An Enigmatic Morning Walk in the COTSWOLD village of Idbury

- So, today we are out and about walking in the Cotswold village and civil parish of Idbury. The village is located in the county of Oxfordshire, England. Idbury is approximately 4.5 miles (7 km) southeast of Stow-on-the-Wold which is in the county of Gloucestershire. The parish also includes the hamlets of Bould & Foscot. At the time of the 2011 census the total population stood at 240.
The village church is dedicated to St Nicholas and is of Church of England denomination. It was originally built in the Norman era but very little remains of the building from then except for the north doorway. The church is Grade I listed.
It is fair to say that this walk may be my favourite so far. In the opening scene I was totally mesmerised by the dawn sky with the crisscrossing of jet trails with an accompanying soundtrack of beautiful birdsong, hence why I found it difficult to pull myself away from this scene which resulted in the longest intro so far on the channel! Idbury is a charming little village with an air of mystery & intrigue about it.

We finally in my area of the States have a few days of sunshine after weeks of rain & some snow & I must admitt, I am so happy. My walks are lovely but not quite as lovely as yours. Wonderful sunrise! I felt myself quite transfixed by it as well! I love pink contrails - it's rare that you see them in central London, so quite a treat. Thank you for a few moments of escape from my "prison city!" ☺

If a scene can be termed “breathtaking” when being viewed through a phone screen, that opening view qualified. If the entire walk had only been watching that sunrise, I would have been content to just watch that (though the rest of the walk was excellent, too)- and if I had been there in person, I definitely would have found a tree stump or a fence rail to sit on while I sat there savoring the quiet beauty of the dawn. The walk through the town was charming, and that one tombstone in the churchyard was a really unique shape; it would be interesting to hear the story behind that design. Thank you for another nice walk.

Great opening sky with wonderful bird sounds which continued throughout. Seemed a bit slower paced this time. Another nice old church set against that beautiful sky. Good to see some early signs of spring in the flowers. Thanks!

The early morning landscape with the birds and the gorgeous sky, in the first 2 minutes of the video... I could see myself sitting there, painting the sky and contemplate life for hours! It is such a serene atmosphere. Absolutely wonderful.
There is one part of the video I had to skip. This is a personal flaw, not a criticism: I always skip the cemetery parts of the videos because they creep me out, 😟and in this one it lasted a few minutes. Other than that, it was a very enjoyable walk. 🙂
Good evening, Eva. Thanks ever so much for your comment. I completely understand as a walk through a churchyard is not for everyone. In future what I shall do is this...I will add a time stamp into the description, which will correlate to leaving a churchyard, so that way you will have prescion control over when to start watching again, all you have to do is just jump to that timestamp when you see a church entrance / gate getting closer beforehand. Cemeteries are a personal trauma for me, because I lost my dad when i was young. Since then, every cemetery reminds me of that time. It is quite a long time ago now, but I still have that issue and I don`t think it will ever go away. So yes, i will love that timestamp very much. Thank you, you`re the best ! 🙂
@Eva.Karinae Absolutely I will do that for you. I'm really sorry to hear that. I too lost my dad when I was young which was a very-very long time ago now but even now after all the many decades that have passed, I still miss him terribly 😢😞.

I don't know, Sir🕶️, l think you were actually awaiting the hired sky-writer to smoke out 🚶. The pollarding is in full swing, I've been definitely noticing fresh cuts on certain trees the past couple of walks. Aye, here too the birds and squirrels are rousting and verbalizing more, MissySpring be near? I had the very same reaction when you stepped behind the church, bless you for filling the curiosity, interesting monument that. The sanctuary windows are unique, very appealing. Mr🚶eluded me too on 1st lap because like you l was scrutinizing the trees for bud sign. But, muddy MrSneaky was finally found 5-ticks in on a container kinda in the tire splash zone. Doggone, Sir🕶️, each new village we visit is so different from all the rest. How do you do that!?!
