Timberland hiking boots, fell apart after getting wet 😖 never purchased that brand again.

I had an REI dry bag fail while kayaking and my camera got wet, luckily my camera wasn’t ruined.

I have given up on Gore Tex hiking shoes. The membrane ends up wearing out long before the shoes. My feet end up getting wet and now it takes longer to dry out because of the Gore Tex lining. I just wear non-waterproof hiking shoes and let my feet get wet. At least they will dry out faster.

Good information and I hope the manufacturers get your comments to improve their products.

I bought a Solo Stove and had the same experience as you. I backpack quite a bit in Southern California and basically can't use it anywhere (same with alcohol stoves). While I liked it the one time I used it, the ability to adjust the temperature, not worry about waste, finding fuel, starting a fire etc, make using the isobutane stoves much easier.

I have a little Solo Stove brand twig stove. I think it's great. It combusts fuel very well. I've used it in the rain with wet twigs and was able to cook on it. It's also handy as a little creature comfort camp fire when I don't feel like buying or looking for large quantities of firewood. Even in campgrounds where you are not supposed to collect firewood there is usually enough little stuff on the ground to burn, or you can split one piece of firewood and have it last all night. The reason I don't use it much is fire bans that are practically constant in the Western states and the soot that gets caked onto the cookware.

Thanks for sharing that. As a west coaster I agree on the latter too. Creature comfort for sure :) great for a car camp out

Stoves - you can get a BRS or Soto really cheaply and everything (including the gas canister) will all fit in a 750ml pot.

Yes!!!! I so agree I have something similar now and it’s so much more compact

Add the Canon 6D Mark ii to the list. Thankfully I'm in the Amazon "return window." And the lens too. iPhone 15 Pro(Max) has awesome capabilities and much faster (USB-C 3.) data transfer rates that make these Canon cameras irrelevant.

Thank you for your honest gear review! I have an older GoPro and want to upgrade but it’s hard to replace it when it still works 😂 plus I have all the accessories etc. I’ve heard other creators say the same about the Insta360.

I have to stand behind GoPro I’ve got at least 6 and they get better every time. The batteries don’t last but at least the footage looks good.

It is always good to know from experience when products are not as efficient as manufacturers claim them to be.
Advertising and marketing are made to believe.
With the outdoors, a rule of thumb applies to be compact, lightweight, and sturdy.
It goes with the territory, depending on where you are and your purpose for being there.
This is what I really like about REI, although they are not manufacturers, they will give out new products so outdoorsy people use them and report back on flaws to be corrected and improvements to be made. The same goes with MEC in Canada, which is the north-of-the-border version of an REI. I am not sure they still do this nowadays; all became so corporate with deciders who have never been outdoors. My two cents.

I go through alot of flipflops because they get stuck in the muck underwater, and then the toe strap pulls loose. I often wonder where all the shoes came from that float up on the beach! @@AliceFordAdventures
