    Nothing is more satisfying than making connections on low power, indoors. Great video, because it shows what is capable. I use the tune option in the Vara modem window, under settings, soundcard.

    Great video. Am confused that some videos on VARA ham show 857D in USB mode on 20m and yours shows it in DIG mode? Can you clarify

      Hi Dennis, thank you. The radio in the video is an ft-818. It does however operate just like the ft-857d. DIG mode switches the radio to accept audio input from the rear 6 pin mini din connector. Is is possible others have their audio interface connected via the mic input,in which case you would then use USB.
