone. 😢😭😭😭😭😭

I did exclusively one-shots for a tiny fandom that kinda blew up long after I'd left it (the fandom I mean, my one-shots were just decently liked). It was all fluff. Pointless, filling in the blanks, make you feel all warm and cozy fluff. I stand by my contributions to this world.

Sorry, haven't really read much fanfiction, especially recently, so I wouldn't necessarily know. Why am I on this video..? Um. Honestly, I don't know. This has reinvoked a fear of revisiting my old Wattpad. Last time I checked, people were still reading my god forsaken, unfinished [Name] X Reader fics I wrote when I was 11. I shudder of the thought that people are still writing compliments in the comment section of those.

Lmaooo. I'd posted mine when "Creepypasta" was a category on that site ((don't actually know when that changed, haha)), and one of mine actually got into the higher ranks. I dont think any of mine were finished, and last I checked people were still commenting about the next chapter possibly coming out soon.
I haven't been back onto that site in a year, and that was only to pop in out of a morbid curiosity, lmao. I really hope people have stopped looking at them. I can't say it didn't help my writing skills develop, but damn was it cringe.

I've found and read so many good fanfics.
Some of them are still going, but most are abandoned.
I hate it when that happens. I found a brilliant Jacobi Master Doctor Who fic and the first four chapters are great then what do you know? Last Updated 2013.
This is why I either wait till I finish one or make sure I keep a general schedule when I publish mine.
LOL! I did this to readers. Left the platform with two unfinished WIPs and a promise to write a sequel to a completed fic.
**...five years later...**
Returned and finished both WIPs, more than halfway through the promised sequel, and writing another new WIP that’s in a new fandom. Had a bunch of readers shocked that I would return, after that long of a hiatus.
I’ve many good fanfic and then they are never finished 😭😭😭

The researcher one reminds me of me and my sibling writing fics... researching certain procedures and whether or not certain things happen when you get injured, they also did a whole big research deep dive on Stockholm syndrome and the emotional effects of abuse and kidnapping

My cycle of writing fanfic:
- Gains a idea.
- Pulls out my docs.
- Writes 100 words
- Looks at other authors.
- Loses confidence in my writing.
- Either give up or finish it.
- If I do finish it, it ends up being a crack piece, since I gave up taking it seriously halfway through.
Update: After two years and a longfic, I formally rescind this comment.

I’m the one that goes through it about two weeks later and laughs at it.
One shot master is me, I find a new obsession every few weeks (rarely lasts for a while but some do, like the one I have now thats lasted 2 months) and I feel like I would have a million unfinished fics if I did multi-chapter ones

When writing smut... I Just watch a romantic scene in a movie and write it Professionaly and then I make it vague so that my readers won't read the thing I call "Virgin Fantasy"

I started writing what might be my first serious actual fic that I’d consider posting and I realized I’d be the “torture your readers” person because I had an idea for a plot twist/change to canon that would potentially destroy me if I read it done well and probably would others too. That’s why I have ~ danger notes~ lmaoo it has a timer go off quick if you zone out or something. The words can come quickly and if you don’t keep writing it deletes the progress I just type a letter and keep it going
