Although your essay is great, I felt compelled to just comment something as an adopted Asian. No, Asians are not "naturally" smarter, but we don't purposely segregate our knowledge or anything puposterous like that. In fact, I would argue that WEALTH can segregate knowledge. Anyone can walk or got to their school library, or Google/research on a smart device. However, not everyone can afford top tier tutors, trips to museums or foreign countries, or even be surrounded by literature as a child.
The reason we have accumulated that stereotype is because a majority of Asian parents instill the notion that education is everything and if you don't get the best grades, you have failed the people who have granted you the opportunity to go to school. I know plenty of Asians who have had to work their way to gain knowledge and stellar grades, not because it's sectionalized. I'm sorry, I just wanted to curb that stereotype, it's always irked me.

i don’t believe asian students are naturally smarter either and also think classism is a large contributor to the knowledge gap. i understand the idea comes from a combination of the harmful model minority stereotype, strict and selective immigration policies, and other racist things america has done. the quotes in my essay about that were made by my asian peers in my high school. sorry for the misunderstanding!

@@happiejordan That I understood. I just wanted to clarify that wealth and how a student is brought up makes more of a difference than the classroom environment. My highschool was comprised of a majority of immigrants and those who mainly rely on federal funds and financial aid. A majority of the teachers did not care for students and our ranking was terrible in the county. However, despite the classroom hurdles, the kids wealthy enough to have their own tutoring and have parents who had connection were able to overcome the gap despite the terrible teachers, nonexistent help, and educational neglect. That's what I was trying to point out.
