Goonies never say die!
He deserved it! He said in an interview that he waited 25 years for another role in Hollywood. And here he is holding an Oscar.
So how did he deserve it seeing he hasn't developed his craft in the past decades? Unlike Brendan Gleeson for example
Ryan lex, i hope you’re joking.
hopefully not the last. if anyone, he deserved it all
@@westerling8436 You can develop your skill even without landing roles. 🤨 You just stay active. I'm sorry your brain is so small that you can't figure that out. OR you're just a troll. And everybody feels bad for the loneliness of trolls. But seriously. Also, _some_ people can just have a *natural* talent! Look at Johnny Depp; he hadn't acted a DAY in his life when he was picked up & thrown into the industry and NEVER practiced outside of a set. So.
Think a little, okay?
He can deserve it because of _his performance_ in the body of work that he _JUST PERFORMED_ in. People's eyes work ToDaY; they don't need a 3 decade resume. I mean, that's like saying first-time first-feature actors who have deservingly won an Oscar and went on to be continually Great didn't deserve it when they won it after only the one film! Deserved is derserved. (When it's true.)
Plus, he didn't just sit there; he was a stunt choreographer on films within the industry throughout the years and did his best to try to stay connected. His ETHNICITY *_did_* affect the roles people would [or wouldn't] give him. Perhaps you don't understand that. And why they're celebrating so much. He wanted this. He wanted more. He wanted a chance. Ke's speech is the punchline of the entire show, there were lot of positive vibrations, unlike last year's Will Smith despicable act. Happy for Ke, this man didn't forget where he came from, he didn't hide his identity, he remembered what his mom sacrificed for him...well deserved award. Your story is inspirational to many people. The young generation should remember this, life is full of struggles, got to work hard to achieve your dream, dream doesn't fall from the sky, it doesn't happen when you seat at home playing video games or get obssed by social media all day long. The realist person to win a Oscar. Congratulations Ke!!
I love how humble he was and gave credit to everyone that helped him along the way. At the end of the day, no matter how old you are, you always want to show and express to your mom (and/or dad) that big achievement in your life and by doing so, you act like a kid again. This guy is great.
"Gave credit to everyone that helped him along the way" would've been so much more meaningful had he -- or asians and latinos -- hinted at, even in the faintest or indirect way -- hollywood's racist 'whites only' barrier that was broken or perhaps shattered by risk taking and courageous African American artists who not only demonstrated courage and tenacity for themselves but who also helped pave the way for other (P0C) film actors in hollywood today..

Thanks for the love ❤
He’s always genuine, not afraid to be humble and to cry.
So happy to see him win, so deserved and shame on Hollywood for not giving him more roles
I’ve been saying for years he steals everything he’s in
There aren't that many nerd roles.
@@honkymonkey9568 What have you accomplished with this comment?
Asians in general have long struggled to break into Hollywood or get roles beyond extras and small, stereotype roles. I wont try to speculate as to why but it seems pretty clear that the struggle is real.
@@bendoan98 He's a character actor. There's nothing wrong with it. Woody Allen was such an actor who played nerdy roles and it served him well. What's your problem? and what have YOU accomplished?
most beautiful oscar acceptance speech of all time ..... congratulations Ke.... so proud that you're an American
This is probably the best speech I've ever heard here.
Ke Huy Quan rose like a phoenix to dazzle us all, and his return has been mythologically spectacular. His sincerity always brings tears to my eyes.
I actually met him in person at a small comic con convention in Wrexham a few years ago, literally just walked right up to his signing table, chatted about Indiana Jones, had a selfie and autograph from him as well, he was so gentle and humble, now he's a friggin' OSCAR WINNING ACTOR!!
Oh?! In Wales?? Lovely country!!
This is one of the most humble, innocent, pure and wholesome acceptance speeches ever. So lovely to see such down-to-earth people win such special awards like this. Very well deserved.
