@@rdeh1678there are 28 of them at $40,000,000 each for a total of $11,000,000,000 for the fleet of 28 of them. The reason there are so many is that robust rapid transportation of essential government VIPs; Secretary of Defense, Secretary of State, etc... to secure secret places is needed to ensure that the federal government can still function just in case the "balloon" goes up. Bottom line is they're not all designated for use by just the president and his staff. Each one can transport 14 passengers in addition to the crew.

@@seanbrazell7095 That in itself could be a lotto style problem solver regardless of which talking head is in office! lol That said I agree, the Osprey is a cursed design & never should've been approved for series production. That machine first flew back in '89 & yet wasn't introduced to service until '07?
Considering that her development started back in 1983 that makes her "cutting edge technology" 24 years out of date. Never mind this ignores that the technology was first conceptualized by the Germans in WW2 & successive generations of Bell technology demonstrators examined the tilt-rotor or "converti-plane" concept from '51 to '92.
The design has never been, isn't currently & never will be safe. As far as I'm concerned all of them should be put in the boneyard to support the few CMV-22B Carrier Onboard Delivery variants which the Navy & Marine Corps absolutely need. I'm real leery of the Valor too. If anything the new tilt-rotor mechanism is a little more dodgy than the one used in the Osprey. I would've much rather have seen the Sikorsky-Boeing SB-1 Defiant go into production as it used tried & true tech with a KISS principle solution to increase forward speed in flight.
Any thoughts on the two leading contenders for the FARA (Future Attack Reconnaissance Aircraft) project?

You cannot buy these in the civilian market. Heavily modified. Upgraded engines as well. Not one is made on an assembly line, all custom made.

Sadly, "dumb missiles" like RPG's are very effective against rotary aircraft, especially at take-off. In 'Nam, "getting-out-of-the-hole" (ground to "safe" altitude) became KING of helo use in "hot" areas. Fully optically guided missiles like "Stingers" (40 years obsolete) have become an expensive but effective threat too. "Air Force One is bigger and has to take-off too." Yeah but it has counter-measure stuff, God only knows (and He better NOT TELL), better than B-52J's do and the electronics are on-par with the new B-21's, which are FAR improved from the B-2! I was a RADAR S-8 in the USAF in 1974-gonna be on the old DEW-LINE. I can't imagine AF One's signature on RADAR! Make a robin look big!

Almost nobody in politics is a decent person...and maybe if we voted for them to not have the level of secret service protection, etc., we wouldn't attract so many pussified cowards to elected office.
What I'm saying is if we, the voters abolished, say, the secret service, our politicians would all be brave people who don't want to waste any time and and make a point to actually be respectful to people in their attitudes.
....also it would work to prevent parties from getting their rabid voter bases all riled up and angry at each other--because it would be just plain dangerous.

The reason the President does not fly on the VH-92 is because it burns the grass at the White House and the National Park Service told them Marines they cannot land it there.

Just use the Osprey. But the president can fly in anything he wants. That is what commander in chief means. If he commands a pilot to get in an Apache and fly him to ... That pilot is required to do so.

I call BS on this headline. No where in the video does it make a claim that the President is band for using his helicopter. He flies from the White House to Andrews Air Base on a regular basis on Marine One. The Osprey was never brought into the Marine Presidential program for the President to fly on, It is there as a truck to move equipment and support personal. The safety record for the Osprey when it was being developed was on par with a lot of new aircraft. Over the last 10 years it has been one of the safest operating aircraft in the military, the media just jumps on it when ever there is a problem just like they are doing with the 737 max because they see them as an easy target. This video is just a propaganda video to sale an aircraft that is not in military service and can't handle the amount of equipment the Osprey can. The new aircraft also is not big enough, if it were the Marines would be using the HH60 how as Marine One. The name of this site is correct, what they say is beyond facts, in other words there is a lot of misinformation.
