The Fletchers, IMHO among the most beautiful ships ever designed and built. Their lines promise grace and speed. I'm a "destroyerman" who joined his first ship in the 1980s, a Spruance class DD about the size of an early WWII cruiser but we operated with Fletchers run by the Spanish and Turkish Navies. Odd to think that these WWII ships were faster than we were despite our gas turbine engines.
Take good care of her, your USS Kidd is a treasure.
Thank you! We think so too. What Spruance can were you on? What was your rate?
@@usskiddveteransmuseum7568 USS Caron (DD 970), I was a Cryptologic Technician (CT).
A Fletcher MOVING in this day and age.
Not confined to the black and white news reels any longer!
Words can't convey how cool this is!
Some beautiful clips from this journey!
Must've been nice to see her set sail again. she's so beautiful 🥹
So nice to see her moving once again.
What a beautiful ship you got there. Take good care of her
Probably the fastest ship in the Historical Fleet that day! Need more of them.
She is moving along at a good clip. One hell of a fighting ship.
Wow those are some great shots
Hopefully we'll see fairly regular updates, like Ryan has been providing for USS NJ.
So glad to see the ol Lady on her way to getting repaired, and fixed up. Although I wish they would leave her in her Ms 22 camo scheme instead of how I heard they are planning to repaint her. The 22 pattern was her last camo scheme of WW II and she looked like the beautiful lady she is in it
It'll be back. 5 years in dazzle. 5 years in all-blue from 1943. Back to Ms 22.
Commander Ernie Krause would probably say it's a good job!😊
Would ha e been cool if she could have went to Galveston and see her in drydock next to Texas. Texas is out now, but at the dock next to drydock.
How far was the complete journey guys? _(I'm Australian & new here)._
In excess of 300 miles.
As awesomely cool as this is, if someone had the skills to digitally remove the tugs and make it look like she was underway under her own steam, well… that would be amazing. 🫡
