Serious Question: An-Nisa /1: O men! Fear your Lord Who created you from a single being and out of it created its mate; and out of the two spread many men and women.1 Fear Allah in Whose name you plead for rights, and heed the ties of kinship. Surely, Allah is ever watchful over you.
      Tafheem-ul-Quran - Abul Ala Maududi /
This is saying CREATED YOU FROM A SINGLE BEING (some say single being, some say person, soul, living being ....) Well I wonder what is the exact word for it and the meaning of it? And if it can be say a single being, is it too much the describe this being as a Single-Celled Creatures?? And we also know that single celled creatures in time divide(dont know how to sat it??) to
multicellular organisms as described in the surah An-Nisa ?? So Quran may suggest evolution ????

Allah is 1 & made us needy pairs! (Quran 112 :1 & 36 :36). Re: life tree evolution.
      1. how did asexual become sexual if there isn't a Creator God? &
      2. even before how did no 1 cell organism become dual celled? (no mechanism!)
      3. Why's Dna & Rna co-op languages if no distinct Creator? this evolution is false!
      bonus :
      4. Why are quarks made in pairs...
      5. why is matter made in pairs (anti matter)
these are the questions that prove life or the universe doesn't make itself up or from tree of life evolution, but intelligence creates separate parts for life,
there are 3 types of evolution, with ambiguous terms deception is pushed, only 2 are science. micro evolution like change w/ no genetic structural change is ok, like a red haired person kid being blond. macro is ok like dogs interbreeding, but tree of life evolution, all life is from 1 cell, is fake & is where the main conflict comes from!
      Beliefs of Atheist:
      • Nothing produces everything.
      • Non-life produces life.
      • Randomness produces fine-tuning.
      • Chaos produces information.
      • Unconsciousness produces consciousness.
      • Non-reason produces reason.
Many scientists are funded to lie like monsanto so we have to look at the clear science evidences! funding scientists to hide this and push atheism & evolution for agendas like colonies or insecure material tribal marxism to fill the moral vacuum with tyranny won't change clear facts of a Creator Who will judge us.
and He sent Prophets peace and blessings on them to guide and civilize man as atheists built no civilizations and Islam is the preserved faith all other point to. Humanity and science in whole prove God is 1 & Islam a true balance despite any person's flaws! Read Quran and pray Allah guides you. Listen to Khutbah Hajjah

in Islam humans are only with humans as Surah Rum says and he mixed in micro and macro evolution with tree of life evolution. I hope he didn't error on Islam compromising it with his error in science, Islam comes first, in this case Subuur was right in his approach but clearly invetigatively at a base science level I presented the answers, evolution with regards to tree of life is wrong!

Too many straw man arguments. First of all, the title of the video is meaningless.
When it comes to evolution, there's no "belief" involved. It is a model that describes empirical facts/observations. You can either accept the model or reject the model. If you can gather more data, the model may need to be revised to reflect new observations.
To say "I believe in evolution" or "I don't believe in evolution" is to make science into theology. Science is not about beliefs, it's about hard data and inferences made from that data.
I think it's a bit pointless for us Muslims (alhamdulillah I am muslim even though my youtube name is Joe Bloggs, just for anonymity) to discuss this topic on the basis of belief/lack of belief.
Also, it's pointless and a waste of time to dismiss the theory of evolution from theology alone. The only scientifically credible way to dismiss the theory of evolution is to offer an alternative model to evolution that can explain all observed and logically inferred hard facts with regards to evolution. A model that can explains the fossils, genetics, anatomy etc. A model that can be tested, used to make predictions and that can be falsified. Only then, will we Muslim make any inroads into defeating the current model.
I don't "believe" in evolution as an article of faith or as the absolute truth, but I accept that the current model as the best explanation of observed facts but as Muslims, we need to do our research and find an alternative model.
Unfortunately, this is very difficult at the moment due to immense lack of investment into scientific research from Muslim countries - most are too poor and have other pressing issues, some are too corrupt, and the ones that are rich (i.e. gulf), can't be bothered and don't have the free and open society that allows for free thinking. It is a very tough situation to get out of.
What's more, we have scholars and preachers who are not really trained in the natural sciences, they speak freely on this matter and throw Muslim scientists out of the fold of Islam who accept evolution -- all based on THEIR interpretation of the primary Islamic sources. This is dangerous. If scholars and preachers haven't studied biology at an academic level, they are not qualified to speak with authority on this matter -- they should just say " I don't know" .

If everybody could think like you... There would be no issue among atheists and muslims vis-a-vis evolution if muslims could acquiesce that you don't "believe in" evolution, or general relativity, or germ theory, or quantum physics. These are models of reality that emerge from the conscensus of unfathomable amounts of data and built on mountains of stress tested & confirmed hypotheses.
If alternate models to established ones were put forward that have equivalent explanative and predictive power like string theory or multiverse theory, and similar theories came forward from the muslim world, than that would be a legitimate, candidates to scientific theories. However, unless these models have no empirical inconsistencies, and demonstrate to be consistent with objective, empirical evidence, than they remain cute candidates for theories but remain just that: candidates. Which is why string theory and multi-verse theory remain candidates.

