With all due respect. marineking was great back then. But if you follow sc2 matches just a bit you would know he looks like a low diamond player right now. And thats understandable as again this was back in 2012. But you cant type with a serious face that this looks like a high level in 2020 looking at what current terrans are capeable of. Especially as he was even smurfing in this vid reading the description.

Now i play LotV, but i know that a lot of past terran micro controls are borned from Marineking. Many past sc2 players must know this fact!
He contributes excitement and fun to the world. Imagine a world without it.
People cheer marineking on during his matches, in fact, they're very exciting to watch.
It's funny how the game evolved. Most of what was in the video is common among the top tier players today. (The last game is still sick as hell).
I do NOT want to diminish his skill, his control was and will always be amazing. I'm just saying that the standards for the pro-scene are incredible high right now. Just look at Byun's reaper control, herO's or MC's blink micro (back in the HotS days), sOs's oracle control (it's kinda hit or miss, either he's absolutely amazing and kills an entire mineral line, or he just loses the oracle on the spot. :D), etc.
We should be thankful for the amazing quality of sc2 games nowdays.

I don't know if it's me or I'm becoming a boomer, but I feel like older Starcraft players enjoyed playing this videogame more than nowdays. It was more epic in 2011-2013 I think.
The exact same thing that any athlete, actor, boxer, MMA fighter, singer, or artist provides. It's entertainment. It might not be your kind of entertainment, but that's what it is.
Back then when SC2 hasn't broken as joke right now and exciting. Good night sweet prince, you will be missed...

No what is obvious NOW was not bakc then, even along time into sc2 ppl didnt even split. You would laugh against terrans only relying on tank splash these days

It shows how well SC2 is balanced that this guy isn't the god of SC2 due to his micro alone. That kind of control in broodwar made somebody the top 10 player in the world.

League of Legends is a great game, as MKP would approve, but he is insane at sc2 as well.
linieblau Great is an overstatement, it's quite inconsistent really. Maybe if it had a 1v1 mode then it might be more interesting. Jungling is ok but really hard to carry in jungle and the concept is "don't die" instead of "kill them" as a result, sc2 is much more fun and LoL can be boring sometimes cuz have to play passive to play it right. In sc2 both ways can work and thank goodness we see the Koreans take the aggressive route in sc2.
That final one was a thing of true beauty.

For anyone watching this, the last video only works in Wings of Liberty. It won't work for Legacy of the Void because stalkers went from 14dmg to 18dmg per shot. His maruaders would have been killed earlier.

MKP has sick micro, for example look up the VOD/replay of Game 5 from Winter Arena 2012 vs DRG, amazing micro with SCVs and Marines.
They do a ton of damage... and require quite a bit of micro...
That IS the Terran race in a nutshell.
Ultras have a massive use in ZvT now, and still a fair portion in ZvP. They're great with Infestors.

There can be (and probably is) 100+ people called MarineKing. It just gives each player an individual code so they can be ID'd

The last part where he was fending off Protoss leaky attack... forget him being a gosu. That was just sad. I would have waited until I have them all assembled and launch pincer so that Terran couldn't have micro the way out.
well thts kinda smart but that wouldav given him enought time to get more marauders out and place defensive buildings to run around since he went three rax techlab and double reactors. marine and maruaders(concusive shells + stim) = win not to mention he had a 2 cc's and didnt even pull scvs you wouldave had to chase his forces to beat him in this game and zealots and stalkers r dead to tht army unless u have charge and blink + sentries to FF so terran cant kite so in the end he wouldav been able to stabalize and regroup if u pulled back. imagine trying to barrel up that ramp with tht much space warping in to many zealots might not have been a good idea if the his troops held position on ramp the rines and marauders can do more damage on high ground while zealots get less surface area for surround and evn if you have enough stalkers concusive shells + stim can really help kite against the zealots. there were sufficient enough marauders to kill the stalkers. not to mention marineking is the king of micro soz :3

When it comes to contributing to society, what do you think the entertainment business do? Humans don't require it to live, but it increases joy. Why would anybody work if they don't get anything back for it? If you want something that "contributes to society" as you put it, when we get back from work/studies etc stuff you probaly refer to, having some time off, enjoying watching something or having a hobby etc boosts our productivity for the next day. Nobody survives without some form of joy.

The Rally point got a hotkey (Here it is "Y" ) if you double press it or Press ESC after it gets "deleted".
Don't know exactly how he did it, but I know you can do it by targetting the building and then right clicking on the building. That only works if you only target 1 building though, so I don't know how he did it.
Hard to believe MKP would make that kind of mistake.
Jokes on you seeing how HotS turned out to be way more fast pased and way more micro intense than wings ever was :D
the other did an early 4gate (for having 2 bases) which is a buildorder win against the 3 orbitals of mkp. This was no 1 base 4 gate.
I would also argue that Firebats were more pesky than Hellions. The thing is though, sure they're damn good against lings and other light units (marines) with good micro but they are the only way Terran players can acquire map control early game. Plus, without them at their current cost it will make it even more difficult to hold early all-ins, especially against a Zerg.
He could make 10x more money than I do and I would still feel like a better person actually contributing to society instead of being an internet hero.
What does he contribute to the world that we couldn't easily live without?
