Finding the right exhaust for my G80 M3 was an interesting one. I had the opportunity to hear many different setups and be able to test a few products early before the general market did. What I can honestly say, do not buy my exhaust setup if you are not willing to deal with some interesting challenges. I explain fully in this video.

The reason why I made this video, is that I get questions about my exhaust setup and I want people to know that it won't be a direct fit. You will need to get it modified / custom fitted that some people may not want to spend the money one. I honestly think this is one of the best sounding exhaust setups out there. It has a deep low end tone and a smoother S58 high end tone.

I paired up the AA equal length mid with the stock axle back as you had done previously. It works and I like it adding a modest aggressive tone, highlights the OEM burbles and still doesn't blow out the neighbors. It is clear you are not driving a stock 3 series for sure. Will likely add a compatible axle-back to the AA mid, but still shopping for a sound I like. Thanks for sharing your experience and can't wait to see the exhaust comparison video you mentioned.
Thank you Kirk for chiming in! Appreciate you checking out the videos. The active equal length midpipe with the stock axle-back does sound pretty good. You are definitely doing it right instead of jumping right into an axle-back with that combination. Take your time. And hopefully the next video with exhaust content helps out.
Great video Bro! Yea, all i have on my g80 is the dahler valve controller and a Dinan mid pipe. It sounds great but it does need to be a tiny bit louder 😂.

I paired the Gen2 Switchpath + AA EL non res mid pipes. Largely influenced by you. A shop had spare exhaust pipes laying around they were able to bend and expand the ends to fit. Their welder said he couldn’t weld the two materials together, so we used exhaust clamps. (Clamps causing an exhaust leak right now, but I’m gonna use high temp sealant on it)
I love the sound of AWE + EL mid pipes. Looking back, I probably wouldn’t go through the trouble and money to buy two systems and Frankenstein them together.
I’d try a valvetronic equal length system or the full titanium equal length system from Cen-Cal Motorsports
The F8x platform, does sound good with this combination. I know with the Gen 2 switchpath, it became a little bit more difficult like this to be paired up.
The AWE + EL midpipes definitely make this a very unique sound along with the F8x platform. Just like my previous F8x exhaust videos, it's there to help and inform the BMW Community and I hope this video helps people looking for an exhaust for the G8x. I've been asked many times on my current setup so I hope this makes it clear for the ones who have asked and to see if it's worth it.

Downpipe, midpipe, and OEM axle back is money
I always suggest to start off with a mid-pipe, and see how that sounds. Although the rear axle back is big and bulky it doesn't sound too bad when you get rid of the resonators and a high flowed catted downpipe
I'm finally taking delivery of my G80 this week and have a Valvetronic equal length catback in the garage. I'm planning to keep my stock DPs but I will say your setup sounds probably as good as I can imagine with any sort of aftermarket DP. The 400 cell cats are definitely helping to reduce your rasp and generally helps preserve a consistent tone. This sounds pretty good to me, and I swear every exhaust video I see of the S58 just reminds me how much better it sounds compared to the previous S55.
Congrats on finally taking delivery of your g80! I know it's been a long journey. I definitely love my setup. It is very unique and difficult to do without the customization. The S58 overall does sound so much better than the S55.

Hey man, HUGE fan of your car and content. I have the same exhaust and DPs but would love the EL midpipe. Do you know if AA accepts custom orders? Definitely want to avoid welding. Would love that additional pipe!

Looking for some mods on a new g80 I picked up about 2 months ago and I'm confused about which exhaust setup to go with lol but I know for sure I want these wheels - what wheels are u rocking in this video?
I have the Dinan x pipe paired with a vsc-2 controller and I'm completely happy. No rasp no drone and has an oem+ deeper tone and deeper burbles.
Hopefully I run into somebody with that setup, you're about the second person that has mentioned that
@The Daily Driven sounds a lot better in person than the Dinan CZcams clip of the x pipe. I live in CA and wanted to stay legal and didn't feel the need to change the exhaust out, only the mid-pipe, but retain the secondary cats.

@Topg80comp the setup don't have much Drone but then again I do have a manual. My rpms are generally higher when highway cruising as compared to the 8speed zf auto which will make the rpms lower.
Also this exhaust setup is great but key note, it won't pair up without some custom fabrication.

Hey. I've been enjoying your G80 videos. I just ordered my 2024 manual. Debating on a mid pipe. Leaning toward AA or MAD single mid pipe just to improve sound and burbles. I have no intention of getting rid of primary cats or changing the back box. What's your opinion?
Thank you for checking out the video! One of the best combinations that I like is the active Autowerke equal length midpipe. That does a lot of Justice on making the tone a lot smoother. One way you can make that better is using a Valve controller from Dahler

Yes that will work no problem, because the awe non resonated midpipe bolts up directly to a stock downpipe. Therefore it will work with Active's high flow catted downpipes. Thanks for checking out the video!

I live in SoCal. I'm looking for a full system catback and I'm trying to decide between dinan's full system or the awe switchpath. I need something epa compliant especially since I live in SoCal.
Here's a video of the AWE Switchpath I have. I had my stock downpipes and stock midpipe. It was louder but it's wasn't loud enough since the stock midpipes have two resonators.

What part is not an exact fit ? I plan on ordering AA equal length Midpipe with the AA axle back exhaust, this Fitment wouldn’t need any adjustments…right ?
What doesn't fit is the awe to active. Any active products will work with each other. You have nothing to worry about that.
I'm A Sound Person Just Like You.. 😂So I Kept My 2011 M3 E93 an Just Added The 2020 X3M.. The Twin Turbos will Never Give You the V8 Rumble.. I Accept it an Won't even Bother wit the Exhaust on the X3M

I thought you automatically void warranty if you change the DPs?
They can pretty much void your warranty for that for sure. For a high flow catted downpipe you don't need a tune. For a catless you do. Having a tune and showing up to the dealership will bring up red flags.

I honestly think my current setup is a great option but they are too many moving Parts on making these two platforms fit. I mentioned the video you need a custom install from the mid pipe to rear box. Awe makes their exhaust where you need to use your full exhaust. It's hard to pair up other midpipes with their system

Towards the end you'll see why it's not recommended. There's a lot of Custom Fabrication/ the headaches that might be involved. I've had many people hit me up about my current exhaust setup. And I just want people to know that the setup sounds amazing obviously, but there is some leg work that needs to be done
