    Toyota made some pretty unexpected changes to their iconic sports car for 2021. In addition to more power for the Supra 3.0, a new 4-cylinder turbo Supra 2.0 makes it debut. Today, we look at all the differences between the 4-cylinder and 6-cylinder models.

      Especially when this shouldn’t have been the “first” year release of the car. Instead of building upon the legacy and design of the Supra. instead, they essentially recycled the name to make sales on a sports car that is NOT a Supra.

    • @NEMotoGuy
      @NEMotoGuy Před 4 lety +10

      @@tonyc6996 With this logic, you will never buy any vehicle. There will always be a newer model with better upgrades, etc...I bought mine last July. I have been enjoying the heck out of my Supra for months, while everyone is still waiting for the 2021 to come out later this year. I have not seen a downside to getting the first gen. The car is plenty fast, and pricing was fine, if you know how to negotiate. We don't know pricing on the 2021 models yet. So if it's a few grand more than the 2020 listed for last year, I would say the 2020 was a much better deal since the performance upgrades can be done to the 2020 for minimal cost. To each there own though.

      I mean it is only fair that if you pay $15k-$20k more for a car it is know. You are buying these cars to show off. Not everyone is racing these cars, so what differentiates it on basic road driving, it would be the looks and the sounds.

      @@BrutalFates so the 2020 3.0 MSRP started at 50000. 2021 3.0 model should be more or less the same. and estimated 2.0 model to be 10k cheaper. For 10k you get 2 more cyclinder, different exhaust, bigger wheels, better brakes, better suspension etc. Unless they charge the 3.0 more, I don't think they can justify the extra work to develop extra "look" on the exterior

    I think he wanted to highlight how fast it shifts gears.

    Toyota/BMW did a great job with the 2.0
    You aren't giving up much (besides the power)

    Something tells me that the 2020 Supra was already making close to the 2021's 382hp, just unofficially. Anyone else spot the Blue Type-R? And I heard those exhaust baffles when downshifting 3 to 2 at 11:22 and 11:41. Interesting.

    Recently I saw a Japanese touge run/review of the classic vs new NSX and it reminded me the the mk4 and mk5 Supra. The Japanese drivers basically said the new NSX was created with US market in mind and has deviated from the Japanese heritage and I believe this mk5 suffers the same fundamental problem. It’s a wonderful sports car but it’s not a Supra.

      I disagree. I think Acura saw how successful the GT-R was after it was brought back as a Supercar and tried to do the same thing.
      Toyota hit home closer with the MK5.
      It's got a I6, it's modular, and it's similar price as the original.
      I think if people got over the BMW thing it's not a bad car by anymeans.
      I think the LC 500 is more of the true modern Supra and they should of just made a poor man's varianr as the MK5.

    I love these BMW's, I 'er mean, Toyota's! I would want the six cylinder if I was buying it though, it sounds great and I'm sure it performs very well too! :-)

    Can you compare the Ecoboost mustang vs the Supra 2.0? sounds like an even challenge

    • @Drewhasit
      @Drewhasit Před 4 lety +1

      srxshadow if anything i think it would need to be compared to the beefed up HPP Ecoboost, rather than your regular EB which is about 20k less. Actually sounds like a a lot of car for the money now when you compare them 🤔 tho most would still say “ bUt iT dOeSnT hAvE a V8”. I think it would be an interesting comparison

      Really hoping the price of the 2.0 is comparable to a well equiped Ecoboost. Wouldn't make much sense otherwise considering everything they stripped off the 3.0 Supra
