You are about to go down the rabbit hole of the 817/818 add on 's have fun love mine
I am loving my 818, I have the polish board for the CW filter coming, an will do the MARS mod while I have it opened for that install. If I find a CW filter in it, I will have one for sale. Probably the one in it as the originals go for over twice the cost of the current supply systems solution. I did 10M QRP to South Dakota from here in So OR with the CB whip on my jeep, and the sound quality of the TX was amazing. I am just getting up to speed with it.

Rather operate on the beach, VK3YE does that from the beach in Australia to the USA with a FT-817ND.
Sorry for being off topic with the 818 mars cap mods ,but the ICOM 7100 is easily modified for both open frequency ranges and xmitting output to well over 100 Watts .
As I understand it,the information in the uk was,production of the 7100 was stopped due to the chip shortage and there was a big outcry,so when they got the chips they restarted production 😊
There's a software od called softjump maybe that might help with the mod.
bought a new one last week from Nevada radio in England and it arrived in about 5 days to Wisconsin
Got it man it's a great little radio the only thing I don't like about it that the g 90 has built-in tuner 😭