“Only than, will we muslims make any inroads into defeating the current model.”
Why would muslims want to “defeat the current model?” Why not accept it for what it is. The theory of evolution which is a explanation of the evidences at hand is not and was not compiled to defeat any faith. Rather it is an explanation of evidences without any constraints and hindrances forced upon it by the yoke of religion. It’s biggest strong point is that it was and is compiled using our physical sensory abilities and does not rely on subjective claims etc.. It inadvertently negated religious theories of Adam and Eve etc...
Muslims should join and engage with the mainstream scientific community but without the presuppositional belief of “Allah exists we know it and you don’t.”
A scientific theory is not a belief which one can casually “believe” in or not. That outlook will degrade a theory to the realm of religion and superstition. Rather a scientific theory is an explanation of an aspect of the natural world that can be tested using observations etc...

  • @Sixtra

I would say please read up on evolution in detail, and then definitely reject it if truely doesn't work for you. For example how neantherthals' physique evolved around survival in extreme conditions and how homosapiens have a bigger cranial cavity because of relatively easier survival leading to more brain activity.

Once again, the creationist doctrines fail to satisfactorily address why a divine creator will firstly bother to create millions of species and then allow them to perish. The Darwinian explanation for extinct life is once again simple, elegant and at once convincing-organisms go extinct as a function of environmental or biological assaults for which their inheritance deems them ill-equipped.Therefore, the so-called Darwinian theory of evolution is not a theory at all. Evolution happens-this is a fact. The mechanism of evolution (Darwin proposed natural selection) is amply supported by scientific data. Indeed, to date no single zoological, botanical, geological, paleontological, genetic or physical evidence has refuted either of the central two main Darwinian ideas. If religion is not taken into consideration.Darwinian laws are acceptable just like laws proppsed by Copernicus , Newtow, Einstein etc- sets of natural laws that explain natural phenomena in the universe.

No, it's just that you don't know what the big bang theory entails.
It's a common misconception but it doesn't actually address the origins of the universe. It doesn't address the origins of space, matter or time either.
It explains the expansion of the universe from a position of all fundamental particles being condensed into a tiny little hot dense state ready to rapidly expand into a cooler and sparse state. That's literally all it describes.
The energy required was already there before the actual expansion. No one knows yet where the energy came from but if the 1st Law of Thermodynamics is anything to go by it means that energy can't be created or destroyed, it can only be transferred from one state to another, it is probable that the energy was always there in some state.
It's also because time slows down in states of super massive gravity and during the initial stages of the Big Bang that is so much super massive gravity that one second can equal infinity. Combine this with the fact that even empty space still contains energy, both positive and negative, you are talking about the possibilities of infinite time scales.
Hence the reason why most cosmologists believe the universe is eternal and had no beginning.

Also to the people who say that Evolution is just a theory. If Evolution was titled an hypothesis, then sure have your doubts about it . However, since is called a theory and not an hypothesis, that means that it has an overwhelming amount of scientific data and evidence to support it. It means that it has been reviewed by scientific peers. Anyone who disagrees with Evolution, I encourage you to look at Neanderthal skulls or Homo Habilis skulls or even all of the other species that had a common ancestor with apes. Many things are different compared to other bibles. However the Quran was written after the Bible and the Torah. The text within it are based upon the myths of the Bible and the Torah. The steady state theory was a hypothesis and I agree that most scientists thought it was probably true back in the day. That was because they didn't have evidence it wasn't. By Occam's razor it seemed reasonable to not posit any other hypotheses but I emphasize that it was a hypothesis, which of courae needed testing to approach confirmation. I disagree that -- as your distinguished speaker said -- any scientists believed it with anything close to "absolute certainty" -- though you can't rule out people who are so invested in an idea they can't recognize a contradiction when it comes along. Most adopted it cautiously as the best first approximation given the information they had. Then along comes Edwin Hubble who showed that the universe was expanding using red shifts of spectra from distant objects. This of course blew steady state out of the water and led to the hypothesis of the big bang where the universe has a beginning. The evidence there is the calculation we make from running the expansion backwards. We think it's true because we don't have any more information that would explain an expanding universe that didn't start at some time in the past. My point being: Science is NOT a bunch of unchanging claims and fancy equations. As your speaker pointed out, it constantly checks itself and changes as evidence comes in. I respect people of faith including my Islamic friends but I do not see in faith the same self-correcting mechanism. Evolution is currently the prevailing dogma in biology but it could certainly be adapted or even rejected if new evidence contradicts it. That seems as unlikely at this point that we would change our understanding of F=ma. The evidence is quite strong and there aren't any biologists I know (and I know a few including some Muslims) who think that is likely to happen.
I am not a Muslim but I really enjoyed your discussion which was at a rational level far above the attacks I see on evolution in the non-Muslim faith community. Assalamu Aleikum.

