this S Serve was banned in 80's after Sidek Brothers won Gold Medal in Thomas Cup. IBF said S Serve (Sidek Serve) will demolished the shuttlecock. but Misbun Sidek said that this Serve won't damaged the shuttlecock.
Sadly can't do anything when the IBF itself ban the serve. Well, it could be one-sided game if S Serve or Sidek Serve was allowed in any tournament.

This service known as the “S-Serve” or Sidek Serve.. it was invented by one of the Malaysian legendary badminton players, Misbun Sidek.. its was then banned by the IBF In 1982 as experts considered it to be violating the double contact rule (the serve was brushing both feathers and the base simultaneously)

The S serve , after the Sidek brothers , and started in the early 80's and banned in 1983
It is called "Servis Sidek" or "Servis S",which was banned by IBF in 1982 after Razif Sidek & Jalani Sidek of the Legendary Sidek brother won All England double,aged 18 & 19 respectively.
It came to attention earlier in 1981 but can't find majority of votes in the annual IBF meeting that year.
More players learned to use this technique at that time,but credit should have been given for the Sidek Brothers for inventing it at that time.

The serve is a legendary, though it be banned but the sidek's brothers still dominated the badminton arena with or without it. If the serve is not illegal i believe by now ppl might have created a technique to counter the serve.

Its the Sidek serve. They (the brothers) bring Malaysia to win All England because they dont have proper counter. Its banned after that and the reason is that "the technique will make the shuttle damaged" althought there is no evidence on that statement.Its banned just because there no counter for that particular type of serve.
Eventhough this serve was banned, but you need to credit to Sidek Brothers.
People didn't even bother to listen to them say they know it's not alegal serve, but just fun to mess around with. Then they complain in the comments. Lol

I chance upon this topic today. Please ask Mr. Misbun Sidek where he saw this service? Who he talks too at that time? Yes, the Sidek brothers were the first to use it Internationally in a tournament. It was not ban outright in March but later after the Thomas Cup held in the same year.

You can counter this serve by positioning yourself 1 small step further back and delay your shot. Delaying your shot will give the shuttle a little more time to fly as how it meant to. But after all that. Placing the shuttle will be around 30% chance of success

Maybe try to put the racket into a "deep serve" position to return it. Then it would be a much smoother return as well as having more oppurtunities to decide from.
