- In this video, we compare the performance of Counter-Strike 2 (CSGO2) on different RAM configurations, including 2GB, 4GB, 8GB, and 16GB. We'll also test the game on a 32GB RAM setup to see if it makes any difference. Find out which RAM configuration is optimal for playing CSGO2 and how much of a performance boost you can expect with higher RAM capacity.

I started with 16GBs on an AMD 4C/4T APU in 2018. My wife bought me some of those nice gskillz 32GB sets with really tight timings in 2019, beats most DDR5 sticks available right now. Added a second set in 2022 for 64GBs and bumped up my system to a 16C/32T. Currently, I find myself running 2 to 3 4k monitors with 200+ chrome tabs and a couple different CAD programs. I have been reaching into 40GBs. It's nice to stop working and switch to a game while I leave everything open in the background. I could easily see getting into 128GB with a VR headset.

The 2GB to 4GB being a huge jump is not surprising considering 2GB RAM is the minimum requirements for Windows 10 (and the system itself usually uses up more) the game itself fights the system for any available RAM and the result is horrible performance. It would be curious to see how CSGO would play on a Linux system with 2GB of RAM, given that most Linux distros at idle use up 1GB at most (and this can be way less) leaving the rest for the game. I might about do such an experiment because I have a computer with Linux and a 2GB stick laying around :)
Please do
Windows, browser, discord, and steam takes almost 10GB of ram on my machine.
@@yaboygoodvibes1397 I tested a similar configuration of Linux, browser, discord and steam and got a 2,7GB of RAM usage, and I'm not even using a particularly lightweight distribution as I'm testing on Mint with XFCE and the browser is Firefox. @@10percent4DaBigGuy What on earth did you to do your PC that on idle it uses up so much memory? @@xenon2848 And more info about cpu, gpu, memory speed etc... It's also matter
You wouldn't gain fps from 8gb to 16gb. If the ram speed is the same on all the sticks you compared then the only factor in performance should be using more than 100% of your ram since that makes your pc use your drive as extra ram thus making performance much worse. Since CS 2 shouldn't make your ram usage anywhere near 100% on 8gb ram you shouldn't be able to see performance increasing when using higher amounts of ram than 8 gb, assuming the ram latency is the same on the 8gbs and 16gbs ram.
If you use integrated graphics, you should be getting more performance. At 8gb, the system effectively has around 6gb ram and 2gb "vram" - the ram that is allocated to the igpu.
At 16gb, the system will get a whole 12gb ram, and a decent 4gb of "vram".

Should I upgrade my ram to 16 gb?
Okay, i would be the better guy to go to, bc i just got something like that. Its a 1050 4gb i7 7700HQ 2.8ghz and 16gb of ram. If you have an ssd 8gb would be a bare minimum, running off of an hdd 16gb really helps and if you can pay it up its definitely worth it in the long run, depending on your games, if you have 2 slots, me personally I would put a 16gb in one and an 8 gb in the other for 24gb. Bc in the long run i can buy one 16gb stick and save a little bit of money short term. My idea WILL HINDER PERFORMANCE INTENSILY. But 16GB is worth it

Before anyone laughs i got the card for free basically in a trade of sorts. Regardless I didn't pay $500 or anything like that. I plan on upgrading the board and chip to 7th gen soon but in the meantime I'm running it the way I said. I do have 32gb 3200 ddr4 ram and a 2tb Samsung 990 pro. So really just the CPU is my issue. Anyways I'm working 60+ hours overnight so I haven't played since I got the card. Any idea what I can expect with that great GPU and the other specs I gave??
When I look at benchmarks it seems the 2600x has held up really well. It's like 30% behind the ryzen 7 5800x which surprises me. 30% is a lot, but that's another $400 if I include the new motherboard and ram I'll need with that CPU upgrade. I'd like to think I could use this 2600x for a bit. I'd buy a used 8 core 3800x for $100 but it's only like %10-14%