Specifically verses related to cosmology/origins. For example, Sura Fussilat (41) Verses 10,11,12 - Function of stars - that they are a decoration & serve as missiles for shayateen. Earth created first in 2 days + 4 days for its sustenance, then the heavens in 2 days.
Sura Kahf (18) Verses 86,90 - Sun setting & rising at specific points on the Earth.
Sura Taariq (86) Verses 5,6,7 - Semen originating from between the backbone & the ribs.
Sura Nisaa (4) Verse 11 - Inheritance fractions do not add up to a whole number, i.e 1.

Also of course the whole Adam/Eve narrative Vs evolution. DNA provides solid evidence in support of evolution by natural selection. Adam/Eve are fictional characters. Add to that the fact that no human has ever been known to live for 200 years let alone 950 (Nuh's age in the Qur'an). Fossils can be studied/analyzed quite accurately for age at time of death & none with such human lifespans have ever been found. Human lifespans, if anything, are on the rise, primarily due to advancements in healthcare. Essentially proofs that the Qur'an is man made.

The heard of goats will be pruned daily by the cheetas, with the more agile, faster goats, surviving more chases, and goats that vocalize warnings between themselves if they spot predators and then hide may stall predators and live to see another day. If herds of the fastest goats reproduce, and herds of vocalizing + hiding goats reproduce, after 500 years of natural selection (30 generations), the herd of quick goats will be anatomically very different from the vocalizing+hiding goats. Much in the same way that 30 generations of selective breeding of a mutt can lead to grayhound proportions or mastiff proportions from the same common ancestors. Eventually genetic drift becomes so high that 2 divergent population systems from the same initial herd can no longer reproduce. Overall I thought this was a thoughtful discussion but religious people in general (Christians, Muslims, etc) are really quick to throughout this vague notion that there is significant disagreement among academics about the reality of evolution without providing any support for this claim. There will always be fringe thinkers and apologists who are willing to claim things that run counter to the evidence but that doesn't mean their ideas have any significant backing in the scientific community. Lots of religious people are trying to deny evolution the way we know it because it may enter in conflict with their faith, but what they don't understand is that prooving or disprooving evolution doesn't change the fact that we already have enough evidence to be sure that creationism is wrong.

It’s just that white gene was dominant and black was recessive . Now when you have children, it can be that you pass them black skin gene and that gene becomes dominant in their body. So you can be a white guy with dark skinned child. More over as the population increase there are mutations that give new characteristics

This guy says that he knows for a fact that the Quran is God’s word and it’s all truth… nobody knows that for sure, least of all this guy. It’s something that can’t be known.
He then goes on talking about the “static state” theory, which doesn’t even exist because it was called “steady state” (he doesn’t even know what’s it called… wonder how well he knows it…)
He then talks about the Big Bang as a theory about the universe having a beginning… the Big Bang doesn’t actually talk about any beginning… just demonstrates that the observable universe was once much smaller, hotter and denser… that is not necessarily a beginning, it was just a different state in which the universe was. And there was no explosion…
He then says that evolution is not a sure thing… mistake again… evolution is really quite true… there are specifics that are still disputed, but the general principle that life forms evolve and that billions of years ago there were just simple life forms and these evolved gradually to reach the complex biodiversity we see today is more than proven.

people always tend to forget natural phenomena are looked at through the lens of philosophical naturalism. As a Muslim, you can't be a philosophical naturalist. we believe in the supernatural. the matter is not the ultimate reality. matter has no power on its own. we believe in the miraculous creation of the isa. we believe the dead birds of Abraham come flying to them. we believe in the unseen.
The most critical mistake Muslims make is to adopt the worldview of materialism and use it as "furkan" criteria.
materialism is wrong. it doesn't work. just look at the consciousness. it doesn't work.
and even if you accept materialism. which model is the fact? bush of life? tree of life? which one?
which mechanism is the proven fact? there are alternative models and suggestions even in the communities of materialsts.
how can you say this is fact while there are multiple models and drawings to explain the same data?
there are mathematical problems. but dogmatic materialstics ignore it because one way or the other way matter has to organize itself to build up right? That is a fact, right?
it only follows if you blindly believe in philosophical naturalism.

Science is exactly what Quran says.. We are supposed to research and explore the world.. When we are finding new things we may or may find the truth.. And this knowledge keeps changing.. Like science has uncountable laws and theories conflicting even with eachother.. So scince is just a changing process by which we are trying to find the truth and no data is certain or fixed in it.. While Quran is truth.. It is fixed bcz its revealing of truth, before time, From the creator(all knowing) to his creatures(trying to gain knowledge)..
